Rather then creating a mushroom sigil equivalent, why not add an ability to environment? Something like pound, where if you wield a blunt weapon (similar to wielding an axe for chop) you can use it to smash sigils or objects. However, it'd work like crash, whereas each pound would only have a small chance to destroy the sigil, and each pound would take balance, so it would take quite a few pounds before you got lucky and destroyed it. If there was a flamed monolith, you could pound the monolith till it shattered, then pick up the flame sigil. If there was a letter that was flamed, you could pound it till you smashed the flame inside the letter, and then pick up the letter. It'd be fairly high in environment, and would take quite a few tries and time to destroy a sigil, but it'd be certainly more interesting then just adding a mushroom sigil. I believe something similar to this exists in Imperian.

That would actually be good. Especially in environment, which needs to rapidly stop sucking.

Hear hear, Shiri. Roark, Your Greatness, the greatest MUD coder ever, please make Environment rapidly stop sucking. Or at least send forth one of your new minions to this task.

The Imperian method for a secondary way to destroy sigils was created for the anti-magic City of Antioch to be able to defend against people running in, dropping monolith sigils, and then beating the hell out of everyone.
Secondly, mushroom sigils aren't just used for blowing up sigils. They are good for getting rid of things that idiots drop on the ground and flame them. IE. the numerous letters littering Magnagora that some random person dropped in the first week of the game and all we can do is wait for the flame sigil to decay. Also, a mushroom sigil would be a great way to remove "cursed" items. Mushroom sigils are needed. If someone can prove to me how they are not, I'll shut up about it.

I've always wondered why I couldn't smash sigils on the ground.

I just said, you could use pound to destroy the flamed letters, or ANY object that can be held. You simple drop the object, and pound it till it is destroyed. I'd like it much better then mushroom sigils. Like it was said, Environment sucks, at least adding an ability to destroy objects would be a step in the right direction.

Wasn't there an ability very early on in Achaea that allowed you to bury sigils thereby negating their effectiveness?
