My opinion is, if it's that unbalanced, no one will ever do the quest. So much for that eh?

I once knew the entire process of raising the White Hart; it was leaked to the DoC and posted on our boards. I forgot to take it with me when the clan disbanded, sadly, but I remember that all of it takes place in the Serenwilde, or at the very least, the majority of it.

Guido, I hate to break it to you, but white hart has never died. You know the quest to empower him, not to raise him.

I love how people can think rationally and speak politely on this forum
Unknown2005-01-06 14:45:05
You should see Imperian's forums. Kabal (Calhoun from achaea) spends more time on their forums than he does in the game, doing nothing but flaming people.
Gol2005-01-06 14:47:02
Yeah. Bit like all the dillusional morons who think being able to steal quests and take power at NO RISK is fair, right? Hell, even celestians admit it's unfair and stupid.

I stopped being polite when polite apparently lost all power to make serenwilde players realise anything. I'm hoping being rude makes them notice. I still doubt the 95% of them who'll read the post, will admit to themselves that their own failure is due to lack of effort put into raiding or combat. Worth a shot though, eh?
Unknown2005-01-06 14:51:18
Two sides to every quest.
Erion2005-01-06 15:10:22
Shiro, you're an ignorant twirp. You always were the Seren lapdog. You add nothing to the thread, so leave it alone.

And, Rhysus. I never thought I'd say this, but I totally agree. Just so not cool. I'd love to see what a Divine has to say, though.
Erion2005-01-06 15:24:30
Gol, you're wasting your time. When the pig thinks the slaughter is a trough, the hell do you think he's going to do? Ignore it?
Unknown2005-01-06 15:24:51
Ok lets look at it this way.

Some of you seem to be under the impression we begged and whined for this quest. We didnt, it happened. I and at least Gregori are of the opinion the power loss is excessively harsh. However the balance of the quests previously was that Mag had NOTHING to lose, we had everything to lose. Whether it took the same amount of effort or not is kind of outside of the point. The quest severely impacts our ability as a commune. If you want to compare Raising Crow as a mag compare it with killing the Demon Lords, because that is what we would have to do to achieve a similar effect.

Now outside of this. The Spear quest is not quick nor easy, if a Mag knew what we had to do they could stop us no problem.

Finally, if the Gods really think its broken, it will get fixed. We dont need to get so wound up at either side. Both of us think both sides have it unfair, well guess what no matter what we think we cant be objective, you never know for some reason it could be integral to Estarra's ideas for the game that you fail at this. Just as when this first started it seemed to us there was little we could do about.

I have heard enough from both sides whining, its totally pointless. Neither side is right, neither side is wrong. Its just the way things are.

Then try that. It's about the same difficulty.

Gah! I am not trying to cause more arguments. All I am trying to say is censor.gif happens. We all get the short end of the stick sometimes, LIFE IS NOT FAIR. We have no idea why it was done, for all we know doing this could be having some other adverse effect that will be revealed to Mag and we will then have to deal with that. We aren't the coders, we don't know whats going on, so to sit here and verbally insult each other is a total waste of time.
Unknown2005-01-06 15:40:39
One: Erion, go back hiding and crying within that little hole you call life. What I meant was two sides to ever quest was. Most likely Magnagora will get the ability to use the necromantes or something from the zoo in order to catch the colts like the spear is doing to bring them back. And Gol, shut up and don't insult people you little prick.

edit: The way Serenwilde is using the spear to retake the colts, I believe Magnagora will get the ability to do something like that in the near future.

Kinda like the unavoidable, colt instasteal, power nabbing 'quest' serenwilde just got given
Yeah, thanks a bunch whoever put that quest in. Poor little serenwilde couldn't get off it's  goddamned ass because it's filled with forestals used to having to do absolutely nothing to defend themselves, Who are more proficcient and bitching, whining, and crying like an idiot who just got kicked in the balls, than actually doing something for themselves.

Serenwilde has done nothing aggressive. Not as a whole, just one or two people trying. And they censor.gif wonder why they lose?

When the side who bitches most but does least, get's handed the tools for victory for their lack of action besides crying, it really takes the fun out of the game.

12 pages in this thread.. all I see are Magnagorans crying because they finally got a bloody nose.

Yeah you had to do a whole lot to capture the colts. Oh right I forgot you need to goto the arena, kill yourself so your willpower resets and you can ghost longer, run through the Serenwilde avoiding everything to look for a colt. Then when you do find one you get someone with your tainted grass to pop in feed the colt, and pop out so you can lock it in a room, which was amazingly built just for this purpose, because god forbid we might try and stop you from stealing our colts. Then you park a statue outside the room with 19 Marshalls. Have a geomancer demense set up all the time, have a couple people routinely inside to guard and block the entrance. (I know this because Thorgal blocked when your lame guard Panax couldn't do his job, but that's ok your statues and guards did everything for him). Now tell me again how we are supposed to get in there?

I mean hell you all say how a forest can't be as easily defended as a city and Magnagora had its ass handed to them by 4 people and 20 guards when they came in to try and make a raid on White Hart. What do you think would happen if a force stormed a single entrance in city that can easily bring more guards to aid them? The Seren would have their asses handed to them that's what.

The quest we do is no easier than your instant discovery of tainted grass, and in fact Daevos has already figured out how to slow us down on that one. Which is about the only intelligent thing I have seen so far in relation to these quests. You 'learned' how to steal our colts, we 'learned' how to get them back, you can stop us, we can stop you.

Quit crying because your allmighty kingdom might actually not be allmighty. Either that or tell the Divine that you want -nobody- to 'learn' things and keep this a player run event.

and if you really think this is stacked against you suddenly let's review the facts:

1) You raid Dairuchi, we put in guards, you raid some more, you eventually kill most of the villagers, we get some more guards in there, we set up routine groups of people to get there and watch for any of you going near there, you still raid and kill some guards, only we are starting to bite back a bit better now. So we get some statues in there, and a few more guards, and try and make sure it is always demesned and we start beating you back. ---- Influence changes ---- Dairuchi revolts and you win despite the fact we are again sitting with multiple major denizens on our side.

2) You try a few times to raid White Hart and kill him, totems slow you down, you raise Crow. You still try and raid White Hart, we push you back with totems and wisping -----Totem Changes----- You now can run through the forest with no trouble at all because we are scrambling to figure out where to place our totems. (interesting side note, this also allows you to search the whole Serenwilde for colts)

3) You once again raid Serenwilde, only this time we have no totems to call on so we are stuck with getting some guards in a hurry and getting to you. ----Misweave----- we suddenly cannot summon guards, Order guards, or pretty much do anything that involves the word guard

4) Centaur colts are going missing, we try and figure this out and we see one of you feed a colt tainted grass and vanish out of there. We attempt to figure out where you went and suddenly realise over night you have a new room built in your zoo specifically to lock centaur colts in.

So now. Want to tell me where you see things being stacked against you, and perhaps wonder why those in the Serenwilde are more than a little pissed when everytime they do try and do something they have to first say "hmmm, if I do this, what change or misweave will hit us today?"?

I am not blaming the Admins btw, so don't take me wrong, just pointing out that if you want to pull the "stacked" card out I can clearly show you where you are wrong and where if you put your thinking caps on you can see that maybe the Serenwilde has a reason to be mad that you suddenly found a "steal the colts" quest.
Thorgal2005-01-06 16:00:46
I see it more like this...

We try raising Crow, which is impossible, cause when you don't manage to kill some pitiful mobs at the right time, and he does get raised, you can easily use White Hart to slay Crow again the moment he's raised.

So the divine saw this ain't fair, since there's NO possible way we can ever keep Crow alive...so they set up the colt quest, we can keep the colts imprisoned, so you cannot use White Hart that easily to kill Crow, leaves you with killing some pitiful mobs at the right time to destroy all our efforts...the odds are now fair, it still takes much more effort raising Crow than killing him, but it's feasible...

All goes well, serenwilders start to whine and whine and whine...so the divine give them the colt quest which steals a colt together with 1000 power from our megalith, without having to place themselves in danger... we go "WHAT THE censor.gif?" The odds have now completely turned against us AGAIN, making it just as impossible to raise Crow as it was at the very start of all this.

For those not able to comprehend simple logic: If you're one step behind, go two steps forward, then two steps back, you're still one step behind.

Oogles.

Edit: Language censored. (Elryn)
Sylphas2005-01-06 16:07:09
I'm still amazed that Magnagora thinks it SHOULD be fair. It's not even your quest to begin with, it's Glomdoring's. Fine, do it anyway, no problem with that. But the problem is, we can't win. The best we can do is not lose. That already is inherently unfair, if you look at it the way you're trying to. We get nothing if we 'win', if we lose, we lose one of our guardian spirits, and things break. You have like 300k power. I'd rather not see us draining your power (OOCly, of course), but 1k isn't even 1% of your total power, and you have 6 villages. You're not hurting as bad as you want to make it sound, no matter how much you whine.
Unknown2005-01-06 16:08:43
I think the reason why Magnagora is talking about the power draining is the fact they don't have a quest where they send a a swarm of beetles or something that will steal power away from the serenwilde's tree

What whining are you talking about? The only thing I've seen from Serenwilde that even remotely resemble us whining about you guys stealing the colts is when Narsrim posted on the commune's board imploring the commune's patrons to help, in which he did not get any responds back as far as I can tell. None of us posted on the forum bitching and whining about the impossibility of getting the colts back, but rather tried alternative methods to get them back. We did not go and start a new thread complaining about how the admins have created a quest to go screw our city over, you guys did.

At least now we're at the point where we both know the questing itself isn't fair at the moment.
