Best skillset in the game?

Curious about your input, base this on which has best skills, most use, etc. Like, don't choose Blademaster over Athletics because Athletics doesn't directly give you offensive skills, judge on which is more useful.

And PLEASE don't turn this thread into a rant about overpowered skills.

I don't know much about the skillsets aside from the Ur'Guard ones, but based on my knowledge, I'd have to say Athletics.

Vitality is an amazing life-saver.
Weathering, who could argue with +1 con?
Surge, incredible amounts of HP.
Sprinting, big time-saver.
Resistance, no equilibrium/balance use, resists magic.
As well as many skills useful for preventing venoms and stuff, although that isn't that useful if you have Trans Resilience or Venoms.

I'm pretty sure there are better skills than Atheltics, but I haven't played long enough to piece out the other skillsets happy.gif.

I'd have to agree there; while I had Athletics it was very, very cool.

The only other skillset that I think compares to Athletics on coolness level is enchantments.

What!? Enchantments!? Are you nuts?
What other skillset is completely unique based on the skills that someone has learned in other areas. Enchantments has like 10 skills.. but if you learn highmagic, it gets 4 more... learn elementalism theres a nother 10.. Rituals.. Add a few more.. Cosmic... Nope different skills now! Oh and lets not forget Planar!

I'll have to agree, Athletics is awesome. Its like, the best defences of Kaido, combined with some nifty Chivalry things, plus a few other super useful things thrown in.

Once you get to master, you can shrug of vlocks, and you also get +2 strength at gifted. Those're attainable with just bashing lessons, so it gives even low power knights an advantage.

Besides, opening with puissant blow + pulp as a Tae'dae is fairly groovy : D

I think I'd probably again have to agree with you all on Athletics, it has a simply amazing set of boosts and defenses. After that I'd have to say the Rituals/Sacraments set. I really think heretic, infidel, and inquisition are very cool, original, and powerful abilities. Stag is nice too, has some interesting abilities, specifically the facepaints. After that, I'd say Moon. While Moon isn't the greatest skillset, forming Covens is just plain fun, giving you an added extra channel, and having some nifty abilities, everything focuses around working together, rather then soloing it, and every thing is more fun in groups.

Planar baby!!! That trans skill is the best thing I have EVER seen.
Unknown2005-01-05 13:40:52
Oh yea, Planar is definitely the greatest common skill ever.

I'm assuming you're referring to hunger in Athletics to get you out of vlock. Last time I tested you needed to be unparalyzed in order to perform it, so unless that's fixed, knights can't shrug vlocks at all.

And I've never tested puissance, but does it sticks around long enough for you to regain 3 more powers (30 seconds) to get 8 powers for a pulp?
Daganev2005-01-05 19:43:54
no it doesn't.... as cool as Athletics is, nobody that I know uses the trans skill.
Daganev2005-01-05 19:44:16
wait I have to activate lipread? nowonder!
Hazar2005-01-05 19:55:18
Either Totems or Herbs. Both are amazingly fun, and have great background/rp to run around with.

Moon. It's nice in combat, but the best part is the RP potential and the wonderful coolness.
Trae2005-01-06 01:18:58
Tarot. Best all around skill and Lusternia Hold-um with a Tarot deck rocks.
Unknown2005-01-06 01:24:40
Damn, I forgot about Tarot. It is a nice mix of offense and utility abilities. Catacombs/Hermit is awesome. The ability to aeon and throw hangedman is wonderful too. It has more offense then Hexes AND it has all the great utility abilities, no wonder all the Nihilists love it. tongue.gif
