I don't mind the skill in and of itself, but I think it needs to be changed somehow. If you're only puissancing the first you hit you throw, I don't really think it's worth the 5 power. I tested it today with Maedhros, it did about 75 damage more than my regular hits. Wow. For 5 power it should atl east last a good time (like omen) so we can at least hit a combo for puissant blows. Or something. Maybe we could change the skill entirely. I'd like something cool, maybe increased endurance regen? Meh. I dunno.

Most people don't care about endurance regeneration all that much, especially when other skills give us that already. I agree that it should be changed, though, if your tests are representative of the ability.

Maybe trans can just make headslam usefull *grin*

I want a really cool instakill. Heh. We can run around them so fast that their heads blow up.

Sierus tested the skill on me not too long ago, and his broad slash was doing upwards of 1.3k, the following around 700. Exactly what weapons were you using, and at what strength?
Thorgal2005-01-06 10:46:32
Tests I did are similar, puissance doubles the strength of the next blow. So for 5 power, your next double slash will do 50% more damage.
Unknown2005-01-06 10:49:44
That sounds reasonable to me, Thorgal. Or do you feel it should have increased damage or lower power cost? I realize you are just stating the facts, but I'm curious if you think it is useful or not.
Thorgal2005-01-06 10:50:45
The power cost is too high for it to be useful, not a single warrior will ever use it in real combat, not to mention the long equilibrium loss, just slashing will end up in more damage anyhow.

I don't really think puissance can even be made useful, it should just be replaced by something else.

Hmmm, yes I suppose Haymaker and Pulp are much much better. Haymaker is double the damage, and twice as many chances for toxins, and pulp is just an absolute ton of damage. All for 8 power.

Though with transcendent discipline (so your power regenerates from reserves faster) would it be possible to set up puissance, regain 3 more power, then pulp before it wore off?

Edit: Or what if puissance, rather then just increasing damage, increased specific body area damage by a ton?
Thorgal2005-01-06 10:55:22
Nope, absolutely impossible on the first, and yeah, increasing area damage for a limited amount of time would make it useful.
Unknown2005-01-06 10:56:38
it wears off about 2 seconds before you are ready to hit with the pulp
Unknown2005-01-06 11:00:04
Well there we go. It should do more limb/body part damage, so that that warriors would feel it worthwhile to use it at times, over say a pulp/haymaker. I am always one that wants to see every ability made useful, not to have a few abilities that are never used. Variety is what makes things more interesting.

I think someone should gather a list, of every ability that is ignored by each individual class. Specifically envoys, they should concentrate and making each ability useable, and just as likely to be used as other abilities in the skillset.

For example, I think Hexes is underused. I rarely use it, I'll switch to Healing if I finish gambling up the lessons (Just for Bedevil). Nihilists don't use Hexes, there must be a reason why. I'd like to see Healing/Hexes and Tarot/Hexes placed on equal footing, so that you see a 50/50 usage of each. Just like I'd like to see with every other skillset, and all individual abilities.
