Don't read Eragon. It = suck. I was forced to read it.
And yes, only read the original 5 Dune Books. Great stuff, but once his son or whoever takes over they, too, = suck.

I come back to this thread, amazed that there are three pages, and I find two of them have nothing to do with my original idea.

Well, Richter.. if I get some credits maybe I'll help ya make the Glomdoring come to life. It better have bad arse guilds though.. mwahahaha.. Assassin guardians to make up for the lack of fae (Dark fae would be so.. so... ).
And if any of you squeal!! (Meh. Where's the giant fist that shakes at people..)

The Nightdancers will be cooler than that. I would like to see them have big Crows as their 'pets'.
Does anyone know the name of the Glomdoring Druid and Warrior guilds? I can't remember if they are mentioned in the history; I know the druids are spoken of, but not by a specific name?

Its because no, Glomdoring wont be acceptable to Seren no matter how you dress it up. Its the facts of life, kind of like how we guardians and seekers can do NOTHING until the building of the cities is complete, oh well. I dont mind lurking for a bit doing nothing but laugh at idiots bitching at each other because god made the other persons wang magically bigger, but then they threw a fit so god made their wang bigger than the first, causing a fit from the first, onward and inward eternally, eventually crushing them both under the weight of their ego swollen phallii.
On a brighter note, Terry Pratchett writes some good books, heavy on the satire. Reading Robert Jordan is like reading the Principa Discordia, all clippings of other books, etc. The only problem is, it is less entertaining and edifying. If fantasy is your flavor look about for some historical fantasy books, they tend to be better written. Well at least possesing greater depth due to centuries of building up of said legends they are based on. I read a very good book the other day based upon the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I would also recommend Who Treads the Sky and Toils the Earth, by...ack cant remember the author. Ive only seen one copy of it though so you might have a hard time getting ahold of it. I think the authors name was Bennet or Bernette, or something like that.
Mists of Avalon and the associated books, are generally typical of radical fem-nazi literature, though if thats your piece of cake, enjoy the frosting.
The book "The Ballad of Attila and Honoria" was an excellent piece of historical pseudofantasy in the same tone as "Who Treads the Sky and Toils the Earth" and almost as well done (though just as hard to come by a copy). Its an interesting play on the saga of Attila, Honoria, Aetius, Theodoric the Goth, and the many others who played their parts in driving history to its bloody fate on the Catalounian Fields. Different from most it also reads like a tragedy in reference to the relationship between Honoria and Attila, though also acknowleging their personal gains to be made.
The problem is good, original fiction doesnt sell well at all. People prefer to buy predigested titles as long as they are by 'buzz-name' authors. It saddens me as a writer to see some of the better reads of my lifetime go unheralded, while Robert Jordan keeps trying to force out the rest of his series before he dies of cancer, and butchering any semblance of descency it may have hoped to retain in the beginning, yet still being bought like hotcakes. Honestly...bah.

At first I imagined a "Nightdancer," but I'd rather them have an instrument maybe.. like an ethereal flute. Maybe have a more singular ent to be their slave.. simply because the big entourage Moondancers have just serve as an RP device. I'm not into a bulky bunch following me anyway.
I dunno, I haven't really given it major thought though.

The Great houses of Magnagora are an opportunity that is being squandered by the Playerbase... those who have the power to, FIX IT!
Richter2005-01-07 07:05:13
But how does this relate to Glomdoring?
Gregori2005-01-07 08:05:40
Oh my god. It took you guys 11 posts in to hijack this thread and turn it into the nightly bookclub gathering. You people gotta at least let a full page of on topic posts happen, first.
Richter IC I would enemy your clan in a heartbeat.
OOC, dammit raise another Commune already!

I would, if I had the support, and we didn't get hunted, heh...
I think I'm going to start working on some Glomdoring ideas, and submit them. Maybe one or two of them will get used...

Terry Goodkind sucks. He had a nice first book, even though it ripped off a lot from other books. But really, after that first one he just ran out of things to write, which was it, the Pillars of Creation, that had 15 pages on how one sick character liked seeing a snake die.
How long do you guys think it's going to take to raise another commune, if that's happening at all?

Thorgal2005-01-07 10:21:34
I don't think Glomdoring will be a commune anywhere within the next 1-2 RL years...the divine want serenwilde to have the monopoly on alchemy, and they ain't gonna change that anytime soon. Maybe once Magnagora is completely overrun and outnumbered, without any villages for years...while everyone leaving, they'll consider implementing glomdoring. At least that's what I keep hearing.
Drago2005-01-07 10:27:35
I figure they'll make the commune when there's more then 10 people asking for it.
Or when the current cities get overpopulated.
I doubt the reason is "screw Magnagora"

Zhaine2005-01-07 10:28:01
It's likely not to occur, due to people's inability to separate IC from OOC.
BUT...
The general equation stands thus...
Glomdoring clan + Anything to do with Crow = Angry Serenwilde
Follow me so far? Marvellous.
However, if we alter the equation thus...
Gloriana clan + Attempting to restore former glory = Happy Serenwilde
Now you're asking "But we wan't Glomdoring, NOT Gloriana"
I know that, and you know that, HOWEVER, if you raise the clan as a front, and allow Serenwilde members to be a part of the clan, it will alleviate suspicion, and although you'd need to tread carefully, you could still manage to have the clans true, darker purpose could be done in dark, secret places, preferably by people in dark robes with strange, curvy knives.
That's how I think Visaeris should have done it the first time around, so if someone tried it now, it would be a lot more difficult, especially considering Richters past affiliation with Crow.

The funniest thing I've noticed is that Visaeris has never once spoken about how the Glomdoring group had really come about. The clan was actually supposed to be as you said Zhaine, secretive and with Seren never hearing a word of what was to happen, but Visaeris had his ego he had to massage and ruined it. Not to mention the allies he had before he started the clan were the ones he needed most, but ditched for others such as Richter and who ever else would grovel for him.

Okay, one thing - the name is NOT NIGHTDANCERS!
I have read every inch and speck of the histories that refer to Gloriana/Glomdoring, and they never refer to it as anything other then the 'Night Coven'. By the same coin, the histories call the Moondancers the 'Moon Dance Coven', and the Ackleberry group the 'Lake Wood Coven'.
Since it would be rather sad to have a guild callled Night, I humbly submit the name 'Nightbringers'. It fits. It sounds good. And it's what I'm using in the 'Antiwicca' skillset I'm making.
