Seren-Mag War

Just because you lost one enemy doesn't mean the war is over. Unlike Serenwilde, Celest won't stop until the taint is destroyed .
Shiri2005-01-13 18:06:08
Celest's practically nonexistant as a military force now, though.
Probably has a lot to do with the fact that guards can be placed in villages, so anyone who even tries to get Acknor and Angkrag (and a lot of them don't want to attack dwarves etc. in Rockholm, so they won't try that) gets mercilessly butchered.

The war's as good as over.
Unknown2005-01-13 18:07:40
The war between Serenwilde and Magnagora yes, but the war between Celest and Magnagora will never end, Shiri.
Unknown2005-01-13 18:09:30
We didn't care about Celest before, we do not now. Celest is like a mosquito. True it's annoying, but it's easy to subdue.
Unknown2005-01-13 18:09:48
Right, but it's like.. only Amaru and Rhysus? Anyone else here from Celest?

Quiet! *sniffles*
Shiri2005-01-13 18:12:35
Flow does stuff too!

And, um...Neola and Eldanien help out a couple times. And Staer I think.

Hardly any though. Maybe Magnagora'll start attack them again.

Certainly, this event didn't turn out quite as envisioned. Though I could go through a step-by-step outline of how we developed it, I'm sure many of you would jump in and say we shoulda-coulda-done it different and perhaps you'd be right. Ah, hindsight! Most of the problem, I think, was the length of time it took, partly from the fact that we could convince ourselves to wait to see if it resolves itself on the next new moon or the next attempt on Gorgulu. If anyone wishes to point fingers of blame, please point them at me. Though feelings are raw and frayed right now, I will make the prediction that a year from now people will look back on this event as a great storyline and wish they could have been more involved (as I've seen it happen with other events in other realms). Also, there were rewards for both Serenwilde (upgraded Moon Avatars) and Magnagora (new investable power for Nihilists) at the event's conclusion.

Although there is the temptation of not doing events when one doesn't turn out as satisfactory as one had hoped (for if we do no events, there'd be no complaints), we won't give up! We'll learn from our mistakes (this has been a learning experience for the admins as well) and design more events for the future.

Estarra, can we please do something that doesn't involve killing next? Like a Bardic contest, or sumfin. I know us non-combatants were feeling kinda left out in this one. And I'm sure those of us who were fighting need a break to at least get their levels back. Peeeeze?
Unknown2005-01-13 18:54:43
All I can say is thank you, Estarra. You did the best you could do with all the crap that was thrown at you and it was quite impressive and admirable.

I wouldn't call a bardic contest an event but point noted!

I know it's not an event, but it's a lot of, and I mean, a lot of work. I held one for Serenwilde, and there were SO many entries and messages voting for them. Not to mention the people complaining that their vote had to be messaged to me, because it wasn't fair to hold a referendum since not everyone can vote in them. Total headache, but the contestants loved it. Hmm, I wonder if any of em will let me post their work in the creative section...

And back on topic, Celest is..well...no. I really don't know if Celest is really really helpful, or the dog that returns to his abusive owner's side. Do you not remember when Serenwilde made a deal with Magnagora that basically let Mag beat the crap out(Which they would have done anyways, we just put in it writing) of you while Serenwilde influenced? Why would you wanna help them? I don't get it. unsure.gif

And that is why Roark is awesome.

Give up.

I still don't see what people were aiming to get out of all of this. The fact that an interesting story was played out is enough of an OOC reward for me and as for IC, well, wars do not always result in a reward for either side.
Ialie2005-01-14 05:04:06
I enjoyed the event. I hope that other people's complaining do not ruin the chance of events in the future.

Seriously

Thank you.
Daganev2005-01-14 05:44:30
The goal of the event for Magnagora was to create this new Tainted race that would help spread taint and just be cool.
Shiri2005-01-14 11:35:13
Ah, that explains it then. Seriously though, I loved the event.

I'm one of the people that doesn't mind losing level 63 to 56 as long as he feels useful in the meantime. (Dangit, gotta find another line of work than Ethereal guard now.)
Devris2005-01-14 11:43:07
Overall, the event was a good one, but only WAY WAY after the fact.

It wasn't problems from the gods end, more from the players

I can't speak for the Seren as I don't know what they did during this whole thing, so I don't want to put words in their mouth. But as Magnagoran, it seemed that 3 people knew what was going on, and anytime someone asked they got -silence-. Many of us pieced together parts of it, but if you look at where the problems came it, it was due to no one knowing what the heck was going on. (aka Gorgulu death fun - 1st trip)

It gets really frustrating sometimes when it seems (and this happened in the other IRE realms) people get a little information, and keep it to themselves. 90% of the time now in Achaea, you have people running to events sites just to try and get their names in the events post or get an honours line.

I'll use the example of the Tosha Monastery, the robed figure met a bunch of us and I pursued everything from looking for it blindly to speaking to pilgrims. Every bit of information I got, I told to other Loboshigaru so that SOMEONE could find the damn Loboshi Masters. Just so happened that I finally got the hint that pinpointed it, and thanks to a very patient friend (whomever you are) I found it. Most of the other Lobos knew about as much as I knew until the end, as I don't really give a darn hoot if my name was in an events post or not.

If we have an event, share information, it will result in a lot of people not hating the event as much. I could have RP'd this great for my character if I knew more than, "Everyone come up to Nil we are killing Gorgulu" or seeing the magical tainted Fae popping up.

I think the thing about this event that mad it annoying was the constant war situation. Everyone loves a good pk-a-thon every so often, but when, no matter what time of the day you log on, for weeks on end, you're instantly deffed up and thrown into huge group combat situations, with no respite, it gets tedious. Especially for non-combatants.

Then of course there's the fact that such large conflict generally tends to draw out bugs, imbalances, and perceived imbalances. Then people start whining about such and such, and everyone else takes offence to it, and we all wind up hating each other, being frustrated, tired, and angry. Not a good way to be.

Thats the reason this event is good in retrospect, because we've all finally got some sleep, and had a break.

I personally have spent nearly 7 months of the last Real life year in an all out war situation in my primary mud, and I tell you, it gets a bit old.

Now that its over, the really interesting roleplay is beginning (or at least it would be, if more people were on...damn weekdays with no hugely pressing wars to bring people to Lusternia...maybe I should start one!)

Our code now looks like the Matrix because it never stops changing.

Roark also sits in a chair like the architect and just mutters "ergo" to himself while his fingers blur.
