Took dog out yesterday, and cat slipped out. We'd been frantic since then, spending hours looking outside for him; I checked sites on how to find a lost cat (very interesting stuff; they tend to stay close). Even went so far as to email a 'pet detective' (they DO exist! http://www.carlwashington-petdetective.com/index.htm )
This morning, after 4 hours sleep, I go out to look for a couple hours to no avail. Come home, about to take a nap, when there's a knock on the door; he was stuck trying to go under someone's upstairs deck fence, about 4 condos down. Got him safe and sound . Shew.

Glad to hear it. Reminds me of that time when, during a thunderstorm, the dog got scared and decided to crawl inside one of the sort of...rotating hostess things we have in the corner of our kitchen (I don't know what you'd call it.) However, seeing as she was so frightened, she moved in quite fast, and it rotated and dragged her right round to the other end. Waking up to let her out in the morning, we scoured the garden and house, and street, and then the whole town, for like 8 hours, all the time wondering what that stupid scuffling sound was, until mum finally realised where she was and let the poor thing out of the cupboard.

Glad you found your cat. Losing a pet sucks.
I remember losing my hamster when I was about 12 years old. A hamster might not be as big as a dog or cat, but they're still pets and I was crazy about that little guy and then he got out of his cage one night. We'd all searched the house for days, and finally after a week, we'd given up. I was so sad about it... but then my dad woke me up around 4am one morning. He'd found my hamster! The little guy must have gotten tired of his adventuring cause he ran right up to my dad in the kitchen while he was getting ready for work. My dad scooped him up and brought him to me. I was SO relieved!

Oh, we used to have hamsters. My brother dropped Lucy the hamster in the bin once, and he was really small and didn't know what to do about it, and we didn't notice when I put Rosy the hamster back in the...thing they have.
We found her like...evening the next day. She had been really happy in there. Silly thing.

My cat had 5 kittens a few days ago..
In the last few months I've lost three cats.. Hercules (My sister's), Matty (as in, he kept laying on the flood and getting stepped on) and Piggy (He made piggy noises when he purred.. and he's the one who kept climbing in through the broken glass door and getting his fur shaved off)
The year before that we lost Apollo and Hermes.
I hate living out of town with snakes, since that's what must keep taking my kitties

Glad you found him. I hate it when my cat manages to get out (though its been rare since I moved here from Los Angeles), especially given that she's been a strictly inside cat her entire life. After my last cat before her (he was still a kitten, really) was run over, I swore I'd never have another outside cat.

One of MY dogs got out once. She chewed through metal wire, ran across a main road at its busiest hour, went into a pub where someone let her drink beer from a saucer, then she ran over another main road into an old lady's backyard, and went to sleep. o_O Needless to say, I was frantic. She's the cutest dog ever.

My Business & Economics teacher once ran a sort of petcare business for while people were on holidays, and had to take on a pair of...what are they, they're not yorkies, but they look like it. (One of their favourite dogtoy things was this brick one of them carried around 0_o'') And he completely panicked 'cause he looked away when he was walking them in the park next to a military base, and one of them vanished, and for like 2 days he was gone until the farm down the road called saying they'd got him. He told the family what had happened, and they were like, yeah, he does that all the time. "But, geez, how'd he get out?" "Oh, see that 10ft fence? He just jumps over that." "..."
