Heh, the Wyvern Riders were the warrior archetype for Gaudiguch.

Ah-HAH. I knew it. Okay, though, maybe if glaives wouldn't work (Although I thought mounted combat would be good), they could use, like, punchdaggers, kunai, etc. in combination with the tenketsu.
Hazar2005-01-09 01:44:44
Prove it. I maintain they are a sect of Pyromancers until proven wrong.

Also, Demesne Summon and Demesne Influence added. Thanks, Shamarah.
Hazar2005-01-09 01:45:25
I do like the idea of them with kurai and punching daggers. The warriors, that is, NOT the wyvern riders.

EDIT: Oi, second double post in the subject. Gotta watch myself.

What these fellows need is a skill to just light things:

Burn
PYROCAST BURN
With a simple manipulation of fire, a pyromancer can set flammable objects burning. This includes herbs and many types of clothing, as well as anything made of paper or wood. If anyone holds a flaming object for too long, they will catch on fire, and will remain in this state until the burning object is removed from their person. Eventually a burning object will completely burn away.

But then it's like...burn their artifacts down!
Shiri2005-01-09 17:16:04
'sides, there's alway redfire anyway.

Oh, and just something I thought of, since I think the Pyros are still a couple short on Geos and Aquas and Aeros -

Flare - A beacon of fierce red light flares in a target's eyes.
*1 power*
Emitting a beam of intense pyromantic magics from her hands, the pyromancer can blind and damage an enemy. In addition, the light is visible to all in the region, and the location of the flare can be discerned from it.
Hazar2005-01-10 03:03:49
Ooo! Cool. I'm stealing Flare and stashing it in Pyromancy.

Liquidform/Stoneflesh equivalent, Fireskin, added, they I may need to tweak it.

Also, Demesne summon updated - it now costs 3 power, like all the others.

Artifacts can't be destroyed.

I know, but it'll give them mega burning damage till they drop the artie or something.

Yeah, yeah, it resets, but still...
Hazar2005-01-10 03:10:05
IGNITE changed to BURN.
Shiri2005-01-10 03:10:28
Well, it's not quite like the others (Fireskin), but it's good, and originality is to be commended! wink.gif

Dodgy name though, how about Pyreform?
Hazar2005-01-10 03:11:28
But I liked the name Fireskin! So simple! Straightforward.

P.S. I'll think on it.

AB PYROMANCY SEARED
Breathe the superheated air.

AB PYROMANCY DESERTIFICATION
PYROCAST DESERTIFICATION
By utilizing a flash of high heat, low moisture air, the dead can be preserved where they lay, much like corpses within the deep desert, found years later without any trace of decomposition

AB PYROMANCY LAVAFLOW
LAVAFLOW BELOW
LAVAFLOW ABOVE
LAVAFLOW (Direction)
In any volcanic location, one may sink within the magmatic rock and travel beneath the surface.

AB PYROMANCY FIRESTORM
PYROCAST FIRESTORM /(N,S,E,W,NW,NE,SW,SE,U,D,IN,OUT)
Bring carnage upon all within the room, or an adjacent room by invoking the wrath of the firestorm.

AB PYROMANCY MELT
PYROCAST MELT
Liquify the rock in an area. Terrain which has been melted is considered volcanic terrain.

AB PYROMANCY MELD
PYROCAST MELD
PYROCAST SENSE
PYROCAST WATCH ON/OFF
PYROCAST DISSOLVE
DEMESNE
Meld any melted area into your demesne.

AB PYROMANCY AGGRESSION
PYROCAST AGGRESSION /(DEMESNE)
The aggressive nature of the flame magnifies all types of damage within the Pyromancer's demesne.

AB PYROMANCY SUPERHEAT
PYROCAST SUPERHEAT /(DEMESNE)
The melted land releases searing heat into the air, burning the lungs.

AB PYROMANCY CENTER
PYROCAST CENTER
Move to the center of your demesne

AB PYROMANCY SINK
PYROCAST SINK /(DEMESNE)
Such is the heat of your flames that the land itself within your demesne sinks slowly under the pressure of foot, making it more difficult to run away.

AB PYROMANCY VEIL
PYROCAST VEIL /(DEMESNE
The hungry flames obscure ones vision.

AB PYROMANCY UPDRAFT
PYROCAST UPDRAFT /(DEMESNE)
The rapidly changing patterns of heat within your demesne cause those in the skies to encounter extreme turbulence and risk losing their balance in the skies, crashing down.

AB PYROMANCY TRAVEL
PYROCAST TRAVEL
Ride the flames to the location of anyone within your demesne.

AB PYROMANCY KINDLING
PYROCAST KINDLING /(DEMESNE)
One may dry one's enemies, making them as kindling in the flame, increasing the effectiveness of all fire damage to that person temporarily.

AB PYROMANCY HEATSTROKE
PYROCAST HEATSTROKE
Much less tame than its colder cousin, freezing, heatstroke is a nasty affliction. Rather than causing equilibrium loss, it causes the mind and body to overheat, inducing a range of effects that increase in number and speed with the level of heatstroke.
LEVEL 1 HEATSTROKE- Stupidity, Confusion, Impatience, Nausea - 1 random aff every 8 seconds
LEVEL 2 HEATSTROKE- (all the above plus the following) Paranoia, Hallucinations, Vestiphobia- 1 random aff every 4 seconds
LEVEL 3 HEATSTROKE- (all the above plus the following) Epilepsy, Dementia, Paralysis, Anorexia, Sunallergy- 1 random aff every 2 seconds
SIP FROST to cure heatstroke.

AB PYROMANCY PHOENIX
POWER: 10
PYROCAST PHOENIX
The pyromancer calls forth the radient phoenix to aide him in battle.

AB PYROMANCY SPARKS

AB PYROMANCY SCINTILLIA
PYROCAST SCINTILLIA
A bright scintilla of flashing lights transfixes the mind.

AB PYROMANCY BURNS
POWER: 7
PYROCAST BURNS
The veteran pyromancer may ritualisticly burn himself to decrease his hesitancy to wield the often self destructive power of the flame, decreasing his equilibrium recovery time by 1 level. The burn scarred visage is not very helpful when attempting to influence another, however.

AB PYROMANCY FLAMEFORM
PYROCAST FLAMEFORM
At a constant drain of willpower, a pyromancer may take on the form of the flame in any volcanic, desert, or burning room, putting himself out of phase with reality.

AB PYROMANCY CHOKINGSMOKE
PYROCAST CHOKINGSMOKE /(DEMESNE)
Clouds of smoke arise within the room asphyxiating those within.

AB PYROMANCY DRACONICVISAGE
POWER: 3
PYROCAST DRACONICVISAGE
While under the influence of the draconic Visage, the pyromancer inflicts fear upon those within the room, as well as allowing him to increase the heat of his flames.

AB PYROMANCY CATACLYSM
POWER: 10
PYROCAST CATACLYSM
The eruption of a pyromantic demesne is truly a terrifying thing. The larger the demesne the greater the eruption. To perform a cataclysm the pyromancer must be standing in the center of their demesne and remain within the demesne until the eruption. Once initiated, the eventual cataclysm is certain, though it may take anywhere from five to thirty seconds to reach its eruptive state. All standing within the demesne when the cataclysm reaches eruption face assured death. This suicide technique is one of the reasons the Pyromancers are often referred to as the "Suicide Mages".

AB PYROMANCY FIREPROOF
PYROCAST FIREPROOF
For a period of eight seconds the pyromancer will be entirely immune to all forms of heat and fire damage. (excepting a cataclysmic explosion.)

AB PYROMANCY INCINERATE
PYROCAST INCINERATE
By breaking ones staff the pyromancer unleashes an incinerating blast of power only exceeded by Eruption. However, unlike the Eruption, death is not assured, though still very likely.
Akraasiel2005-01-10 05:54:41
The version of the pyromantic skillset is one I believe holds to the true nature of the Pyromancer, an individual who is extremely unstable and rather than live and accept defeat, would annihilate all with him including himself. The pyromancer's skills that I have laid out mainly center around a philosophy of flame, only through the sacrifice of the fuel does the flame burn bright, hence there are several skills which increase the damage of the pyromancers skills, but make them extremely vulnerable defensively. A pyromancer would attempt to activate as many power increasing skills as possible then attack the enemy before they themselves are attacked. With all of the boosting abilities activated, even a high level pyromancer would only be able to take at most two to three rounds against a knight or some such.

However in exchange for this extreme vulnerability, the pyromancer gains the capacity for a 'scorched earth' offense. Attempting to annihilate their enemies in a single blast, or two if needed. The pyromancer becomes the epitome of total offense. One minute scorching hot, the next minute flashing away and flaring up somewhere else, like a flame.
Hazar2005-01-11 02:49:41
Has anyone noticed that anytime we post a Gaudiguch skillset, Akraasiel presents his own version?

In any case, this was the approach I went with for Pyromancy. The pyromancer always burns the enemy a little - to them, a technique isn't worthwhile if it doesn't at least singe the opponent. The 'fuel' they consume, though, is their power - a great deal of Pyromancer techniques consume power. That's why it may at first seem an 'overpowered' set - everything is at the high end. They can deal a lot of damage quickly, but then they are out of luck until they can fuel up again.
Shiri2005-01-11 12:49:02
Yeah, I did notice that, but no reason to stop him. (I still prefer Hazar's one, though...except the salamanders halo.gif)
Akraasiel2005-01-13 14:13:59
I love Gaudiguch, plain and simple, both from an IC standpoint, and OOCly from a conceptual standpoint. Ive spent a long time pondering the different classes, from the Pyromancers, to the Wyvern riders, to the Illuminati. Meh.
Hazar2005-01-14 03:49:55
I feel for you. Just one thing -

You might not be the only one who loves Gaudiguch.

Think on that.
Shiri2005-01-14 11:12:08
It's not like there's a monopoly on skillset designing. tongue.gif
Rhysus2005-01-14 13:30:17
Or that any of them are coherent enough to be functionally applicable...
