10 seconds is really, really pushing that. You don't really regain balance that fast if you're a tae'dae, say, eh.
Amaru2005-01-11 01:24:06
How is it feasible Maedhros? Could you do it?
Unknown2005-01-11 02:33:57
It's assumed that the person will be wounded from the course of the fight when they start chasm instead of just throwing it out first thing, which would never work. You only hit me once yourself (with a moon at that) during the course of the chasm attack so I don't feel you have much room to complain here.
Unknown2005-01-11 02:35:15
If killing you is the only thing that can stop it, which is all I'm reading, then why wouldn't just throwing it out there ever work?
Unknown2005-01-11 02:36:31
It's stopped by other things though I don't have a full list, I've failed on many chasm's before. It isn't stopped by being forced to kneel or by a random moon tarot affliction, which are the only things Amaru attempted besides trying to pick up the flamed monolith and use a hermit tarot.
Maedhros2005-01-11 02:36:39
I sure as hell can't, I'm a mediocre fighter at best.
I guess I'm wrong, if Amaru can't do it. Fine, it's impossible .

All right, sure. I'm assuming that there are such counters.
Would somebody mind naming one please?
Geb2005-01-11 03:46:22
Besides slinging rad (only mages and hearstoners can do this), killing him outright (Possible, if the person has the power and speed to do it), tumbling away, or flying, there may not be a counter to chasm if the geomancer has his demesne set up correctly.
Ethelon2005-01-11 07:32:48
KITTY POWER! Catacombs takes two seconds for me, so probally 4 seconds for most others.
Unknown2005-01-11 10:27:16
I'm ok with paralyzing not stopping it, webbing not stopping it, and the unnumberable other things that don't stop it. However, it should most definitely be stopped by sleep. How the hell is he laughing manically, pointing his fingers at the ground, and willing the ground to swallow you up while asleep? That is definitely a bug, either that or the text of the message needs to change so that he is doing literally nothing and his infused Geomancer magic is doing it for him. I also think peace and maybe lover's effect should stop it. Afterall, it is only logical, you either are feeling to passive to do that, or you to desperately in love with them.
Alger2005-01-11 11:49:09
sleep laughing? heh
it might be that they were thinking that once the geo starts it its the ground thats basically attacking you and not the person. So anything you do to the person really wont change it since the ground was already summoned much like eliminate... its the daegger! putting him to sleep wont work... yeah it sounds stupid from one point of view but from another not entirely... anyway if it was designed like that hey then its not a bug
ummm yeah there are other things that stop chasm...

Daegger eliminate is stopped by being put to sleep. Chasm is apparently only stopped by forcing them to do an action, or forcing them out of the room, nothing else. And also note, they laugh on the final message, hard to do while asleep, along with all the other things before it.
Unknown2005-01-11 12:48:54
I would think that you could avoid death by chasm if you were levitating, but that's just me. Obviously, I've not tested this. I just get out of the room before the final message.
Unknown2005-01-11 14:10:49
I had one of those moments where, It's like "Ah, my pixie put him to sleep, no worries, I'm fine, no need to run..." then boom, Chasm hits with the last message, and I'm thinking, "What in Nil?". Bah, I'll just remember to leave the room every time someone tries chasm. But it only costs 3 power, so they can do it almost indefinitely if they have a decent level of Discipline, not to mention they could just illusion it to throw you off.
Terenas2005-01-11 16:11:42
Soulless is just the same since only killing the Tarot user, leaving the room, or forcing the person to do something stops him. But at least Soulless requires 7 rubs before using and you know it's coming, but with Chasm, I think is should be more along the line of Judge or Cleaving in Chivalry, not like Soulless but doesn't require any preparing, costs a measly 3 powers, and have none of the limitations of Judge or Cleaving.
Alger2005-01-15 03:42:52
daegger eliminate is stopped by sleep... since when? were talking achaea yeah
Thorgal2005-01-15 09:47:10
Yeah, eliminate isn't stopped by sleep.
Unknown2005-01-15 14:25:08
Imperian, far superior to Achaea.
Terenas2005-01-17 05:11:18
Hmm, are you guys sure? I believe eliminate is just like judge in Achaea, but only works in the first and second message, after the third, nothing you do will stop them except leaving the room.
Drago2005-01-17 05:15:09
Eliminate on imperian is stopped by sleep/web/prone/lose balance/eq at any stage.
