Ok, so I'm in the middle of really sad RP, right now. Alyvia didn't just up and leave for Magnagora, for no reason, there was a lot of stuff involved. Anyways, she's visiting her son, Gwynn in Serenwilde. It's a kind of careful, emotionally distant visit. They're discussing really superficial things. Like illusions and junk like that, then she decides she should leave, so he doesn't get accused of anything. As she leave, she calls him the childhood petname she used for him up until he was like 18, "sweetling." Then she teleports to her nexus, and is in the middle of this new and scary life for her.
Anyways, the whole thing was like watching a sad movie. Like...this one movie with John Travolta where his wife leaves him and his children for her ex-husband who just got out of jail. Not quite the same, but I'm feeling the whole mom abandoning her kids typet thing.
I was actually feeling sympathy for what she's going through. Have you ever felt a third person emotion for one of your characters?

I feel bad for all the interesting and seemingly painful way Aris dies...and he does die in many interesting and painful ways.
And that's serious, like when one of your friends gets kicked in the crotch and you say 'Oooh!', that's how I feel when I watch MUDme get crucified to death.

I havn't ever had that feeling, but then I don't get emotional at movies either.. however I do often find myself going "hmm, what would Daganev do?" and go through this wierd process of actually asking my charachter what he thinks I should make him do... don't ask, I'm nuts

Not sure if it's exactly the same but my very fist mud character on Achaea had just gotten a horse she had been wanting. Golden theran mare.. she has worked forever to make the gold and finally got it. so I leave of the night, come back and someone had killed it. And taken it to Mhaldor. So of course she cries and cries.. Someone retreived it for her and she buried it and they gave her a ring as a uh cheering up gift..
That made me sooo sad. I mean that the cyber horse was dead.
And actually I did a bad thing.. when I made a new character I passed the ring onto them.
I still remember who killed it too.. Xenomorph

Yeah. *did that all the time in Achaea*

When people started dieing up on Nil from all the Geomancers attacking us I felt really sorry for all of the characters, Serens and Mags, who were falling and incredible pity for what it would be like for Laneth (My character) for him to sit there, under his shield, watching people be killed everywhere around him.
eirene2005-01-14 13:26:52
My character is a lot like me so yes, I feel a lot of indignation when I get screwed with.
Hazar2005-01-14 17:29:57
You do not want to know how many times I have stomped away from the computer either yelling, howling, or stiffling tears. I get to close to my charecters sometimes...
Richter2005-01-14 18:29:50
I have a somewhat detatched attitue towards Richter, as he isn't much like I am, I'm happier, more positive, and generally everyone enjoys my company. Because he's so different, it doesn't affect me much.
Except.
In cases that involve women. I've not gotten involved with many people in Lusternia or Aetolia, but the ones that I did, I had some small feelings for outside of it all. Like Mejhura, who's an awesome person whenever I talk to her on msn, and I'd love to meet her. Those are the kinds of feelings that get tied up and are a little harder to seperate from me. When Nepthysia rejected Richter's proposal, as I knew she would, it affected Marc just a little bit.

I think most people have a small emotional connection with their characters.
Shiri2005-01-14 19:09:12
It's not that small judging by the incredible amount of venting I hear on the boards...
Karrah2005-01-14 20:28:54
Sometimes I feel emotional sorry for Shiri, when I see the "Way too many posts". Jk Jk.
Shiri2005-01-14 20:35:28
I thought it was quite funny, myself!
Aris2005-01-14 21:10:20
Anything I spend this amount of money in will become attatched to me, such as when my Gamecube was turned into a square chocolate milk carrier.

I'm really good at working up a rage for Guido. When he's shouting about how he's going to impale all the Serenwilders on Moonhart stakes and let them die of starvation upon them, for example, I really sort of let loose and make myself feel a good dose of ooc hatred for the Serenwilde. Well, there's some there anyway, but eh >_>
Shiri2005-01-14 22:37:15
You know you love us really.

I liked the Serenguard for awhile, but then people like Raan and Mitch spoiled it for me. I still think it has the most good players in the Serenwilde. Kyros, Humphrey, Alyssandra...
Shiri2005-01-14 22:43:54
Yeah, Malicia, Sonata and company are the best. Flynt and Alyssandra and so on are pretty cool too. The Hartstone is like...empty, and the Moondancers is kind of diluted. As in, we have loads of cool people, but then, like, the runoff from everyone else, because they picked Moondancers because it sounded cooler than every other guild or something.

Believe it or not, personally I had the shakes when ordering that attack. I made sure Daevos gave me a clear public instruction before I proceeded. I can imagine how the Artillery teams felt in Vietnam when they had to call fire upon their own men in a couple of instances..........
I even felt bad when after the first attack we moved rooms to take out the coven and the people that got rezzed by it too. But such is orders...
