Don't eye sigils take people out of ghost?

I've heard they're bugged. Also, neither Violet nor Indigo (damage to/search for spirits, which would seem to mean ghost) seem to do anything.
Unknown2005-01-17 23:58:01
Well, I'd gladly have ghost be downgraded if spores and flow got the nerf as well.

Just because they have uses that overlap does not mean you can lump them all into the same category. Ghost has uses those two couldn't even dream of. You can quite easily nerf ghost, nerf spores, or nerf flow individually. If you change hermit, then you might look into changing spores, because they're most definitely the same type of ability. Ghost isn't.
Daganev2005-01-18 02:16:40
For this argument about dropping corpses, Flow is much more powerfull than ghost.
I find people who have problems with ghost think everything should go the way they planned to see it in their head and don't really care much about a games reality.

Hermit tarot: stopped by a monolith sigiil and anything which can prevent you from flinging tarot cards which is quite a bit.
Spores: I have yet to find something to stop this and I know monolith doesn't stop it.
In other IRE games, Hermit tarot was decent, but the true power was the pathfinder. Pathfinder is about like spores is here. Pratically unstoppable. If I hear another person compare hermit to spores I'm going to resign my feelings for said person's intelligence to that of a mongoloid child.

If we were going for strict 'realism', I'd imagine ghosts could walk through closed doors - including stockrooms.
Obviously, not everything can be 'realistic' for certain reasons.

Spores is stopped by many things that also stop hermit, with only the exception of the monolith. Spores are also more limited in scope, so you can only set up mushrooms in a forest.
Unknown2005-01-18 02:52:08
I guess.
Drago2005-01-18 02:54:28
If you want us to stop being able to hold corpses, why not vials, gold and our clothing?
What's so different about corpses that we should drop them, but not our vials and other items?
Maybe if we had a skill like resurgem, we wouldn't need to grab corpses, ghost and then immolate people at the Megalith (which costs a fair chunk of power).
While we're at it, lets nerf Crucify and Contagion some more.

But the two skills do more or less the same thing. Ghost overlaps a small bit, but not really much at all. Don't bring them into an argument about Ghost.
Unknown2005-01-18 03:31:32
Sylphas, I don't understand your argument that Ghost is similar to Hermit/Spores. Ghost is good for infiltrating, primarily. It can be good for escape, but it's really circumstancial. Being that if you aren't healing well, you may end up dying ot willpower drain. Willpower = 0 = dead
Alger2005-01-18 06:03:50
you guys know that there are things that can cripple/kill people who are ghosted yes? Those things majorly suck to a ghoster because well the ghoster cant do anything to fix it until he unghosts... which is some what the same as dying if you're in an enemy room considering unghosting takes eq recovery (the other difference between phase and blackwind which made one more offensive and the other more defensive.)

Someone had mentioned that they'd willingly take a ghost downgrade if spores/flow was downgraded also. I was mainly responding to that. I'm not sure how -I- ever argued that they were the same, as my main point was that they shouldn't be introduced at all in a topic about ghost, regardless of how strong they are.
Unknown2005-01-18 09:36:26
Tell me Alger? How can you cripple/kill someone who is ghosting? Invoke Violet, and the Highmagic equivalent are broken, last I checked, and I don't believe it works on ghosts anyway.

Crucify was nerfed? I seem to remember it getting several upgrades, most notably the inability to eat or drink things, and I believe the inability to apply vials/arnica.

When you ghost, all your afflictions keep working, even though you don't have a body, you can bleed to death, vomit yourself to death, die to healthleech, beat yourself to death with masochism, phantoms entangle your ghosted form so you can't move and have to unghost, if you shiver and get disrupted you can't move anymore either.
You can't ghost paralysed, prone, with a broken arm, a broken leg, entangled, pierced arm, pierced leg, roped, etc....ghosting itself takes near 2000 willpower and 800 mana, then 400 willpower every tick, you get like a minute, then your willpower is depleted and you die.
Unknown2005-01-18 11:43:41
Alger implied it was possible to harm someone already a ghost, that is what I am referring too.
Unknown2005-01-18 15:31:44
Ghost seriously needs to be changed. it should cost more to pull off or should have a longer await time.
Shiri2005-01-18 16:20:04
I should think it will be fine when eye sigils, Kether and Violet work. If it gets nerfed more, and THEN fixed, it will likely be useless.

Did you even read what Thorgal said about Ghost? There are plenty of drawbacks to the skill and its fine as it is, so for crying out loud people stop whining just for the sake of it.
