What i'm curious to know is, what would have happened if Gorgulu had not been slain and continued to grow in strength? Would he have broken through into Prime as a handful of us were predicting and start gobbling up Magnagora?

if Gorgulu just destroys Mag then sure re do the event
Unknown2005-01-13 22:26:10
Guido, from my understanding and the talking Brona did with Luciphage and Baalphegar, Nil would have been for all intents and purposes destroyed. Nil, Earth plane, and Magngora would have been overrun with those plants and the Demon Lords would have been destroyed. Also, the Nihilists would lose their powers. The tainted fae would have ran rampant across the Basin and the taint would have been spread. Lastly, the Soulless would be one more step closer to being released.
Edit: Also, Serenwilde and Celest would have been overrun next after Magnagora.

Hah, i'm sure now that none of the cities will want to have anything to do with it, including Magnagora. I highly doubt myself and the three or four people willing to embark on such a task with me wound be sufficient just to put out the flame, let alone to fill Gorgulu's belly. Once the Glomdoring Commune comes along we'll have the manpower to try it again, but in such a case we'd be pitted against Serenwilde, Magnagora, and likely Celest; total ruination.

Well, from an OOC point of view I doubt the admins would ever hold an event that causes one or two whole guilds to become near powerless for an extended (If not permanent) period of time.
Unknown2005-01-13 22:30:23
Guido, that's the fun of it. We don't know and I can guarantee you that none of the Nihilists want to try that again. Just the brief time with losing our powers was quite disturbing for the guild and I actually had a novice quit both city and guild over it. Fun RP, though.
Shiri2005-01-13 22:34:00
I guess I really am weird. I wouldn't mind losing skills temporarily to an event. I'd think it'd just be really interesting. How odd.
Daganev2005-01-13 22:35:18
silly novices, skills never go away forever.
Lisaera2005-01-13 22:44:11
Actually, sometimes they do and they get replaced.
Look at the Sentinels of Achaea, they lost Groves but it was replaced with Woodlore (arguably a better skill).

Erion2005-01-13 23:02:56
I would have thought that insanely interesting.
I, personally, would have liked to see more than what happened. It just seems so dang silly for two factions to be at total war with each other, then all of a sudden ally. I mean, in some senses, yes, it would make great RP. I just didn't really understand the whole idea behind Magnagora killing a Demon Lord. Even if he'd gone crazy (or sane). I just think it would have been better to try and pursue a manner to cleanse him other than death.
Iunno, just me being silly.
On a side note, what Brona described above is exactly what Erion would like to see. And Guido, if I haven't missed my mark.

Indeed. The more conflict the better; I spent most of my time yesterday sitting around the Megalith making up prophecies of doom, writing bad poetry about the Serenwilde, and devising interesting new ways to torture them. It was quite fun... Daganev was sitting there getting writing lessons from Morslade while all hell broke loose around us
Dan2005-01-13 23:10:33
someone said earlier that they did not like this event, but I think they do in fact move the plot along. If we do not have events, then what, really, is the point of the game? I mean, its like life, no real meaning. And since its not real life, and it doesnt affect you, if there were no plots, there would be no purpose to playing the game.
The only thing I can say is, that I hope they dont make huge plots ONLY with Magnagora.
Oh yeah, I also like when we REALLY dont know the outcome, and whatever happens is an actual result of the players, not just Gods stepping in because the plot is taking a wrong turn.
Go Lusternia!

I enjoyed this event a lot (poor little Laneth didn't...did you see him screaming for help when we got attacked on Nil? Heh) and I just want to think the admins, Divine and especially the other players for stiring up a bit of conflict and going with the flow of what was happening (most of the time).
I actually thought the idea of the Moondancers and Nihilists coming together in a forced alliance to tear their spiritual halves from Gorgulu was a really interesting twist. I expected the Magnagorans to turn on us, maybe letting us help them kill him, taking the body, slaughtering us by calling in the backup, and then immediatly raising Gorgulu and setting him upon the forest on Prime. Actually, a few of us thought that would happen. I'm glad that it didn't, for a few reasons. I just plainly enjoyed the sharp turn our story took when we had to ally. Wunderbar!
Neither side in this whole conflict was disadvantaged or had 'changes' made against them that were totally unfair. Atleast, no more than the other side suffered, so that makes it balanced. Serenwilde lost a huge amount of power from all of this, Magnagora gained a huge amount (I'm not sure what this talk about 'spikes' is though, sorry if I'm mistaken). Serenwilde is now closer-knit where as Magnagora is in conflict. It all works out fairly balanced.
As for the skill changes, well, I never really thought of them as part of the event. Roark and the other Great Ones () have better things to do than mess with the coding of our skills to piss the players off. It was just a change that had to happen whether an event was running or not.
(Stupid coworkers interupting me. Umm, what was I going to say..?)
Blah I don't know. I will just end by saying once again that I really enjoyed this whole event and I think it will make inter-city/commune and inter-guild relationships (especially Nil and Moondancer) very interesting in the future.

Doubt it.
Daganev2005-01-14 00:37:53
If I'm not mistaken, Magnagora was down 50K power from when the event started. either 50K or 5K I forget what the numbers are, not being there right now.
Elryn2005-01-14 02:08:33
I agree with Quidyboo... I'm really glad we had the whole event. Even if I didn't enjoy some aspects of the endless war, I am very thankful that we had such intriguing goings on to keep us all interested. I was also -so- relieved that Daevos and co betrayed the Serenwilders. I thought we were just going to cuddle and make up.
Now all we need is a Celestian betrayal and everything will be back to normal...

New Celest already did betray us. They were useless throughout the entire so called "alliance". They would send a token force, if that at all, usually none, when we needed assistance (specifically with villages) whereas we would respond with sending our entire Commune to help them. And then when we had the blessing of Lady Lisaera, to enable us to kill Gorgulu, New Celest refused to send help. Rhysus came, Eldanien came. Eldanien being the reason we failed. He had one simple, singular job, with little risk to himself. And that was to put a greater pentagram up, and keep it up. Did he do it? No, he let it down, and our Resurgem Coven was killed, causing the attack to fail when it would have otherwise succeeded.
Edit: Also, New Celest agreed to help us gain two villages, and we would gain them two villages. We sent pretty much everyone, winning them two villages. They sent like one to two people to assist. We lost two villages. We then gained Southgard, merely because of the changes, again, no help from New Celest.

I was kinda wondering if it was just me that thought New Celest were a bit cheap with their end of the bargain. Good to know I'm not the only one.

So, we are useless when we aided in the rebirth of some of the avatars, protected ethereal countless time and did our best to try and get you villages? Celest could of Taken Southguard but we decided to give it to you because of the failues with the other villages. New Celest could of did better but we didn't go to Magnagora and help them when they raised crow, killed colts, killed fae, tainted fae, killed avatars and oh yes wanted to destroy Ethereal?
edit: Oh yes, we betrayed you when your coven was killed by geomancers. The world must be backwards.

I hate to say it, but if New Celest tried that, they would have lost, and lost horribly.
Edit: Take Southgard that is.
