Alright, I want to (and will soon need to) fight on Lusternia. However, the only option I really hear above the Java client is zMud, which apparently costs forty dollars. I'm a middle school student. I don't have that much money availible. Could anyone suggest a good, free client?
Shiri2005-01-15 03:20:51
I hear MUSHClient's pretty good?
Hazar2005-01-15 03:24:05
Thing is, all the good systems for sale are on zMud, so I'm trying to check all my options before I put zMud on my birthday list (don't you love January birthdays?).

Heh, my system runs on Mushclient and in my opinion does it's job as good, if not better, than any of the Zmud systems in Lusternia.

Personally, I like JMC. Free and has highlights, triggers, macros, aliases etc, and best of all, it's fast. Only bad thing is (okay, pretty major bad thing if you're into fighting and can't do it manually), if there's a way to do if/else triggers, I don't know how to do it. But hey, if you pick this and find out how, let me know okay?

Go with the Zmud, and you don't necessarily -have- to buy it outright.
You could get a licence off a friend's Zmud.......or I'm sure you could think of other ways.

Mushclient is free and actually runs faster than Zmud from the testing I've seen and been told.
Thorgal2005-01-15 19:59:40
Mushclient is way way faster than zmud, but also way way harder to use for people not practiced in coding, anyone can learn zmud, that's the advantage of it. I also wouldn't buy a curing system (unless it's mine), there's plenty of people that'll teach you how to code a queued curing in a week time for free (like me!). There's really no knowledge required for zmud.

Beg, borrow or if you really have to bite the bullet....earn the 40 dollars for zmud. Its fully supported, has a ton of options, HUGE help files on how to use it and a forum for people to help answer questions and figure out new ways of doing things. Its free for the first month and if you try it you'll definitly want to buy it. Plus theres free upgrades for life once you buy it.

Zmud is only $30 US. Not $40.
Scryth2005-01-16 09:31:34
Zmud is free if you're smart.

So is all that food down at the supermarket.

Smart isn't exactly the word I would use...

It's definately worth the $30, since the license can be used by two other friends, so ya can get the client and make two people happy in one!

www.wintin.net or was it www.wintin.org...one of the two..
anywho its way faster than MUSHclient and zmud, and really friggin easy to code on it. It also is very advanced. If you need help coding on it, ask me! But if you know how to code on zmud please contact me? ill pay you, im trying to look into it and learn it.

When I first started playing in another Iron Realms game, I originally used FireClient. It's not the best, but it was free, user-friendly, and had quite a bit of features. I use Zmud now, but if you are looking for a zmud wanna-be that doesn't cost anything, I guess FireClient would work.
Sekreh2005-01-31 00:52:36
Me and two friends, lusternians all, pitched in and split a zmud liscence three ways
$10 isn't so bad, even I had $10 in middle school

What I need is something that runs on Debian linux. I can run an ancient form of zmud through wine, but I don't like it. coding doesn't scare me, I have thought of writing my own client, but everytime I sit down to do it, I feel like playing lusternia more. Anyone have any ideas for me?
Unknown2005-01-31 22:18:09
tf is probably the best. MUSHclient works well via wine as well, if you're a GUI pansy. Papaya -can- be great if you code all of the good features and debug it yourself - nothing beats pure C++ trigger action for raw speed.
