Uh, int 12, average, is not "good for magics." We're only +1 balance, not eq, which means we'd be good for warriors if we didn't have AWFUL Str and Con, Charisma's been proved to be secondary to eq time for influencing, and we almost ALL have leap.

Ok... Then change Furrikins to have 13 Dex, +2 Int, +1 Cont, Weakness to Blunt level 3, weakness to cutting level 1, Recover balance faster level 1, recover equilibrium faster level 1, and... no xp disadvantage! smile.gif

You realize I am joking, no? Though Furrikins are meant to be small and agile, maybe the XP lower gain is a bit too much... I concede that.

Edit: Add Gwynn to the list.
Shiri2005-02-05 21:33:32
...I still think we need upgrades. tongue.gif But I don't think it's actually going to happen, I don't remember IRE -ever- changing a race except when they changed them all (Achaea + EXP malus), so ehhhh.
Desdemona2005-02-05 21:41:18
Yep, I think Taurians need a small change, too. -2 Charisma, and +2 Strength. Sounds more proper for unstable behemoths. Don't you think? But you are right, race changes are... something that rarely happens (though it does happen, remember the Dwarf being tweaked in Achaea).
Shiri2005-02-05 21:43:03
No, I don't remember that, I'll just assume you're right. happy.gif

Still, though.

Furrikin upgrades, faeling upgrades, Krokani upgrades, Taurian upgrades?

PWEASE? whistling.gif
Desdemona2005-02-05 21:53:17
Let us not forget the Orclach! biggrin.gif

Anyhow, also the Satyrs got a change. They used to be more humanish stats, but now almost all their stats have been rounded up to 13. Dwarf were stripped from level 2 defense against many things to level one. Of course, this changes happened probably after a long time...

So, Krokanis, Taurians, Faelings, Furrikins and Taurians... wait?

(Furrikins need Weakness to Blunt damage level 3. They are too small. tongue.gif
Shiri2005-02-05 22:01:40
Just being small doesn't make you weak against blunt damage! >_<
Also, I actually was considering orclach, but then I looked at their stats, and I think the only reason no one's playing them is because they're not specialised enough. As in, tae'dae are super strenth, Aslaran are super speed, Merian/Viscanti/Elfen are just rockin'...so, orclach don't need stat boosts as far as I can see!
Desdemona2005-02-05 22:30:09
Okay... how about instead of small, I call the furrikins feeble? smile.gif Now a race should be very vunerable for being feeble biggrin.gif
There should be a special Environment skill named ROAST Furrikin. Requring someone to kill a furrikin and then be able to cook the corpse. Rabbit furrikins, especially, should taste great!

Orclach... yeah, exactly. There are some races that just seem too common, so not many choose them. Maybe one more constitution would be great for them.
Ceres2005-02-05 22:31:29
Mmm... Mugwump legs..
Shiri2005-02-05 22:32:58
Eh, no, it's not stats that should be upgraded for Orclach, it should be an RP-y thing. And...no! Stop trying to give Furrikini blunt weakness! We don't deserve it! Argh! tongue.gif Also, ROAST would be a bit iffy, since there are rat Furrikin, and turtle, and all the rest of it. (I did think Bricriu's comment about how she'd never had fox meat before was amusing though.)
Desdemona2005-02-05 22:36:10
*shrug* I think most mammals have been edibles at some point in time. Do not see why rat furrikin wouldn't make a good roast wink.gif

Why would you say feeble rat like furrikins don't deserve a physical weakness? Step on a rat and see what happens. biggrin.gif Delicate delicate furrikins...

Edit: Added benefits if rodents and furrikins alike where either roastable or easily disposed: Population control. Pest control, and so much more tongue.gif
Shiri2005-02-05 22:39:19
Step on a hyena, on the other hand...

This thread has been viewed about 1,000 times but there has only been 145 votes. Either a large number of individuals look at this thread constantly (like me), or not everyone bothers to vote.

Oh well...

Aren't Merian fish? How can you get a T-Bone stake out of a fish? Maybe grilled Merian sided with shrimps. biggrin.gif

By the way, Furrikins resemble small animals. Hyenas are medium sized, bigger in relation to a dog or a small bear wink.gif So, no hyena furrikins!

Shiri2005-02-06 00:06:03
...yes, and, uh, you know we get bearfolk, right? Heck, Lolly Pringle was a bearfolk. So, YES Hyena furrikins. wink.gif Also, yes, it's probably the former, everyone looking at it more than once.
Desdemona2005-02-06 00:11:37
A cub is bearlike, in fact a bear cub is.... a bear smile.gif A small bear. That would be Lolly. Hyenas are medium sized. Not small... So, I mantain that there are NO hyena Furrikins, because furrikins just resemble small-like creatures: badgers, skunks, rabbits, foxes, turtles, cubs, cats, dogs...

Shiri2005-02-06 00:13:42
Turtles aren't exactly miniature either. And yes, a small bear, but who says he's a cub? He's just a small bear. So MAYBE YOU GET SMALL HYENAS TOO? tongue.gif
Desdemona2005-02-06 00:19:08
Take notice that saying bearlike is for convinience. Instead of saying a furrikin resembling a small bear cub wink.gif

Even if Furrikins managed to resemble creatures when in their infancy state: lions, wolverines, weasels... They would only be limited to resemble the infant state... because they are the only times when those animals are small. Furrikins are critters. wink.gif I wonder if the squirrels that roam in the Serenwilde aren't in fact furrikins.

Also, turtles, the majority of the species are not large nor medium. You can probably place a dog next to a turtle and get about the same size.

Edit: Keyword in the furrikin race description: smaller. Bollikin was so endeared to all smaller creatures. biggrin.gif
Shiri2005-02-06 00:21:10
Eh, well, there are plenty of large ones. And how do you know he's a cub? It doesn't say anywhere in the histories that he resembles a cub, just a "small bear." And weasels aren't that big, by the way, they're smaller than dogs. (At least the ones I've seen are.) And they don't have to resemble the infant state, just a reduced version of the adult state. *shrug*

Quite apart from which - foxes and hyenas aren't vastly different in size. And quite apart from like, ALL the Furrikin being foxes, how about how the help file says about foxes too?

EDIT: Bears aren't small. Therefore, odds are that means "smaller than a God." Or something.
Desdemona2005-02-06 00:32:47
Look at histories, Lolly was handled like a rag doll. Now tell me, when will you see a bear be handled like a rag doll?

Lolliprin was a furrikin. A furrikin is a race that resembles small animals. Meaning that in appearance they look like small animals not that they are complete offshoots of the different animals, nor that they will have the same growth patern... As for turtles, normally fresh water turtles are small, the only real big turles are the different sea turtles.

Also, Hyenas ARE big compared to foxes, to the point that most hyenas would be able to easily devour a fox.

If Bollikin was endeared with small animals, that could probably include the infancy state of many other animals. But then the furrikins became a race, which bare a resemblance to those animals, but their growth and general anatonomy is completely independant to thei animals they resemble, though they will always be small
