I highly doubt any more specializations will be added; at least I hope not. We don't want too many races being restricted to one city...

Bear in mind that most races are restricted to one or a few classes. A tae'dae would not make a good mage, for example. This makes it harder for players who want to stick to a certain city/allignment. The point of the city-races is to give players the option of choosing a race that changes guilds within a city easily if they would rather have that over a race that changes cities within an archetype easily, which is the only option you have in the other games. So this is a good thing. It is not totally restricted since an elfen can be used as an Aquamancer if you really want. Suppoing that Dracnari got tied to Gaudiguch, it would not lessen their existing quality in current cities and guilds. So linking it with a future city actually makes it more useful without having a negative impact on existing things by providing more options for players than are available in the other old and dusty IRE games. That is a very positive thing IMO.

Indeed, but the way I see it an Elfen, Merian, or Viscanti is quite worthless, statistic wise, outside of their 'home' city.
Elfen-
Strength : 11 Dexterity : 13 Constitution: 11
Intelligence: 15 Charisma : 15 Size : 11
Merian-
Strength : 10 Dexterity : 11 Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 16 Charisma : 14 Size : 12
Viscanti-
Strength : 13 Dexterity : 10 Constitution: 13
Intelligence: 12 Charisma : 10 Size : 13
All of those stats are quite subpar, although a non-celest Merian could make a decent mage or guardian thanks to their hight intellignence and faster equilibrium. All of their regeneration bonuses lose most of their use when outside of the city that utilizes that environment, and often those races will be forbidden to draw power from the city's nexus (The only exceptions being Merian in the Serenwilde and Elfen in Celest, I think). That, at least, can be countered once you gain access to Astral.
Example, a Viscanti in Serenwilde:
- Fairly bad stats.
- Very difficult to get power (They would only be able to fuction as Serenguards unless they got the credits to boost up their planar or someone willing to keep them supplied personally)
- Their great regeneration bonus is almost made moot, leaving them to contend with their level 2 lower elixer healing.
Yadayada, ect. ect.
Edit: What I mean is, i'm perfectly fine with the way things are now, but if too many races are primarily confined to one city, that flexability starts to go all inverse on itself.

I am disgusted and outraged that Faeling isn't there.

a) I disagree that a viscanti's regen would be 'worthless' as a member of Celest. You'd be extra effective fighting Magnagorans on their own turf. Not that I have tried it, and yes the stats are sub-par, just saying...
2) Tae'dae don't make good !warriors. I can't think of one non-warrior class that I'd play a tae'dae in (with a desire to be an effective user of my skills).
3) Having races that are effectively 'restricted' to one city is not a bad thing, it is a good thing. The lack of racial tension in Achaea, for example, hurts a potentially powerful role-playing device and makes the world seem drastically unrealistic, when you consider the pervasiveness of racism within human history, and into the present.

Dracnari.

A friend and I have played Viscanti in Celest. It's fuuuunnnnnn.
(Even though everyone hates you, you can't get power, and people often charge fees for not beating you up...)

People threaten to kill Viscanti in Celest?
Unknown2005-01-18 18:50:47
Lies
Jack2005-01-18 19:26:57
Never heard of them being killed, but I've heard of them being excluded from entering the City..
Manjanaia2005-01-18 19:32:55
I've never heard or seen of a Viscanti Celestian being killed. It would be against the law anyway, and would, by the integrity of our structure, have to be dealt with.
If it was let slide, then I know many citizens wouldn't stand for it

Interesting how Viscanti's seemingly the best warrior race. Mrh.
Silvanus2005-01-18 21:43:21
Most people probably voted that because Daevos is Brood Viscanti, I still say Dracnari are better then Viscanti.

Igasho remind me of Trolls from Aetolia.

Several of you expressed skepticism over the prejudice Viscanti face in Celest. I'm going to be very blunt with you.
1) You are NEVER to be trusted. They were born near Magnagora, they must be evil, right? Thus, you are always interrogated before someone will sell to you, teach you, or perform any other system.
2) City law prevents you from drawing power. And city officials helping you get power on the Astral?
3) Yes, once my 'brother' -was- threatened and told that without a 'protection' fee, concerned Paladin would kill him. Repeatedly.
4) You can never become a full Paladin - you're eternally subservient to everyone.
5) You're the butt of every joke.
When we started, it was fun, it was edgy, it was interesting. But after two weeks, my friend, who had been playing more often, said he was going to quit, quite literally because it was too stressful dealing with all of the disrespect, abuse, and suppression.

I'm hopin yer referin to Orclach not igasho, though i wanna change my poll statement, tossed down tae'dae then did some rethinkin, Dracnari is prob the best warrior race (hell overall really) high con= high hp, high int= even more hp, (surge people) fire resistance = damn every freakin magic attack thats elemental is fire it seems, includin the water group (jus sucks vs spectres, no biggie) toss on the fact warriors get fire resistance from fitness too.
Karrah2005-01-19 04:31:34
As much as it sucks as a viscanti player to be excluded in Celest, it's the logical way to RP, good vs. evil.
Daganev2005-01-19 05:04:28
I believe the reason why people like viscanti is that they basically get all of the benefits, and if your viscanti that means your in magnagora so you really have little problems not being around tainted areas. However, I would have to say dracnari are probablly better objectively.
I find the only reason to be a tae'dae is RP and the high charisma, mainly beacuse there are so many skills that raise STR and CON for a warrior.

I forgot the name of the frozen city, but when the it gets unfrozen. I believe the Dracnari might become a spelization. I don't know much about the knights, but most likely they will reduce the strength and con somewhat and give 3 int.
