"You were born on the 27th of October, 1984 years after the birth of Jesus. "

Holy mother of...!

I've got the same birthday as him!

'cept I'm a few years younger...
Does this mean I'll be a Nikua in the future too? Eek!
Well, can't be. Different cultural influence and all. I hope.
In any case, that's a high ego for low charisma, eh?  tongue.gif

Hey curious...

You put "1984 years after the birth of Jesus..."

I know AD means that, anybody else heard of BCE and CE?

Apparently BC and AD has been officially changed to a more politically acceptable BCE and CE: Before Common Era and Common Era.

I only heard it a couple years back.
Richter2005-01-23 00:39:24
Heh... "your doomed"

With that grammar, damned right you are...
Gaetele2005-01-23 00:48:49
*vouches*

Shir's a moron.
Shiri2005-01-23 00:54:49
See, you said Shir. Unless you did this after that post on that other forum, I didn't see. *peer*
Maedhros2005-01-23 02:24:46
Whoa, I'm born one day before Nikua blink.gif.

27-1 = ?

another doomed soul
Raguel2005-01-29 01:13:39
I was born ages ago - probably - and calling something BCE and CE is just stupid
Political correctness will ruin this world!! (Imagine a failure being called "differently sucessful" or an idiot taking offence if you don't call him "differently intelligent")

I check my score and stats so often in lusternia that I forget my own ...
Aebrin2005-01-29 01:51:51
Yah, after being taught about AD and BC....

I was in the Prep then and suddenly this new teacher introduced BC and BCE... so now everybody uses it.
Unknown2005-01-29 04:03:11
BCE is nothing more that those who believe in evolution trying to make people doubt the Bible. BC=Before Christ. BCE= Before the Common Era.

Are you a rock? Soup? A monkey? dry.gif
Unknown2005-01-29 15:41:15
That's taking things too far. Even if Jesus wasn't who the Bible tells us he was (which I doubt - the Bible version that is), he existed, and there are proofs for that.
But he wasn't born in year 1 AD, but about 6-7 AD (or maybe BC, forgot). A medieval monk who was writting a history book messed up with the date.
Nementh2005-01-31 19:40:08
CE and BCE are by no means offical. People WANT it to be offical, (small minority of American Liberal/Democratic Lobbyist/Politicans mainly. Same group that wants to change the word 'Probation,' in reference to the mandatory observation period after being let out of jail, to 'Mandatory Observational Rehabiltation' to erase the 'negative connotation' of Probation...

That just gives you the weight that acadamia places on CE and BCE...

I have let to see a history book use either, its always AD or BC. (One exception, in the introduction to one I just read, the writer did explain how stupid the CE and BCE crap was, and that he would not use it outside of his introduction. His last line of that paragraph was this, "And if you are asking why I wasted half a page, (Full page if you are like me and to cheap to pay for the hardback.) on this disgusting subject of the invasion of an overly liberal society into the history of mankind, well its just a pre reply to the hate mail I will get for using BC and AD. So, those of you with a brain would not send your hate mail, because I am just going to copy and paste this paragraph."

In England, (and presumably Cubercountry, not sure if I should say which that is tongue.gif) thankfully, we're less religious as for as education and stuff goes and use CE and BCE more.

Do we mean the same Cubercountry? huh.gif
Obviously you never lived in it, Shiri.
Shiri2005-01-31 19:58:42
Nah, my grandad came from it, hence my surname. I just assumed from your attitude, that's all. tongue.gif
Unknown2005-01-31 20:00:06
Nope, I'm simply a freak - just like my avatar. Look at Gaara! Now!
Shiri2005-01-31 20:04:32
Yeah, I'm still looking for a way to mute that damn thing. There is no way it's legal for him to be that cheerful. Did he get 5 minutes sleep, or what?
Unknown2005-01-31 20:07:11
Nope - actually, the opposite: lack of sleep made him snap and now he's all happy-like.
Or maybe he got some of Gatou's stuff.

Edit 1: Actually, he'll be like that when he shows in next time (trust me, you will see Gaara, Kankuro and Temari again).

Edit 2: Where are we hijacking this thread to?
Desdemona2005-01-31 20:11:53
BC AD--- whatever. I really don't think people take into account the supposed religious connotetations these two abbreviations represent. It is idiotic, especially when BC AD have simply become abbreviations for historical dating reference. It's just something people have grown used to use, but by no means in this era does religion have a rigorous hold to consider such terms as strictly religious. Even when Anno Domini can be translated to something like "Year of the Lord"(?). It is ridiculous to see the kind of things people engage debates on.
Richter2005-01-31 20:17:50
It's like those morons trying to change the pledge of alliegence.

But worse.

AD and BC are widely used. And let's not even get into a religious debate.
