So that when you get bored of your character or things get so screwed up that your character is all but unplayable (like Vis), you just heartstop over and over and over until you get perma-dead, then get a new character.

If they RPed the suicide, it would make Lusternia a lot better, as long as not too much people hated their lives.

I think Lusternia needs to have a way to actually "perma-die", which is purely done on the decision of the player. This could make it so people could actually "die" ICly, and not just get deleted after a few RL months. This would increase the roleplay a little, I think.

if you don't buy credits you can Suicide. If you do buy credits you go down in the records of history as being someone so famous nobody would ever be named that again.

Like Adam Ant.

Edit: Or if you buy credits it means your name is really stupid and people will forever mock you.

Maybe, still on the RP "perma-die" thing, you'd have to get permission from the Divine to RP your death, and if you bought credits they could transfer them to your new character's name. This would also stop people just dying to get a new character with their credits.
Daganev2005-01-21 10:34:14
that sounds cool. But dangerous policy. I hate the law sometimes.

What'd'ya mean?

People switch IP Address all the time, people have ways of finding out other people's passwords. Imagine the arguments that would be had if someone finds your password, comes up with a great RP reason for you to die, and ends up bascially stealing your credits.

Or imagine your a new player, you buy lots of credits, someone doesn't like you, and accuses you of stealing thier credits.

I'm sure there'd be some way of stopping it.

Not really. Even if everyone in the world had a static IP, there's no guarentee that the same person is playing those characters, or that their password wasn't stolen somehow. Keeping to to one character gets rid of all the problems.

Also, the biggest problem I can see with this is guildhoppers. Ignoring any RP, as it is now, if you want to do something really different, you have to spend more credits to get more skills. With this system, you could just eventually kill yourself, and start over without any loss of lessons, which would kill credit sales.

I meant just generally stopping fraud, not stopping people changing IPs and find out others' passwords.

Like, although this would never be done, they could make it so everyone had a "profile", and within that profile you could have up to one character at a time. When that character dies, you can create a new one, with all the credits you put on to your old character... This is a way how many perma-death MUDs work.

Hmm. Why I didn't think of that, I don't know. Instead of logging onto a character, you'd log onto your profile, and choose a character to use (since you are allowed multiple characters)? I still say it kill credit sales, but it would take care of most of the fraud problems.

Whoops, I forgot that you're allowed multiple characters... Well, it'd stop (a bit of) multi-playing too.
