Apologies for skimming, and maybe missing something.
Serenwilde, in my opinion, interacts with the cities too much. Knock it off.
Celest doesn't RP enough, from what I've seen, and has a rich history that could be taken advantage of to have some fun RP.
Magnagora is doing fine, although it has a collection of persons with low intellegence dragging it down. Though, perhaps the same could be said about all places.
If and when a new place comes in, I want it to spice the place up.
I'm rather dissappointed They had it be, pretty much, good, neutral, evil. Just. Like. Aetolia.

Everyone apparently has completely different standards of roleplay to every single other person. The lack of more specific accusations (3 out of 24?) leads me to believe that either 7 out of 8 people have an "everyone sucks but me" complex, or an "everyone sucks but my city/commune" complex. Hrm.

Gwynn2005-01-20 00:26:29
The biggest problem I have encountered with roleplay here is how shallow the roles people come up with seem to be. For instance, I challenge you to go to Serenwilde and ask someone for their opinions on a city / the cities in general. Instead of being met with a well formed argument including history, culture, and perhaps a little bit of roleplay (When I was a youngun...), you'll be met with a horde of "Because they're bad mmk and we must destroy them!!!11!1"
I think the extent of the background depth people put into their roles is "Ah, Magnagora, evil, taint, gotcha". I think people focus too much on the "What do I think?" rather than the "Why do I think this?". Its all about the motive people!

I wouldn't say that Magnagora is any better than Serenwilde or Celest. From what I've seen, anyway. The Geomancers I have interacted with seem nothing more than stupid. correct me if I'm wrong, but that's not what their history makes them out to be, really. The other Mags haven't really had anything interesting about them to say, really.
Unknown2005-01-20 02:52:05
Yes, that bit about 'insanity' in the Geomancer's creation description seems to have drawn every random idiot to them who likes to act wacky and without any thought. The Geomancer leadership, at least, is pretty good.

I have the 'We all suck, why the @#$% can't we be better?' complex, I think.

This looks like the most one-sided poll out of all the ones I've seen here, including the ones with sarcastic options. Something needs to be done.
My character just recently moved from Magnagora to New Celest (well, haven't become a member Celest yet, but I've "stay" there). I am finding much better roleplay there than in Magnagora. I don't think I even roleplayed once in Magnagora .
Is there any way to send away ideas of roleplay plots to the Divine? Because I have a few ideas for what my character is going to do...

Sorry to those who have heard me say this already, but when I envisioned "The Light" as Celest, I was hoping for something like the way the forces of the Light are portrayed in The Wars Of Light And Shadow series by Janny Wurts. That series would be fun converted into a MUD just because the conflict inherent in it.
It seems that most people have equated the Light to being like Shallam and that made me sad (hell, if it wasn't for that I probably would still have the Paladin newbie I started out with). I am not the most proficient person at explaining some things, but I suppose the easiest way, though not most accurate, is to say the forces of Light are a lot like the way Magnagora acts (or at least the ur'Guard and the leaders - my interaction with most members of the other guilds is fairly limited).

Like I've said before, it's hard to be a radical city when
A) A bunch your city members are...dull-witted...
A grouping your city members are inactive.
C) We have four, maybe five very active fighters.
D) One of our guilds Champion is inactive.
And the list goes on.
Though I do try to be more of a radical character, it's hard to do that alone.

Add to that list the main problem of Antioch - the factions were impossible to keep aligned for extended periods of time. The severe bad start that Celest had at the beginning due to Magnagora is really effecting you badly even now, though you could always remedy that third problem and let Valek into the city to fight with yas .
Shiri2005-01-20 19:52:46
Celest is so empty, and a lot of the people that ARE there are the dullards Etanru describes.
Serenwilde is full. But full of the dullards Etanru describes. (We have a few more active fighters than Celest, though. Rhysus, Shamarah, Amaru, Ethelon, and the odd other can't do it ALL on their own.)...(Okay, maybe Amaru can.)

Mostly I know what's going on amongst the people my character interacts with, and there I'd say there are a solid core of people who are seriously roleplaying, and a larger group of people that range from casually roleplaying in shallow ways to not really bothering.
What I've seen from the other organizations is that the same is true, more or less in exactly the same proportions, everywhere. Thus, there's no poll option that's even vaguely accurate. There are good, solid, interesting roleplayers in all the organizations, and lots of chaff in all the organizations.
I try not to let the chaff drag me down. Let them snuggle or kill or call people "dude" if they must. I'll react IC to them when I must but I'll mostly focus my time on those who are roleplaying, and so far that works just fine.

Therein lies the problem, however. Magnagora has a lot of mediocre roleplayers, whereas Celest has some good ones and some bad ones. It's fun RPing Ellara's awkwardness as a Celestian around the leaders because they chastise her quite a bit and then she tries to save her ego by giving them respect. I RPed some in Magnagora, but everyone took her violent persona for granted. In Celest, however... it's a bit over the top, and that's what makes it fun.

I'm having quite a lot of fun playing a standalone character, myself.
To get back to the point, Lusternia's a MUD based mainly on conflict, be it over villages, beliefs, or even Gods, so people who are just here for the violence are going to drag RP down somewhat. Problem is, there's too many of those people and not enough RPers, so it's probably going to stay that way for a while. Not to mention people don't read the histories clearly and they fall into roles from the other IRE games. (Celest = Shallam/Enorian, etc.). Just because all of the 'good' cities have the same focus (Light) doesn't mean they're the same thing. I'd like to see some 'evil' Celestian RP and some 'good' Magnagoran RP, just to break some of the cliches. That's part of what's encouraging the lack of RP in Lusternia.

That's what I do, mostly. It really disgusts me when people bring modern slang into the game, though. Do you see any skateboards? How about baseball hats or sunglasses? Didn't think so. If those don't exist, then neither does the word 'dude'. That's another part of the lack of RP.
EDIT: Holy that was a long post.
