Aejan... I hope you aint a mage if you think Supersling is out backbone.. all the good mage/druid fighters opt to use much more efficent uses of our power.
As a Geomancer, Blast/Staff cast after running an enemy into a statue and fused runes was my offensive back bone. (In full demesne effects.)
As a Druid... it is staff, vine, sap, demesne effects, while fused runes hit them...

No offence, but you don't fight too much do you?
Supersling is the ultimate backbone of a mages offence. especially if you are fighting out of your demesne, which isn't always impossible to avoid.
Its also useful when you get your demesne effects up, but are fighting someone in the next room, like on the run in village inflencing. If you are fighting someone who can spell cure, you need to be using supersling on them along with fused runes, stalker and demense effects.
supersling really needs to take 1 power, if you're fighting a good healer, then 2 power runs you out of power before you can mess them up enough.

Ah, the Geomancer champion doesn't mind using supersling. Nailed a few people with it, I remember. Didn't tend to work around me, but that's because we were in a team of 3 and one of them was a healer, so whatever he landed didn't stick, but he got Gregori with supersling pretty well, and I guess a couple others.

Damn right, I love supersling, especially in groups. When I came back after a long period of time, I started using it in groups. It works a treat especially if you can get reckless on there.
And I have killed you with it before, I'm sure of it.
As a mage espeically, and a druid to a lesser effect, there is no good reason to be fighting someone in the same room if you are in your demesne.
In demesne, you can stalker someone, sling runes, demense effects and staffcast them all without being in the same room. The only reason to be in the same room is for chasm, or to weave illusions (I can do 4 illusions between superslings so its worth it kind of)
But in group combat, i can often sit there and kill people with 1 or 2 superslings and a couple of staffs. (Munsia is especially easy to kill like that)
But supersling is still inhenently weak, we should either be able to mask what runes are being thrown for more power, or have supersling changed or 1 power.
Can we have a sensitivity rune PLEASE?! I want to be able to hit people with sensitivity. I've had an envoy report that i worked hard on sent off, nothing heard back from them at all. Do something with our class!

You didn't kill me with supersling. You crippled me with supersling and the demesne took care of the rest. Sliiightly different.
Nementh2005-02-11 03:11:46
Oh I didn't say it was useless, and outside of a demesne it is nessecary. But when I was a Geomancer, I didn't have supersling... so that wasn't an option.
Now as a Druid, I only supersling once I get out my more useful abilities, or I can't get them in the trees for one reason or another.

Heh, I've suggested sensitivity too. Eventhough it would help my low Dracnari staff damage, it may overly help a merian with the right equipment. Better yet, give runes anorexia...
Silvanus2005-02-11 03:21:16
Can't give runes anorexia, because then Hartstone would be 40x better then a Geomancer (thats doubled from before, where now they are 20x better).

Or, you know, they could fix the Crushleg bug, that'd take some of the reliance off of Knockdown. Though a simple 1:1 'trade' so to speak, wouldn't be very good.
And of course I do it, in fact I did it about two mintues before I wrote this.

Bah! I forgot that the druids have runes too. I am getting old and befuddled. Oh well, give illusions anorexia! Yea, that is the ticket.

I TYPOed that a long time ago. However, and I say this entirely sincerely, if I were the admins, I'd delete all my typo reports immediately on receipt, just to keep the disk drives from getting cluttered. I do a lot of them, I can't help myself.

Apart from masochism, runes dont kill. they just need to cripple so my staff plus demesne can finish youoff
