Yeah, I've actually bugged this and the admin told me it was designed to be that way. His suggestion was to carry around a vial of the poisons Niricol (blindness) and Tetrodin (deafness) to sip them when eating faeleaf twice doesn't give you blindness/deafness again if you applied healing to head.
