The interesting about both Alembics and Pentagrams is that you can use a powerstone. You can't use powerstones for any other such feats.
When someone who is not part of the commune tries to use the alembic, does the alembic not allow them? or do their attempts just fail?
Also, can a person who is from celest, use Magnagora's pentagram if they tried, and could a person who is not a citizen of any city use a pentagram if they tried.

Regarding the idea that a Pentagram and an Alembic might not be able to be put into the same manse... that's insane. And random. And whimsical. I'd just have to spend 350k on a room instead of 150k, and then link that room.
What I think everyone was getting confused on was the distinction between the power in the person, and the power in the tools. From the way I see it, and They may correct me if I'm wrong, the tools are just tools, no more. It is the power in the person. Just as a Magnagoran cannot make potions, and a Serenwilder cannot enchant. That's why having Serenwilders use an alembic in Deepnight should be fine, as they still have moonhart power.
Am I making any sense?

But can a magnagoran make an enchantment in Celest? If the answer is yes then you are correct, if the answer is no, then you are incorrect.
Or can someobody with no citizenship make an enchantment in Magnagora or celest.

Can we get a Magnagoran to go use Celest's pentagram please? Want to see if my theory is correct or not.
Or vice versa, just don't get yourselves killed.

Hey don't look at me. Magnagora enemied me in the first week of the game or else I'd be more than happy to give it a shot.

Would powerstones, which most sensible alchemists use, count as moonhart power, though?
Daganev2005-01-27 03:53:50
Since you can't use the alembic if your not part of serenwilde, no matter how many powerstones you have, then I think it does.
Sylphas2005-01-27 21:48:46
Power has no type, powerstones have no type. The only thing that matters is who uses them, and the connection they have.
Laysus2005-01-27 21:59:55
I'm also against it because it'd be easier to fill for commune enemies without getting caught. At the moment, whenever say... Erion asks for refills, I scuttle on over to the alembic and hide, if possible, to check that noone does them for him.
Richter2005-01-27 22:20:40
Sneaky.
Someone try using the opposite city's pentagram.
Someone try using the opposite city's pentagram.
Erion2005-01-28 02:21:25
Doesn't stop me from gettin' 'em, Laysus. I STILL have refillers. I just don't ask on market anymore.
Summer2005-01-28 14:24:17
*pokes Richter* My offer's still open. I'm sure you got a piece or two of jewelry to spare right? I'd try with my own alt's but I don't particularly want to grow leaves.
Richter2005-02-01 23:59:04
Get together with me in game then, it's known that I've wanted to try it there, and we know each other IC somewhat.
Akraasiel2005-02-02 00:18:46
Yes, enchanters can use other cities' pentagrams, I checked it waaaay back when, and it does work.
Daganev2005-02-02 00:21:27
ahhh, then my theories are wrong. How sad.
Can we get alembics and pentragrams in manses now?

The debate has been settled!
By our reasoning, there should be no reason for us not to be able to purchase pentagrams and alembics in our manses.
Unless, of course, the Divine start changing coding on us to spite everyone. O_o

Alembics and Pentagrams are good things to have in manses.
From a RP perspective, Selthar has a bit of that 'mad scientist' thing going on. He's wanted to try to research how to make more... destructive potions (Explosions! BOOM!), but hasn't wanted to try mixing up a batch of explosives in a public alembic. His own alembic (and maybe backups) would allow him to actually put something useful in the Laboratory room he's planning to build in the manse he's planning to build.
From an OOC perspective, I couldn't care less. It's 500 creddies, and offers me little the Serenwilde alembic doesn't have (no waiting time, no sneaky supervision, etc.). It would NOT unbalance the game, as the pseudo-monopoly that Serenwilde has was unintended, and will be through the day that a new commune opens up. All it would do is make sure that Serenwilde alchemists would have another place to use their skills (unless the 'you must be in a commune to use alchemy' thing gets changed).
