I think he demanded 100,000 gold, the corpses of Annabelle and Shiro, and the corpse of a Supernal.
Unknown2005-01-21 04:12:31
So Rhysus says Etanru's killing was intentional, Shiro says it was an accident. Sounds like something's wrong somewhere.
Saying you killed him to spare him the torture is a load of bull too when you went all the way there and could have spared him the torture by saving him normally with a bit more work and risk.
It's not good rp to kill the hostage taken from your side because you know he'll repop, plain and simple.

Well, Shiro is stupid.

That's like saying the sun shines.
Its a known fact that doesn't need to be said to be understood.

I will ignore the two baboons. and will explain. I dunno if it was their corpses or them alive but, that doesn't matter anymore. It was an accident that Etanru died but we couldn't break the wall and just hailstorm anything in the room
Drago2005-01-21 05:05:34
So you "accidentaly" hailstormed over the stonewall, "accidentally" killin Etanru.
That doesn't really excuse that as being any better rp. You could have "accidentaly" ignored them or "accidentaly" tried to bargain with them.

Hell, we killed Etanru and we didn't even re consider our plans. We tried to hit the mags and he got hit. Hell, Rhysus even said he could kill him for it.
Unknown2005-01-21 05:27:03
That's like a swat team hurling a grenade into a building in which someone has been taken hostage to kill the criminals, but oops, they accidently killed the hostage!
Unknown2005-01-21 05:29:31
Hell, if I get kidnapped then I would simpley kill myself. I make for a bad hostage

Even if it was an accident, which Rhysus' statements disagree with, it was still extremely stupid and trying to pass it off as RP over shouts was... bad rp. If it really was an accident ya'll should have admitted to it.
Unknown2005-01-21 08:33:55
maybe ask a divine to create an Rp ritual available for future kidnappers, independently of their allegiance, that would prevent such accidental death.

Its pretty ambitious to think the life of a mortal is worth all that, EVEN IF death were permanent.
Rhysus2005-01-21 09:34:09
Seriously. The moment Erion asked for Raziela's corpse, I was like, ha, yeah, sorry Etanru. Mortal...Supernal...Mortal...Supernal...Even if I didn't -know- for all intents and purposes that Etanru would return, I'd have -still- not negotiated in any way. We're all able to be replaced. Supernals are a different story entirely.
And I'm sorry your intended RP didn't work out. I'm sorry you were counting on things to work out differently than they did. That's life, learn to take what you can from it and move on.

This isn't the real world, and it is pretty well known that people come back when they die. Taking advantage of that fact isn't bad RP, because it's a perfectly logical thing to do under the circumstances. I know if I lived in a world where everyone tended to come back over and over again when they died, and someone was being held hostage and tortured then killing them would be the first option I'd come up with too.
Perhaps the problem is that RL-style kidnapping is not sufficient in a world that doesn't follow all of the mechanics of the real world. It's harder to kidnap someone for any length of time in Lusternia, because their death is just another escape route.

Erion2005-01-21 15:06:11
Pfft, people don't listen well. I told five or six different Celestians, and shouted it at least twice. 100,000 gold, OR the corpses of Raziela, Shiro and Annabelle. We were really just hoping for the gold.
Secondly, yes, Etanru and Lyren both OOCly agreed to it, infact it was their idea. Or his, and she went along with it. Whichever. Yes, a slight OOC nature went along with it while they went for a walk on the beach along the Inner Sea, when Bricriu and Erion flew in for what would be regarded as one of Erion's regular attack on Celestians wandering about. Shackles, web, hanged man. Yrael summoned Lyren to the Mausoleum, which was already demesned up. Then he summoned Etanru. Then both angels where to be slain, but Lyren called hers back. Then the threats and verbal arguements started, although few Celestians seemed to care.
Erion, in an amusing, adrenaline filled moment, ordered Lyren crucified. Bricriu was insanely delighted by this. We attempted to keep her alive, but puella x4 only goes so far. Then she had to go, which only further caused the RP to die. But we still had Etanru! And then, low and behold, Rhysus goes ahead and storms Etanru. Hehe. Ever so amusing, truly.
If nothing else, I enjoyed myself throughout the small spectacle. Hindsight is 20/20. We were given the option of taking them actually inside Mag, or taking them to a small hold. We chose the Imperial Mausoleum on Old Celest for a few reasons, firstly for it's accessability (or lack there-of), and secondly because there was a shrine there I could use to keep my mana up without needing to sip. Thirdly, we wanted to offer them a real chance of getting them back with a fight.
I did enjoy, though, the multiple OOC tells cheering for the attempt to RP. And I also find it insanely ironic that Erion was thrown out of the Celestines for being TOO much of a zealot, while Rhysus there would be willing to kill one of his own ministers rather than pay!
And the threat of Tainting them was made. Had it gone on longer without payment, and assuming Etanru was willing, we probably would have started bringing in Loamadores, for a Rowena-esque tainting!
EDIT: And I'd just like to thank the mags that where there for the forey, and Lyren and Etanru for being such willing hostages, despite any real attempts by New Celest to rectify the situation without violence.

If you hadn't asked for Raziela I'd have been tempted to help you out in at least getting Shiro's body

Aww.. I wish I was around Kaileigh would have gladly given you shiro and Annabelle.

Ooo. I just saw this thread. It's interesting to hear everyone's opinions.
In hindsight, it might have been a good idea to force me to get a shield up, or something. It would have prevented attacks on me. Meh, no biggie. It was still uberfun while it lasted.
Also, did anyone happen to take a log?
