I kind of wince at Delport, too, though I can understand the reasons for doing it that way. I guess I'm a purist. Ignore me, I know hardly anyone else even notices, let alone cares.

I agree entirely. Delport is, in my opinion, the worst area in Lusternia, and is the only one I don't enjoy visiting. It just seems to ruin the atmosphere to suddenly run into Mini-Quebec.

It was better to the southern square
edit: Oh, bah. Forgot it didn't show what was being quoted. About the whole moved portal exit. *sulk*.

Why better to Southern Square? It's not like you can use it. Not on Laysus anyway. Unless you got an alt that's gonna stay below 11 forever and ever?

let's see...
I totally loved my newbie days, great gold, great experience even as a Tae'dae with stinking exp malus...
I never had great problems with the quests as I managed to get in just after the initial rush was over
The honours quests were great, though I needed someone's help to find the librarian *blush*
Lusternia's newbie area is by far the best I've ever seen in any online realm and I've seen alot of those...
Can't say much about hunting right after the newbie areas, I switched to hunting Starsuckers pretty soon after newbiedom.
Regarding Moondancers, back when I was a novice we had no ghelp seekers so no idea if I could've found my way... I just tested the directions though and I got to the guildhall without any problems, me being someone who autowalks pretty much everything
Though, I think it might be quite difficult to do it if you don't have a client like zmud that gives you a split window so you don't have to keep scrolling up to the directions all the time... It's ok to do that if you have a string of directions to follow but I guess following our directions on java may be quite tough.
Teaching, well, had the idea we were doing pretty well at teaching our novvies... Guess I was wrong. Maybe I'm biased since I average at 2 hours spent on teaching one novice properly I admit I don't teach novices alot anymore though since Lommie's a seccy and minister. Ah well. Hope the changes improve things, Ibaesha really put/puts alot of work into the novice sphere.

What did you THINK She meant? This is an awesome change.
Laysus2005-02-01 13:49:09
No, 'cos now there's less reason for novices to listen to us when we tell them what to do 'cos they can just ignore us and portal straight to Miakoda and learn whatever they want.
Shiri2005-02-01 14:23:27
Fine, let them screw themselves over, the city ones can do it if they want.
Amphitrite2005-02-01 14:30:01
Wow, its gonna suck when someone ends up putting all their first lessons into alchemy then realise they have to newbie kick to level.
Shiri2005-02-01 14:32:45
Just as much as if someone puts all their first lessons into enchantment and the same thing happens. And it's not like it's any more likely to happen here than there, because we (well, the Moondancers and sort of Serenguard, maybe not Hartstone) have like a billion members, half of which are transfers from Druids on Achaea that -only- know how to help with novices because that's really what their lives amounted to *hide*, so there's no reason to complain.

I've been testing the new hints and tweaks to Newton, and I like the new changes. Only problem I see is that you can make so much money that you want to never leave the top of the Smoke Mountain. My character plans to stay there for the next 100 years, as she does more than 5k/hour without getting stressed.

I had joked around when building the newbie area that players would kill themselves to remain below level 20 to stay there!
Maybe we'll tone down the gold awards there...
Daganev2005-02-03 19:07:33
Noooo, don't do that.
Warrior newbies would never be able to afford the weapons and armour they need.

I really like Newbiedom in Lusternia -- Lolliprin's quests are pretty sweet.
But -- much as I hate to admit it -- I can't figure out what to do next. (I assume the only thing left for me is an honours quest.) I've finished with the King & Queen; I've done the glassblade; I've made it to the battlefields and even launched a rock at the gnome castle.
Where do I go from here? If we don't want to risk spoiling, maybe someone could message me? Thanks in advance..

I don't think any newbie area could bring in more money then Imperian Mining. You only need 2 people and you could bring 100k ever few hours.... I transed three guildskills with money I earned from the mines, I didn't buy credits until I had established myself and needed more then guildskills...
I mean even spliting the proceeds, we came out extremly rich...
Best part, the experience was almost nil so by the time we finally hit 21 we had trouble walking to the bank...
