Man Fain-pain, talk about Necro.
Clearly, Kyra is the Urlach of the Forums.
And, as an aside, where did you put that stone I lent you? Damn Stone of Klangratch, running off again...

I wish I had done this... but I didn't. Nothing funner than bringing back a topic that died long ago.
Gwylifar2008-04-30 18:27:36
But it was a cool story, at least. And a clever use of curses. Doesn't quite repudiate the original request but interesting nonetheless.
Everiine2008-04-30 19:33:49
Umm... this thread is over three years old.. why necro?

In the real world, pennyroyal will kill you and abort your babies.

I think it is fair to draw a distinction between concepts and physical things. At least it makes sense in my head. I do not care if a real world poison is used for an in game cure, but it does bug me when words like Demon and Angel are used as they carry so much ideological baggage. To use another example, it makes no sense at all to me that the people who feel the taint is a good and useful thing still call it "taint". I think just by using that word they grant a lot of propaganda force to those who oppose the taint. I can think of no example in the real world where being "tainted" is ever a good thing.
As far as necro threads, why do people feel the need to just ask "why was this necroed"? After the first person asks doesn't it get redundant? Either ignore the thread or comment on the main topic (either to point out it no longer applies, or to continue the conversation, either way). It's like when someone says something ooc on a public channel and suddenly like 20 people all speak up saying "what is this insanity?", after the first few it gets as goofy as the original ooc statement.

It's actually veiled flaming and community hazing, not an honest question. There is no appropriate answer for "Why was this necroed?"
Anyways, pretty sure you can remove curses by rubbing, which no one knew three years ago, and apparently poor Kyra didn't know today.
Doman2008-04-30 22:45:33
rubbing?
Rika2008-04-30 22:53:07
Nope, doesn't work.

Actually, I just neglected to notice the second page, so thought I was the first person asking...

If I want to remove my cursed fullplate I changeling into a kephera for the day. Everything else decays normally (cept for those rings and things with arties attached to them)

You could, but that was nerfed a while ago.

I submit, that Wicca, Celestialism and Nihilism all get a skill to remove curses, however, it takes 10 power, and 5 minutes of "no-action" time, like weaving a gate.

I second that, that is a nifty idea, decent RP, AND a useful skill
Oh, and Eventru, Fain has the stone holding his door open at the 7-11 down the road, so he doesn't have to open it with an elbow when buying massive amounts of fountain drinks during midnight novice griefing runs with Lisaera

Actually, Aiakon attempted this a while ago. He started referring to the Taint as the "Blessing" and the tainted as "blessed", I believe. Some people picked it up, and some might even still do it, but it never caught on in a big way. Personally, Hallen doesn't use it because he thinks it's really just propaganda of another kind and that it is attempting to redefine what everyone already knows of as Taint. It's nothing something different than it has ever been and giving it a new name doesn't change what it really is. Besides the fact that even Magnagorans can acknowledge the Taint as dangerous.
Sorry, end of my hijack.

Sorry, end of my hijack.
I'll continue the hijack. I've always taught the Nihilists that using terms like Taint and Heretics are part of Lady Nifilhema's teachings. Pain is to be turned into pleasure so we take these hurtful titles and terms and wear them as forms of pride. Damn right the Nihilist are Tainted heretics.
