How does that actually make you any better, fighting two people? Where is the advantage, offensively, in fighting two people?

I can tell you've never fought before.

If it was one person, who was damage-oriented, I'd go for the quickest kill.

If it was one person, who was affliction-dependent, I'd go for rendering their offensive useless then killing.

If it was one person with a lot of ents, I'd go for disloyalty.

All of them have certain risks, some more then the others. Like the first one would probably take over 20 power, while the second one would take 11 power. And the third would probably take 11 power also.
Shiri2005-01-29 23:48:26
Silvanus, I have fought before, though I don't profess to be very good at it. HOWEVER, that last post you made completely fails to prove anything. You've just given me strategies for killing solo people. Where is the offensive boost you get from fighting two people at once that your defensive advantage makes you more confident in doing? You didn't mention that at all.
Silvanus2005-01-29 23:50:00
If you know you are weaker, and take more damage, you are not going to attempt to fight two people. If you know you are stronger and can take damage, you might go and fight two people. There are risks involved in fighting certain ways, and depending on the situation, there is a best route to take.
Shiri2005-01-29 23:51:29
So you're saying there ISN'T an offensive advantage, just that if you have a good offense already then the defensive measures will just make you more confident with it.

No, there are a lot of risks, you are just not listening to me, or I'm explaining really bad. Here is an example:

As a Geomancer, I can't Chasm a Knight, because they do too high damage, so I have to go another way. But if I do attempt to chasm a knight and almost die, I don't have a guaranteed way out, due to stonewalls probably. (RISK).

As a Nihilist, if I attempt to sacrifice someone, and crucify and they writhe out, there goes 8 power, and I wouldn't be able to do certain defences. But I took that risk because I knew I had Lichdom to fall back onto, but if I didn't have Lichdom up, I wouldn've of done that and just went for the kill.

I hope that helps explain it.

Climbing a tree is not defensive? So, lets assume you are fighting a tri-trans Geomancer, and you climb into tree.. how is he goign to hit you.

You really should rethink this. Your demesne knocks people of of trees -and- you can cast geyser.

EDIT: You can also point a staff "up" and shoot someone in the air or in trees. I have seen Munsia do this.

Mother does a lot more then that. Narsrim has told me before when he is bashing it heals 400 health/mana (forget which). Climbing a tree is not defensive? So, lets assume you are fighting a tri-trans Geomancer, and you climb into tree.. how is he goign to hit you. The pigwidgeon hits nearly every single time, its the only reason why I die to Moondancers. Mushrooms saves so many people's ass. Nymph is good against all Nihilists, Celestines and a little bit Moondancers, and powerful in bashing. Don't know what Slyph does, and Leprechaun does a lot more then that, because some Ur'guard (not sure who) had over 5000 gold stolen from him because of leprechaun.

Um, you know geyser brings down people in the tree and sky. There's also hexagram if you have highmagic. And Sylph is supposed to protect against incoming projectiles..which Lusternia have yet have.
Shiri2005-01-30 01:04:47
Well, there's runes.

It doesn't protect against those, but, um, it COULD.
Unknown2005-01-30 01:30:07
I got it! Make so sylph protects against boulderblast!

Syntax: FAESUMMON SYLPH
Power: 1 (any)
Faes of the winds and air, a sylph will attempt to knock away objects or arrows aimed at you.

Would make sense.

Edit: Oh yea, and slung runes (from adjacent rooms) and infused ones too, like Shiri said. *snicker*
Shiri2005-01-30 01:32:25
Well, not infused ones, but seriously, a small chance for her to deflect slung ones would be good.

'cause having a skill that does NOTHING, read, NOTHING, is not helpful. >_<

Hartstone can, because they are involved with their demesne, being it trees. I'm pretty sure Geomancers can't, because I couldn't hit Munsia when she was in the trees.
