In 1998, on Highland Ave in National City, two gangs would come into a confrontation. An hour later, 7 innocents would be shot, and two cops. The two cops that got shot had killed, or injured the gangbangers and ended a shot out.
Same place three years later, same thing happened, this time 12 innocents would be hit, 7 losing their life.
Again the cops shot, injured, or killed the gang bangers.
In 2002, the 1998 case was conslidated with the 2001 case because one of the cops, and two of the gang bangers were the same.
The case is a suit filed by survivors and the gang bangers agansit the city for 'wrongful death.'
When the judge ruled in favour of the police, an article was writen about how the cops had misused there power to shoot or kill these gang bangers.
Facts: (2001)
Cop 1: Fires 7 rounds, all 7 hitting one of the gang bangers.
Cop 2: fires 15 rounds, 3 hitting a gang banger car, the rest hitting the gang banger.
(2001)
The rest, over 70 shells picked up on the scene, ranging from shotgun, to pistol rounds. Only two bullets found in one dead gang banger would be contributed to the gang banger fire arms, and both shots entered him from behind.
The families had the nerve to sue these two officers for wrongful death, and other related suits when they protected many others from random and indiscrimnate fire. Then the newspaper had the guts to cast down the legal system that told the cops that protecting the lives of innocents and ending dangerous shoot outs is good.
Side:
When pointing a gun at a cop, remember a bullet is an equal oppertunity killer.
In the same example of above, you practice with a pistol maybe once a week at most... cops practice shooting every day, and have to maintain minimum accuracy scores.
When pointing a gun at a cop, you will be shot.
Ok end of rant.

Cops where I live are a pain in the arse... then again I have been known to call the police on police that bug me. Hurrah for pitting one jurisdiction against another!

In my part of the world, all the bloody cops seem to do here is crack down on us 'so-called' hoons, complete with media hype and stereotypes. as a result im now on a good behaviour bond for driving ?! Not very cool. Leave me and my Falcon be.
Go do some real policework like killing gangbangers. (Those words have a different meaning here in Aus)

Dunno, but IMO, some countries create their legal/judiciary systems too "sophisticated" to an extent that it enables for an average Joe to abuse of the system.
You know, I would love to see some people live for a day in places where the law means close to squat and there are close to few ways to reinforce it, or the methods to do so aren't very developed... giving way to impunity. Those two cops, as far as I can tell, where doing their jobs. Sure, some cops do abuse their authority, but hey... Public disturbance by gangbangers can be fatal if not controlled.
