Ok, I actually have two ideas here, but I thought I would combine them into the same thread since I am already spamming topics here.
1:
The BUG/IDEA/ISSUE commands all operate by taking a single line of input. Why not allow us to use one of those commands, enter the editor, and submit a nicely formatted version? I know if I bug or issue something I often want to copy a log of what was happening, which is awful when fit onto one line. Also, ideas (going by this section of the forums at least!) can often be quite verbose, so allowing a bit of flexibility would be helpful, I think.
2:
Moondancer nymphs. At the moment, they pacify every x seconds for particular conditions. I think this is greatly unfair, and should be urgently and immediately changed so that the time for pacification is unimodally and symmetrically random, just with the same mean time. Otherwise, we have -far- too much advantage while bashing. (Well, if you can count seconds without getting distracted by the fight. )

We rock while bashing. It's possible to kill things like lindwyrms without them ever touching you, given basic mental timing.
So, um, yes, downgrade. Also issuing/bugging needs to work while asleep/underground/etc.. All OOC command should do that sort of thing in fact.

Nymph was already downgraded, and is only useful for bashing low level denizens, even though it is a higher ranked skill. So it'd be useful for novices, and low level people, but generally low level people and novices don't have Nymph. Nymph doesn't do anything for Astral bashing, except waste a point of power. So therefore, it really isn't that big of an advantage.

Why doesn't it work for Astral hunting?
Unknown2005-01-31 01:20:07
Because it doesn't work on aggro mobs.

Most astral creatures will hit twice in one equilibrium, with a nymph astral creatues would hit once every 3 equilibriums (so, first eq recovery, one hit by goat, two and three eq recovery, two hits, third eq recovery, one hit).
Unknown2005-01-31 01:20:49
No, Silvanus. Nymph doesn't pacify astral mobs at all.

Oh, that must've been changed, because when Narsrim went Moondancer, he was bragging how he could bash Astral before me because of nymph.
Shiri2005-01-31 01:23:42
It USED to pacify them, but they'd attack you anyway, so it only showed the message. Nars must just have been hitting them real fast and SAW the pacifying even though it didn't do anything and assumed it was giving him an advantage it actually wasn't.
Unless it was changed twice.
Unless it was changed twice.

Thats odd, what is the reasoning behind that I wonder? I'd prefer nymph to work on all creatures that are hostile to you (including ones you didn't actually make agressive), but that its not possible to time hits so you are never hurt.
Unknown2005-01-31 01:26:42
Since Nymph pacifies so slowly, timing hits is a waste of time, you would spend a great deal of time with equilibrium and balance, rather then properly chasing it. Hence sure you'd take no damage, but you'd also bash a lot slower, and it isn't worth it. Nymph just lowers a bit of the damage you receive.
Elryn2005-01-31 01:32:07
When nymph is the only reason you can hunt creatures that would otherwise kill you (such as starsuckers), the extra three seconds per hit seems quite a good tradeoff.
Unknown2005-01-31 02:10:43
Or you could bash things you could kill while maintaining full speed, and gain experience faster....
Unknown2005-01-31 02:16:01
Well, the harder creatures could give more experiance than the *faster* ones, to a degree where killing one starsucker is like killing many of the easier one. Overall, even though you delay a bit in killing the starsucker, it still is a much higher gain.
Elryn2005-01-31 02:17:15
Oh, I don't really hunt a lot myself, so its not about the experience. I just noticed the other day while gathering essence from starsuckers and leechs that I could do it without getting hit once. Although you're quite right about gaining more experience by killing little things faster... experience isn't the only factor. There's also the fact that you can basically avoid depleting and hence spending money on healing/curing vials, and that you can complete power quests which other characters at the same level and ability can't. If bashing is the only thing you want to do, a Moondancer doesn't have to buy any elixirs or herbs at all.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I love nymph. I think it is one of our best abilities and would rank it alongside a Transcendent Wicca skill... I just think it's a little -too- good.

It was a little to good prior to Lady Lisaera adjusting it. Now it is fine.
Elryn2005-01-31 02:40:24
By the way, are you sure that the fact nymph doesn't work on aggressives isn't a bug? Sounds like one to me.
I remember my nymph wagging her finger at floating balls of energy in Glomdoring, which I assume were aggressive spiders.
Edit: Gah, I can't spell today.

I thought floating balls of energy were willowisps.... :S
Me confused.

Karielle2005-01-31 04:45:54
Well.. My nymph wags her finger at the cows I pass on the highway too.
Faethan2005-01-31 05:01:52
I think Nymph is too powerful with constant timing. Back when I was level 60 or so, I killed trader Bob and took a single hit the entire fight. That shouldn't be allowed.
