TWHO < f(orgers), e(nchanters, a(lchemists), t(ailors), p(oisonists), c(ooks), h(erbalists), j(ewelers) >
It would help a lot in finding someone who performs a certain trade, if you say, needed new armor forged, or to buy herbs, or elixers.

Good idea.
Better make "b" a synonym for "f" for those people who don't know what a "blacksmith" really is and insist on using the term.

It seems like it wouldn't be too helpful to see someone who is inept at the tradeskill, perhaps one should have to be expert or so to show up on the list?
Erion2005-01-31 15:26:56
Make it toggleable if you show up on the list, like Sparwho on Achaea and elsewhere, I imagine.
eirene2005-01-31 15:39:55
I like the idea, but I think the in-game term is venomist. I could be mistaken, but regardless it is a good idea, especially when we start getting more people on at one time (hope and pray) and the market channel is overcrowded and you want to find the best out there.

I want it so that it shows when I'm willing to forge for people. Maybe a buyers and sellers section for it?
Gwylifar2005-01-31 17:21:57
Most of the time they're referred to as poisons here, not venoms, but there are notable exceptions. I think we can relegate the exceptions to the dustbin of "not completely converted over from Achaea".
Personally, I treat it thus. It's a venom in the animal, and when I extract it, the result is a poison. Venoms are the raw ingredients, poison the end product. Poisonist is thus analogous to herbalist: the herbalist takes the herb from the plant.
Still, no harm in making v a synonym for p, since it doesn't clash with anything else.

Excellent idea, love it.

So to put it all together:
TWHO ON: lists yourself on TWHO, the same way SPARWHO lists you.
TWHO OFF: removes you from the list.
TWHO F|B|E|A|T|P|V|C|H|J: lists everyone in the same plane as you who has chosen to be TWHO ON and skilled in the trade at all. You can spell out the trade if you like; only the first character is required, though.
TWHO F|B|E|A|T|P|V|C|H|J ADEPT|etc.: as above, but only lists those who are the specified skillrank or better. (HELP SKILLRANKS for the names of the ranks.)
The trades are Forger, Blacksmith (same as Forger), Enchanter, Alchemist, Tailor, Poisonist, Venomist (same as Poisonist), Cook/Chef, Herbalist, Jeweler.
Question: will people immediately ask for the Enchanter one to be further refined, since they come in different flavors? If so, replace the E option with whatever the choices are. But that's where we get conflicts: isn't one of them Cosmic, which would conflict with Chef?

First three letters, enchanters being ele and cos, forger being for, etc.
Shiri2005-01-31 23:06:49
Yeah, I'd forget it instantly else.
