It appears that China has taken some form of offence at Iron Realms Entertainment, buuuut the reason I've not been popping in for the past couple of months is that Iron Realms and all it's products have been blocked from access by the Chinese government it appears, I've been in three different provinces in China in the past two months and still can't access any of them.... Argh!
Meh can still read the forums at least.

That stinks...
Shiri2005-02-01 13:02:55
O...kay, that's a little weird. And there I was thinking you'd quit. 0_o
Raan2005-02-01 15:08:12

Abjure cosmicfire China

I'm just curious, but can IRE confirm this? I neer would've expected IRE, who I can't imagine has a significant number of clients in China (considering the population of over a billion, IRE probably doesn't have 1/1000000 of the Chinese population who even knows what they are) would ever attract the attention of the Chinese government.
Daganev2005-02-01 20:44:22
China doesn't exactly work that way.
As far as I know, in China, your not allowed untill you are allowed.
Thats why I made that comment about China some time ago.

China banned Paradox Games (creators of EU series, Hearts of Iron, Victoria) because in Victoria: Empire Under the Sun, they were 'racist' against China (meaning, they were showing the history of China (China being beaten horribly by foreign powers) to people who played it).

The Great Firewall of China strikes again.
That's totalitarian social government for you.

Are you joking?
*Rolls up sleeves*
Drago2005-02-02 05:45:28
In a perfect world communism is, quite possibility, the best possible society. Unfortunatly humans tend to the 1) Greedy and 2) powerhungry and, as such, communism never works.
Gwynn likes to tell people he is but, in reality, its all just an act. Deep down he's an evil, powerhungry money-grubbing capitalist pig just like the rest of us.

Gwynn is a socialist, bit different. Even Jesus was a socialist, my opinion is that it just doesn't work at this point in time.
Daganev2005-02-02 05:56:00
When I was younger, I use to let comments like that go by because I probably believed it also. But communism not working has nothing to do with a perfect world, or being greedy, or powerhungry.
Reward without effort is not appreciated, or treated the same as reward done with effort. Its true in animals, humans, and physics problems.
"No pain, no gain" is one nice cliche, but in essence its the basic structure of systems.
If you reward those who don't put in effort with the fruits of those who do put in effort, eventually entropy sets in. People begin to realize that no matter what they do, they will get the same amount of stuff, and so, just like water/entropy/puppies and any other "thing" in the universe, it starts to congregate towards the easiest path.
In capitalism, it turns out that the "easiest" path is the path that requires the most effort from the individuals.
So Communism works in an ideal world, when you make your "ideal world" something that is not a reality. In other words, its all a product of the Sitra Achar.

Communism works great if there aren't actual people involved.
Daganev2005-02-02 06:40:02
I think a computerized model of communism would fail any rigours test given to it. Such as a shortage of a commodity. And assuming the bare minimum amout of AI.
Similiar, but unrelated to this, was a program they wrote for LOTR movie, to simiulate realisitic battles. Before they raised the "bravery/stupidity" setting, both armies ran at eachother, and then ran away from eachother, refusing to fight.

Mind you, capitalism isn't doing terribly well in practice either. I'm sure all the ism's have some flaws.
Daganev2005-02-02 06:46:55
please explain to me where capitilism is not doing well?
Capitalism has spread to even parts of China now. If anything, America isn't do as well as it use to, when it was basically the only capitialist entity, but now there is true competition.

Is it really a good idea to get into debates about RL idealogies that we don't like?
Edit: Yes, its a senseless statement to be controversial.
