Have a look at Erion's sig (does he still have it in there?)
He told me it was from TMC or something, with Matt (Sarapis) saying something about deleting all the rice growing skills because they have blocked IRE.. Or something.
So, yeah.. It seems that IRE knows about it and that it's real. I havn't checked IRE's website recently, though.
celahir2005-03-11 13:28:34
Lets face the facts Communism doesn't work above all its "communist economy" comes the fact that most developed countries products are made by either China or Viatnam.

I reccemend you guys read the book "The heavenly man." It really shows China for what it really is and it IS a true story I have met the guy who wrote it.
Erion2005-03-11 14:59:29
And I've met George Carlin, and Robert Jordan. happy.gif Doesn't mean Wheel of Time is real, now does it? tongue.gif

Anyway, yea. It's real. Apparantly, Sarapis called the chinese leaders asshats or something akin to that in an interview, or had made some vaguely disapproving remark about China's gov't. in an interview. So IRE was banned. NERF THE RICE-MAKING SKILLS.

And, Communism doesn't work simply because of nature - human's are greedy. All animals are. Communism is an idealistic belief system that would work if all of us were selfless and did not want material wealth.

However, I'm rich, so, screw communism, I've more money than you. happy.gif
Jalain2005-03-11 15:33:34
Does that mean all recipes that have rice in them are gonna be removed? Cause I love my garlic soup!
Erion2005-03-11 17:07:53
... Nerf doesn't mean deleted. It means balanced, or more correctly weakened. So, say quickening was nerfed, quicken would last only a second after eq-recovery, instead of like 3, I believe it's at.
Shiri2005-03-11 17:09:16
Yeah, the soup just doesn't release the eater from as much hunger as it did before.
Erion2005-03-11 17:14:56
And my lvl 3 chinese rice-maker can't roll rice like he used to.
Kaervas2005-03-11 19:59:14
Rice making was overpowered anyway.
Erion2005-03-11 20:16:17
Like hell! It took me a whole 2 seconds eq to roll a rice ball! And I had to roll THREE for a meal! God damn it, you people are so bloody cruel. You're all "omfg rice making overpowered!11one11!" and you nerf us! God.

You're just jealous my lvl 3 chino ricemaker can make more gold than your lvl 87 warrior. God.
Roark2005-03-11 23:09:40
This interview might have something to do with it.

QUOTE
Third, the Chinese government is run by paranoid totalitarians. Many developers have heard of two games banned there for content objectionable to the revisionist history of these jokers. The government's Ministry of Culture announced that in addition to prohibiting content that "could threaten national unity," "Online games with content threatening state security, damaging the nation's glory, disturbing social order, and infringing on other's legitimate rights" will be banned. In other words, watch out. It may be a ploy to extort operators for bribe money or, more frighteningly, they may actually be serious about cracking down on this "rogue content" that is clearly only months away from plunging their country into war, chaos and hordes of marauding pony-riding Mongols tearing up the countryside and making a general nuisance of themselves.

I think it was the "pony-riding Mongols" remark. The chinos don't want the people to know they were once dominated (although only briefly) by the Huns.

Or the paranoid totalitarians (aka asshats).

I believe that the original text said "paranoid totalitarians whackjobs", but the journal edited that.

Vive l'America! ._.

I love Matt. Think he'll let me have his kids?

People jus tkeep saying people are too good for communism etc. etc. Well, here's why it won't work:
*Everything is divided equally, each job gets the same pay. Why should a brain surgeon make the same that a train booth operator makes?
*There's no room for advancement, we're all equals. This is similar to during the French Revolution, Citizen Joe, Citizeness Susie etc. etc. No bueno, if I work hard I want to advance, it's only fair. There are perks to either side, but equality and being stuck are different.
*People aren't flawed, we're individual. Although some may like this, plenty others won't.
*No free market, the government owns everything, that's frustrating!
*We all have equal things, I don't want a vinyl sofa, I want leather!

I also read somewhere somebody saying America was pure capitalism. America has some VERY socialist views (not to be confused with communism). They're similar, but communism is the 100% extreme of socialism. Our socialsit views include:
*Public Schooling
*Taxes
*Social Security
*Minimum Wage
*Government affiliated programs of any nature

You have some confusion about communism. I quote Mao (err..I think this is right) "From each according to his abilitites, to each according to his needs"

So its not so much that uoi pay everyone the same with no advancement, its that you pay people based on what they require and advance them as much as they deserve to better serve the Party or whatever.

As for the free market, under communism the government does own everything in a sense, it doles it out according to who needs it. In the ideal communist society noone should be frustrated because they have exactly what they need. If they're frustrated, its just because they're greedy bastards

*hum*

Again, we don't 'all have equal things', I might have more things than you because I'm higher up in the government and have more power. Mao instituted a system like this in China where your government rank determined what you got or didn't get. Some people still have more than others do, its just determined by the government instead of the 'free market' who has how much.

Communism works in the 'Ideal World' because it doles out resources in a manner more fair than the free market. We use free market economics do decide who gets what because people are corrupt and relying on the government to make those decisions has proven unreliable and a bad idea.

We have to realize that communism and capitolism are both trying to uphold the same ideal-- Justice, just through different means.
Erion2005-03-13 03:07:46
See, what I realize, is this:

Capitolism and communism are both entirely different approaches to sepperate the masses - one simply chooses to do so by saying each person is given what they need to live by. This is a morally acceptable belief, and system. I need food, water, shelter. Occasionally a bit of entertainment. That's all I need to live by. However, if I'd like to have anything more than mere survival, perhaps to feel alive, I would need to rise through the ranks of the gov't.

Capitolism is simply the government whipping out it's enormous schlong and shafting us drop-bear style. Just without the cover-up of communism and morally acceptable methods.

Actually, that's from the bible. It's in one of the gospels. Marx used it too, which is what you're thinking of.

Jesus was the first Socialist.
And mixed socialism/communism does work when you lose the human error aspect. The world just has yet to find it's perfect leader.
