This game's kind of void. All of us are un-dumb enough to just google the lyrics.

"Kol od valeyvav, p'nima.." Won't be able to google it because it's just a rough translation.

$20 says Daggy gets it.

Hatikva, the Israeli National Anthem (a beautiful tune - rather sad)

'Kol od ba'le'vav p'nima' is the transliteration I found wink.gif

You "misunderestimate" my googling power! PH3R M3!

Edit: I got it by doing the search, then when finding nothing, dropping the third word (since it looked odd) and found http://www.myjewishlearning.com/history_co...ael/hatikva.htm

I'd heard the tune before, but knew nothing of the lyrics wink.gif

Go die, I hate you.

I think that means you get to name the next lyrics, Sir Vicdoohicky

*sniffle* Finally ask one I know and I'm too slow to get it *cough*. It is a pretty tune, although I realised when I was twelve that it actually sounds a little like "I'm a Little Teapot" in a minor key, so I had a little trouble taking it seriously at assembly after that (I'm over it now, though wink.gif)

People shouldn't google, it defeats the purpose pound.gif Unless we only do dodgy englishifications of non-english songs (Erev shel shoshanim? Only I can only remember the chorus these days and I'm probably getting half the words wrong)

Haphinjan!

Every friday night, all my friends want to sing is Erev Shelshoshanim, and being the silly man I am, I insist on the following song. Guess what it is and maybe you too can learn the secrets of rest.

Hiluchach t'hay Bnichat,
Oneg Karah L'shabat,
v'hashana m'shoobachat,
kadat nefesh m'shivat.
b'chain nafshi l'cha argah,
v'lanuach bchibat,
k'shoshanim soogah,
bo yanuchoo bain oovat.

p.s Do to the high amount of technological research done in israel, google and microsoft both have great methods of searching hebrew documents and translating them back into english.

Becuase I know few of you will search for the song, and most of you will agree with this passage, I give you the english translation.

May your walk be slow;
a delight! We call to the sabbath.
Sleeping is praiseworthy
when for the restoration of the soul.
Therefore my soul longs for you,
to be content in love,
Fenced in like roses;
on it shall son and daughter rest.

Evening of roses is what it translates to. And no, I didn't google it, I'm jewish.

Edit: Erev Shel Shoshanim is Evening of Roses, is what I meant.
Aebrin2005-02-07 18:59:27
Oooo I know Erev Shel Shoshanim!

But that's as far as my Jewish language goes.

"Can somebody tell me now, who is this terrorist? This little pill in my hand that keeps the pain living"
Manjanaia2005-05-21 17:25:47
Yeah it is kinda pointless when people can google.

The power of Orange Knickers, Tori Amos

I'm switching up thelyrics ever so slightly (a word or two, but unnoticable) so you cant google this one

Like an angel lost in hell I walk a path I know so well
I feel lost in a familiar way, another memory I can't explain
Cause its the bottle that seems to go thru another day of the drunk unknown
I'm lookin to fight at 11 15 on a saturday night
