Celestian... uhm..

OMFG TAR0T WITH CELEST IS IMBALANCE! AMARU HAXXORS IT AND KILLZ ME DA HACKER!!!!11.

Yeah, done. Took a Tuek style thing there.. anyway. Celestians seem reasonably well balanced. I'm sure someone else will violently disagree, but they seem just right to me. Like the little bears porridge. I wonder if Daganev was in the story of the Three Bears?

The skill that celestians have that they consider overpower is Trueheal.

Magnagora=Lichdom

Celest= Trueheal

Serenwilde= Spores We should have a vote on which is the most overpowered ;P

As Drago pointed out, you can touch it to follow them and it doesn't take them inside the village anymore.

You're a waste of time, Anonymous. I'm going to stop posting on here to you.

It depends which village. I thought to myself 'ooooh, nice change' when catacombs'ing to Rockholm... so tried it to Acknor and almost died to statue/guards.

I think spores should take 2 power to snort.

The first two are trans skills that only the player with them can use. The latter is not a trans skill, that anyone with access to the mushroom circle can use. Not a good analogy.

Road of the Dairsi Wind. (road).
The corrosiveness of the taint sickens the land. A smattering of clouds fills
the sky, lacing it with spiderwebs of grey. Small, hollow adobes line either
side of the road here, each one having once belonged to a young entrepreneur
who was put out of business by the nearby general store. Vagrants and beggars
now make good use of the abandoned stores, which is made evident by the way
each one quickly falls apart. The road is dotted with litter and debris, as
most of the village has deemed this a place fit for nothing but their waste,
which the vagrants also make good use of. A sigil in the shape of a small,
rectangular monolith is on the ground. A white marble gravestone stands vigil
here, memorializing the death of some poor soul. A graceful tree stands here,
shaped vaguely like the form of a woman. There are 2 pixies here. There are 2
sprites here. There are 2 wood nymphs here. There are 2 the mothers here. There
are 2 brownies here. There are 2 sylphs here. There are 2 pigwidgeons here.
There are 2 banshees here. There are 2 pookas here. A willowisp bobs about in
the air here. There are 2 the crones here. Grooming herself with a paw, Patchou
the Moon Cat casually sits on the ground and disdainfully ignores all those
around her. With arms crossed over his pot belly, a leprechaun stands brashly
here. There are 7 plague lords here.
You see exits leading northeast, south, and west.

Yes, woe is you, Tuek. I can't say any other class could escape from 7 guards in an instant like that.

As an aside, take ghost and hermit, and I'll take spores.
Unknown2005-02-03 16:29:25
Umm yes, any other class could. You could hermit. Hell, I could have freaking walked out, I've done it before. Not to mention those 7 guards would take at least 3 rounds to kill me, probably 5.

If you really think 7 guards are going to kill 2 unafflicted people before they can get out, you really need a perception adjustment.

As should be obvious, everyone has 'overpowered' skills. That's how things are balanced. I haven't seen anything on this four page argument that would actually convince me that spores were causing Serenwilde to have a vast advantage over the two cities.

I think you might be forgetting Dilute there.

Anyway, it seems the arguments for spore is that it takes no power to use and anyone could have access to them. Aren't you guys forgetting it also requires power to create a mushroom and spores decay within a month? Yes, it's a powerful escape ability, but so are burrow, statue, manse, catacomb, ghost, etc. Heck, why are the Mags complaining about spores when eye sigils still doesn't seem to bring Necros out of ghost, or stop them at all? Each ability was designed to work in specific ways and for specific reasons.

Something that no one has brought up I think could be useful to note is Lust/Empress Tarots. Only Mag and Celest have access to this ability and it could be used for anyone to escape certain death assuming you have a Nihilist or Celestine already lusted you. You can be afflicted to hell, proned, paralysed, entangled, ect. and as long as there is no monolith in the room, what's stopping you from telling Bob (a Nihilist) to Empress you out?

Yes, this requires you to be lusted ahead of time, but spores require you to have the spores ahead of time, same as Catacomb requires you to have the tarot card and flung it, etc. Each escape ability had its pros and cons, stop with the whining already.
Narsrim2005-02-03 16:34:26
Narsrim: We both could have burrowed too.

Rexali: Oh gods! The spirit of the groundhog is too powerful. Take it out! It works on monoliths! Monoliths should stop burrowing!!! This is so unfair

Valek and Daevos used hit and run to tank and kill 20+ level 2 guards in Celest. So you're obviously wrong in that no other class could escape 7 guards.

Magnagorans whine if they are winning. Magnagorans whine if they are losing. It has become a fact of life in Lusternia, that Magnagora is the city of whiners. Rather then use their abilities to the fullest, they complain about everyone elses, without having a clue.

#1 - shops.

#2 - that requires a second person, and requires no monolith. Spores don't require a second person, and have no monolith requirements.

Have spores not work on mono, and require 1 power, and I'll be 100% happy with the balance as compared to hermit and ghost.

If you make spores cost 1 power, then conversely, so should Hermit, no? You aren't very good at being objective are you? So it seems, no matter what others have, you want whatever you have to be one step better?

Best logical arguement I've heard yet, full of proves and evidences to back up your point too.
Unknown2005-02-03 16:42:12
And just as an aside, this is a theoretical convo between Narsrim and Tuek.

Tuek: Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Narsrim?
Narsrim: You like to wear women's underwear too, Tuek!
Tuek: Nooo... how'd you like to irritate Magnagora?
Narsrim: Oooh, can we, Tuek?!
Tuek: Yes, you see, Kaervas is in the desert, let's jump him!
Narsrim: Oooh, yes!

5 minutes later

Tuek: Damn, he escaped. How about we raid Dairuchi while we're here?
Narsrim: Yippee!
