Credits: +2. Reason: Commune Member purchase.
Is this just changed from the old "Gregori has received 2 credits as a result of a Commune member purchase" message, or is it something else new? Never noticed it before, is all.

Aetolia adopted a system like this. Instead of the Marshal/Guildmaster/etc., the city gets it, and the City leader/GM etc can move it around, but everyone could see it. Wish it was implemented in the first place, so some GMs couldn't have ganked ( thats a hilarious word) all the guild/city credits and left the guild poor and the people even poorer.

This debate over this has been making the rounds of the Achaean forums. Wonder how it'll play out here.
Unknown2005-02-04 01:57:36
The system was changed to this one (Credits go to the city/guild account, city/guild leader can move them but everyone sees it in the log) many moons ago in Achaea and Aetolia, and probably Imperian (although I'm not sure). A lot of leaders were just quitting with all of the credits they had earned prior to the change.
Unknown2005-02-04 06:36:34
Nope, Imperian doesn't have this system. It seems like a good one to me. I've noticed a lot of the leader shoot up in might after becoming leader. (While I'm sure you'll all accuse Nikua of this, accuse him instead of being a total nerd who's probably spent $1,000 on credits for both his and my char.)
Davrick2005-02-04 06:38:59
Heh, this was started on Achaea right after Estach admitted to embezzling the City Credits over there.
Nementh2005-02-04 06:52:23
Avasyu was clear on his stance in Imperian though, he felt the credits were a reward to the leaders for their hard work, if they wanted to sell them back, that was there choice, but they were free to keep them. I like that philosphy, but hey this one gets me cheap credits...
Either way, I win, morally or economically

That's actually what I thought they were for here, too. Kinda sad that leaders get NO payment at all. How about half goes to the leaders and half goes to the account?
Rhysus2005-02-04 07:34:54
I'll reserve judgement since I invented the concept of city credits way back in Achaea when people were first able to sell credits to one another, but suffice to say I think this is an unnecessary limiter. If Rhysus wants to embezzle some funds, he shouldn't be completely negated from the capacity by the system. It's easy enough to keep track of the credits received and bought by your city leader if you're honestly that worried about it, but this just takes away what is potentially interesting roleplay.

I don't know... To me this just makes embezelment all that more intersting.

Why? I understand the first leaders were placed so theres some argument there for those, but if you contest the position it's supposed to be because you think you can do better it shouldn't have anything to do with recieving payment. If you contest knowing full well you won't get payed for it then theres no reason to complain that you are working hard for no payment. You (being inclusive) knew there was no payment to begin with, if it was that much of an issue then don't contest.
Just my opinion, probably not shared by many but ::shrug::
Niara2005-02-04 16:02:33
Uhm, I might be wrong but what would keep me as GM from taking the credits from the guildpool? It's fine that it gets logged but does anything change?
Rhysus2005-02-04 16:09:05
Nothing. People would just be able to realize that you were taking all of the guild credits a lot easier. It's ultimately just a crutch for lazy people.

I like this; I just have very bad memories of being in a -very- ineffectual Imperian guild where the leadership was firmly entrenched (GM was Divine placed, and everyone over GR3 were his OOC buddies) - many guild credits in, none out. I don't see why he should have been rewarded for little to no work.

In Imperian guild credits were payment for the leaders. They sold them if they wanted to.
And I do believe that leaders deserve payment, because it is a lot of work. I don't care if you contest or not, the reason a lot of people contest is because bad leadership makes the game less fun for everyone.
It's like being a guide. You apply to be a guide, it's a lot of work, you get paid.
