God damn it, this is such bull ****. And adding insult to injury, Jack's entry got higher than mine. Staff hates me, as usual. Christ.

I just spent a week at camp, going to sleep each night snug in my cabin, salivating over my potential purchases.

And my stuff was better. Nirrti's was more significant to recent in game events and to history, so it got major bonus points. I thought they were less willing to accept stories in a series anymore, though. Looks like she'll be getting 300 credits/month for awhile.
Vix2006-07-08 07:26:30
Heh, at least you won something. dry.gif
Kaileigh2006-07-08 07:32:10
Jesus Guido you areally are rude I'm surprised you get anything :/ I was realy hoping to get first to have 100 credits for a system and 100 for skills but I'm not putting down the winner because I didn't I'll just try harder next time.

Although next time it doesn't really matter.. shrug.

Your stuff is amazing as always Kaileigh. spoton.gif

Every new month I keep thinking how lucky lusternia is to have so many talented people, and that the staff recognizes and rewards them for creating lusternia-based pieces.

I wanted mine to win!!!!

heh... sounds really weird. Honestly I dont think I've ever cared that much. I mean sure I take pride in my stuff but taking it to an extent where you degrade other people's work so vocally is just a bit too much.

It's a judged contest. That being the case there are criterias for it. Some criterias hold more weight than others. Take in for example artisnals. A person having a really good drawing doesnt mean that person is going to win. I've seen a lot of work there that were damn good but lost to a less aesthetic picture. Why? because of other weights that a judge considers, things that can actually have more value than a picture beinging pretty.

What they want may not be written down anywhere but after awhile you do get a feel of what it is. So instead of being condescending of other people's work I believe it would be more productive to try and understand the things that they actually look out for and their order of importance.

Personally I find it hard to work within the likes of a person or group which is why I dont really professionally work in anything that has to do with art. But if you're in a contest and you want to be more adventurous and go against certain things that might result in you not gaining that many points then dont expect to win. I dont really like conforming either but hey everytime I submit a piece for artisnals I consider myself lucky to even have a merit.

Honestly Guido, I liked your piece more than the others but I could also have told you the chances of it being 1st wasnt that high if I had read the others as well.

It's a travesty. Last month's bardic should've been a tie between Guido and Jack for this:
http://lusternia.ire-community.com/index.php?showtopic=9409

Talk about literary genius!

I really liked your piece, Guido. Obviously, there's a whole lot of tough luck involved in bardics, since the judging is necessarily subjective, and since you can wind up entering some of your best work in a month when there's other really good material, only to see really poor pieces submitted the next month. So it goes. I'm of the (very very biased) opinion that this wasn't a bad call, but if it was - chalk it up to bardic karma, since I was on the bad end of far more painful ones in Achaea.

As for 300 credits/month... yep, sure, just need to jot down those 12000 other words, not like I have work or anything. tongue.gif In general, I've never been a big fan of the Lusternian mythos. Grutina's story is the first bit of the history that's really clicked with me, and I'm going to try to finish it and do it justice. If all goes well, it should be nicely perverse with gruesome deaths for all parties involved.

And I thought your piece was absolutely excellent, Alger. I was impressed with the drawing of Icarus, and I'm impressed with this one.
Athana2006-07-09 01:09:31
I'm still shocked that my dinky poem got something....I was like..hrm how's my little 4 stanza poem going to compare to all the other amazing stories, but then I figured it wouldn't hurt just to submit it and I'm glad I decided to smile.gif
Gelo2006-08-02 08:49:46
I didnt know this forum existed. Thanks to everyone who congratulated me.

And also, yeah, my line of drawing are all character portraits of hartstone members, thats because I dont have much time now to be online as much as I have back then, so I just make character portraits (wallpapers actually) for the active members of our guild, and promised Nessa that I will donate some of my earnings to the Hartstones. So there tongue.gif
