Yay congrats! I especially like Kaileigh's because I <3 hamsters.
Shiri2006-08-04 02:55:49
Why can't I see Rhosyn's? Thumbnail not available!?

Hee. I have a feeling Estarra's post last month about smart quotes was directed at me. *eyeshift*
Forren2006-08-04 04:23:34
Eeep, I submitted my poem with two versions of the last section instead of just one... gotta love last minute editing
Unknown2006-08-04 04:58:15
Your poem's hilarious, Forren. "Slay cherubs, and devas, and Celestians too!" There's a Magnagoran motto. There was so much good bardic work this month, I'm impressed. And I loved Iraen's picture. (I'm not just being polite: I'm actually quite impressed by how many people turn out really high quality work in these contests.)
Unknown2006-08-04 08:49:22
I loved Wuylinfe's entry. Damn that was powerful. It said the word Hell once, but apart from that it was great.
Unknown2006-08-04 09:38:25
Hell is an IC term. Lolly uses it once.
I didn't read bardics yet. Artisanals: favourite ones are "The Light, The Taint, and those caught between" and "Golden Sand".

I always assumed that was a mistake too, as the word's only basis as anything is entirely besed on an OOC religious beleif. Hence why we say Nil. Of course, there was no Nil in the days of Balach, so they probably must have just made do with... I dunno, somewhere...
Unknown2006-08-04 10:58:12
Not a mistake. Let me explain in layman's terms.
Hell is, in general belief, a place where evil people go to after they die. It's safe to assume such a place exists in general belief of Lusternia, too (since your character is not aware of the reincarnation cycle until they actually die). Nil, on the other hand, is just a plane with demons and demon lords. DEAD PEOPLE'S SOULS DO NOT GO TO NIL. THEY DO NOT GO TO CELESTIA, EVEN.

Magnagora actually has some religious things connected to the whole fire and brimstone burning in Nil sort of thing, then again the afterlife for them is a real occurrence, as they're just undead half the time.
Oh, and Iraen's picture was beautiful! I also always pictured squibbles as a cute little thing... no longer. *shudder*

I think there were at least demons before the Fall of the empire. Lolly stated in the history of "like demons out of a children's fairy tale", so I assume there are such beings and there might be a Hell. (There's also the "hellican" pun, but I don't hold that to continuity since it's more of a joke)
Unknown2006-08-04 14:38:25
I didn't win anything, but, the one I submitted was rather crappy
Guess I'll just work harder.
Congrats to all the winners

To which demon did you sold your soul to?
Kaileigh2006-08-05 07:16:38
umm....Viravain?
Daganev2006-09-08 20:49:43
Congrats everyone.
I still think "Forbidden unions" should have gotten atleast 2nd place, not merrit. Oh well. Perhaps it was just compressed too much.

I agree with Daganev on the Forbidden Unison subject.
Anyway, though most people don't get my long poems (and why should they...), I guess the judges like them. For some reason. I just get a sudden burst of inspiration and start writing.
Oh, and by the way, my favourite work so far is Squibbles. The sentence 'Evil comes in small packages' only empowered the overall impression. So cute, yet so eeevul.
