I just can't believe "Mirandi" lost to "imdending Dearh". It's definetly not better, just coloured. *mutters* A bit of paint cancels out two months of hard work it seems. Might just give up alltogether.

Yeah thanks! I can't say I was overly excited aobut my own picture but I asked for a subject and Gyorn stepped forward too bad he looks like pretty much like Acrune.
All I can say It was was trying for a definite Lusternia pic when yours could have been plucked off a furry board. It has nothing to show it's Lusternian. Man why do I always get torn into for winning. You don't see me having a hissy fit at Feyrll. At least not in public
And there went my choice of trying the Tidal lords next. I don't like to do the same thing as others. :/
Diamondais2006-09-09 18:21:08
Everyone style is different, I personally think Kaileigh has a unique almost waterish feel to her work that makes it blend wonderfully.
Be happy you have a beautiful style of your own Felendi.

Yes, my advice is give up, especially if you're just going to be a when someone submits something better than you. It's a nicer picture with more relevance to the Lusternian world, rather than just a picture of a catgirl.
Note, that censored words is 4 letters, and begins with c.
And no, cookie has 6 letters.

Oh please... if you continue whining that things don't always go YOUR way, people'll start to think you're from New Celest.
Unknown2006-09-09 18:53:24
I think that your work loses points if it's too general. Like the Union thingie. Demons don't look like that. That looks like a general demon. Also with the cat people.
Now if you start to make things that could have more lore in it, like a Cat girl killing a gorgog or maybe a fox boy riding a turtle, wearing robes and with a staff made of coral, you can and probably will earn lots of points with the judges.

Congratulations to all of the winners. The standard of entry was raised particularly high this time, and it lessens the sting of having fallen short. Well done.
Vix2006-09-09 19:51:33
I'm sad I didn't make it. Thought mine was actually better than the one I submitted last month actually. Maybe the others were just really, really good this month. I'll get you - and your dumb dog too!

Unless you noticed, dear. I was only talking about Kaileigh's drawing, I have nothing against her or her art in person. Indeed, I consider her to be one of the most talented artists here! I have never once whined about that I haven't placed first with my art, simply becuse I have always considered the winning submissions to be better than mine. Feyrll's work this month was no excuse, it is simply lovely and deserved the win. I only didn't agree on the placing of mine and Kailegh's drawing, and I do have the right to voice my opinion. I am sorry if you think my drawing is an avarage work that has no relevance to Lusternia.
Oh, right. Cake

And everyone has the right to call you out on your opinion. When you insult my art you are insulting me.

I think people are taking the whole matter a tad too seriously.
To those who won, congratulations, you did a really good job
To those who didn't, congratulations, you did a really good job too.
I do not see the point in being bitter over losing or starting to compare pieces. Whoever makes the attempt and wins, wins. I cannot judge truly because I did win a couple of times in the past, but I -do- know how it feels to lose repeatedly... and it can get frustrating, but that's no one's fault... so do try to remove the sting from your posts.
And to those who get hurt by it, try not to... people sometimes just need to let out some steam, if that is their way... okay, for your own sake, simply disregard said comments rather than take them personally.
Have a good day peoples. And again, congrats to everyone.

Congrats to all the winners! Though, I really haven't check them yet, I'm sure they are deserving.
I forgot to submit mine though, Blame my boss...
On a side note, to all who didn't make it, dont give up. What doesn't kill you -should- make you stronger!
Heck, this is just a contest, I've been doing advertising prints for real clients and my rejected studies pile up waaay taller than my approved studies. If my study doesn't get approved, I just suck it up and do something better (while cursing them, of course)... Kidding! tehehee!
Yay to all the artist and bards of Lusternia!

Well, I DID praise your artistic abilites as well... Not to mention that I felt my own art was insulted before that.
Ah well, nothing I say will change the outcome of this anyway, lets just everybody hug and make up, alright?

I'm less partial to works which seem to be just a character portrait which has almost no visual link to Lusti other then "this is an aslaran" "this is an angel and demon", "this is a viscanti" in the title. I think Gelo started the trend, at least I liked the work put into his background/boarders though As for Iminent Dearh being better then Mirandi, I have to agree. Plus, as it was mentioned Mirandi is only lusternian 'because the artist says so' where as I love the swarm of fae surrounding a concerned aquamancer. Kaileigh usually dishes out some prime prices of artwork with slightly comical themes.
I noticed two artists picked up on the recent celestian aggression. The other being the winner for artisinal. One of my highschool art teachers used to like to say "art reflects life" so often. Don’t get me wrong, I could see the time and skill spent on that sketch of Mirandi, I just applaud any artists who take the time to tailor their prices to be that much more Lusternian.

The only reason why I did character portraits is because I get attached to players who bonds with Gelo. If your playing Lusternia since Beta, you would notice too that most of Gelo's batchmates have retired already. You never really know when you will last see them, or if you will ever see them again. So I make character portraits (wallpapers actually, if you have noticed) for them so that even when they retire, they will still have something that will remind them of Lusternia, of the people there, of the fun and laughter, of the trials and sadness, of the times we shared... *waits for people to shout emo*
I could have made works like Charune, being hit with a flying high heels of Estarra, or something but that woul...
um...
WHY NOT???
HEY THIS IS MY IDEA!!!!

Congrats! I always enjoy looking at other people's art
And to the winner Feryll... wow How do people get the colours and light to be so perfect?? Is there some kind of magic paintbrush that I'm missing out on?
I'll try to read on the bardics when I've got some time... already have enough of my own reading >.< Just curious though, is the poem in there by Nirrti the same one entered into the poetry contest? It's very good!
