Wtf? This is like, one person every month now
Daganev2006-12-11 23:49:27
There should be some rule about needing a certain amount of hours logged into to submit works
Oh also, if you submit your entry on the last day of the month, odds are , you will actually be submitting it for the next month.

The person shrubbed this time wasn't a brand new newbie. She was even planning her wedding.
Unknown2006-12-11 23:57:26
She was a Spiritsinger too...
Gandal2006-12-12 00:19:59
Which one?
Vix2006-12-12 03:30:26
From the Character Artwork page. The second link "Lumi's Submission" doesn't work as the piece has been removed.
I was looking at the submissions on the recent artisanal contest. Lumi's looked really familiar to me, it looks just like one of Jonathan Earl's sketches. Hopefully whoever Lumi is, is just a really good artist and uses the same style that Earl does or maybe he did the character portrait for her. He should probably get credit if that is the case. If I am wrong, I apologize in advance.
Jonathan Earl art, Waiting for Parsival
Lumi's submission
Oddly enough, the link says Lumi.

What if Lumi is that artist... that would be bizarre
Felandi2006-12-12 19:48:55
Yeah, why -does- that link say Lumi anyway?

That is why I thought maybe the artist did a character portrait for her, but that particular piece has been around for a long time. I was hoping I was wrong.
I wonder if there is a way to prevent things like this in future. The only reason I recognized it is because I know lots of people that like to use his work to represent what their characters look like. That particular one was actually used by someone in Imperian.
Unknown2006-12-12 20:49:39
Bah, how depressing.
Lendren2006-12-12 21:42:28
Maybe she picked the name based on that image.
Unknown2006-12-12 23:15:06
What still amazes me is that people actually think they're going to get away with it.
Then again, I suppose the same can be said for any crime... Wow, life's screwed up. As usual.

Gandal2006-12-12 23:47:20
Was it exactly the same thing?
Unknown2006-12-13 00:44:56
Not exactly, but it was still too close to be counted as merely a reference, IMO.
Bhiele2006-12-13 00:49:52
The only difference is in the link I have posted, the picture is done in color. The one submitted for the contest was in pencil. It was the same image of the face, Lumi neglected to put in the background that the original had.
I found out why the link may say "Lumi" is because when you click on "details" on the link I posted, it is named "Luminous Wind"

Gandal2006-12-13 23:55:36
Maybe the whole character was a scam?
Gelo2006-12-16 07:44:51
I knew that entry was a rip-off from the very start... I just dont have the evidence to support it
She could have copied it in pencil, in which case, shes a good sketcher but she could have used it as a basis, not entirely copy it.
That ooor... the photoshop way: feather-mask-grayscale-noise-unsharp mask
EDIT: She drew it herself. I checked Earl's file. It's way too lowres to be able to edit in photoshop.

Congrats to the winners of the artisanals and bardics, there were a lot of good entries this month.

Agreed. I'm really impressed with the quality that goes into Lusternian entries.
I also think Alodia's artisanal entry has given me a new fetish.
Abethor2007-01-05 20:51:26
Yes, Congrats!
My only disappointment was that I was going to submit a play for bardic this month, but apparently somebody snuck it in before me. I'll probably still shoot for it though.
