Aison, thank you. I appreciate it very much!
I agree, as well... Bardics didn't get much love! I know artisanals are easy to browse, and it takes a lot of time and effort to read all the bardics.
But I would like to return the favor and say I really enjoyed your piece. I agree that you pulled off the first person pretty well, and I enjoyed many of your images.
I was especially tickled at THIS observation - "That unique scent of the undead." - because I have never heard it from anyone else, and it's something I've particularly entertained, and even recently designed one of those Victorian-esque perfume pendants in Linaeve style for her to wear to mask that undead scent. Hee!

Kick . I was trying to imagine what it'd be like for a Celestian to go Mag -- just how strange the smells would be, in tune with the different type of architecture and city-structure. Interesting about the scent of the undead -- I'm glad you play on it. It makes my roleplay experience that much more enriching.
I noticed a lot of typos in the one I submitted. Seems I submitted the old version rather than the edited one. They were the same thing, just a few tweaks here and there -- but thank you!
Here's to hoping people will take the time to read the Bardic entries. None of them are ever very long and you can always print them out and read them at your leisure.

Oh man, I you.
Thank you very much. It wasn't really supposed to be compelling. It just made me giggle to write it. Nymphs throwing acorns! I love it!
I've got another play in mind, but so far I'm in a rut with it. It's about one of the unnamed Vernal Gods. But you know how it is, you think of something too hard and what comes out in writing is stilted and unnatural. So I wrote something utterly ridiculous instead!
I don't sweat it! I just make a scene!

You're welcome. I very much enjoyed seeing it played on stage, in game. Your plays are always a lot of fun! I am trying to work on a play for production of my own, but it's difficult.

I imagine Magnagora would have many strong, conflicting smells. I don't think I'd want to live there as an Aslaran or Loboshigaru.

It's not been created yet, because I've had too many other things to design before the IG year ends, but the concept is basically something like this --
a scented filigree urn pendant
a gold filigree perfume pendant
... or something "chambered." I can't get the appearance wording right quite yet, but imagine it as a miniature urn or phial of gold filigree that holds a perfume sachet and can be opened and closed, sachet can be removed, to dip in whatever lovely fragranced oil..

I think I just missed the deadline for submitting an artisnal piece because I can't figure out how to reduce the number of bytes in the picture... and therefore cannot be a winner

Aw, that sucks.
I guess you've got a jump on next month though.

And congrats to everyone else

Hmm, time for comments!
Feyrll: Cooolor iiiit.
Fania: Would be interesting to know the media used.
Simimi: WTF is that thing, a glaive? If I didn't know better I'd say you ripped that, heh.
Noola: Kamehameha?
Reiha: Laaaazy.
Inky: That thing is demented.
Lenalith: Haha, very creative.
Elu: Cool, nice style.
Lysandus: Consider my command to Feyrll to be applicable to you as well, line boy.
Overall, though, it's more proof that stuff doesn't have to be "distinctly Lusternian". Most of them could be for just about any fantasy game, and are only Lusternian in name. Oh well...now I'm kicking myself for not finishing my picture in time.

Pff, you're supposed to berate them. USE COLOR, LOSERS.
Lysandus2007-12-12 06:12:11
holy ****, this is my first time to get first place.
@Kromsh - nah, too lazy to draw, spent most of my time shading it
EDIT:
When I mean draw, I mean colored, sheesh.

What does it mean?
I am SO freakin excited I won something! You have no idea. I did that picture in like 10 minutes while I was watching History International and wanting something to do with my hands. When I 'finished' it, I decided on a whim to enter it. I don't have a scanner so I took a picture with my digital camera and cropped it a bit. After I entered it I looked at the drawing again and went, Urgh. I didn't figure I'd win anything! Yay!!!!
And congrats to everyone else too! Feyrll and Lysandus, ya'll are AWESOME! And yay Lenalith! That's such a neat little sculpture! And don't listen to Kromsh, Reiha! Yours is cool and abstract. Everyone's was awesome though. Simimi and Fania and Incabulos and Elu! I like Lenalith's best cause it's a sculpture though!

If you do something solely with Lusternia in mind is it not Lusternian? I don't know where else you find red, yellow, and purple glowing squid. I'm sure the others can say the same for their stuff *shrug*

Yet again, no love for Bardics.
For shame, all of you.
I'll be reading them throughout the week and will post up my stuff!

I actually got pointed to Lendren's, and despite a few points where the facts were stretched, it was actually pretty close (and the facts were stretched to make it a better story from the Seren perspective, without going really overboard, so don't really have any complaints). If anyone's a bit curious about the OOC "birth of the Glomdoring"-- that's a good place to start (though Glom does, of course, have a bit of a different viewpoint! Those silly mass delusions.)

It is a BT, who also wields a Waraxe that I met one day in the Skarch... seriously, like the description says.

notrly. Say I'm drawing a picture with an aslaran in mind. It turns out to be a furry in a robe with a generic background. I call it an aslaran geomancer. Lusternian? No.

A normal BT wouldn't just randomly wield a waraxe in the Skarch (or so I'd hope), the description doesn't say anything about a waraxe (cut off?), that doesn't look like a realistic waraxe (which Lusternia has, or so I'd hope), it's night-time (with zomg generic lens flare? ) and that doesn't look like a desert (though, granted, those could be the mountains around it). It's a great picture (other than the PS lens flare, bad Mimi), but it just doesn't strike me as "distinctly Lusternian". I could go on like this for most pictures ever submitted in the history of the artisinals, but that would only get more people pissed at me.
And upon enlarging the pic, generic PS textures too?! For shame, Mimi, I know you can do better! And if you can't, I will point you to some great tutorials.
What's that, you say? You weren't looking for an art critic? Oh, right, crap. My bad.
Unknown2007-12-13 04:24:48
I'd imagine it'd be very hard to make a visual look distinctly anything, especially when compared to like a piece of writing (btw I wish I had Lendren's motivation to write like that). It just takes a little stretching of the imagination sometimes, I guess, to see how things fit it. That said though, I notice almost all entries are portraits or bodyshots of some sort, not that it's a bad thing. But don't neglect the ripe Lusternian landscape, it's just waiting to be painted too!!
