QUOTE
Gwylifar: People need to stop playing the "get into the events post" game and just stick to roleplaying. This isn't about limelight, and people will get more chances at fun if they just play along in character instead of metagaming ways to steal more limelight.
QUOTE
Estarra: I notice the adders are back in Oleanvir Valley! Congratulations on those who were involved? So can someone list who were the major players in the event?
Well, it sure sounds like there's a good insentive to be a tag-along, when a Divine starts asking who the major players were. But I agree with you completely about it. People that come along just to be there should just stay home.
I tried to help, but I was always stopped at the political level. I just gave up when I would get summoned for trying to help.
Gwylifar2005-02-07 21:20:14
People should be tagging along to roleplay because roleplaying is fun, funner than anything else. They should, therefore, have IC reasons for being there, and thus, be part of it, not just standing next to it.
I keep having that bit of Alice's Restaurant run through my head. "But when we got to the scene of the crime, there were five police officers and two police cars, this being the biggest crime of the last half century and everybody wanted to get in the newspaper story 'bout it!" Did anyone get any 8x10 color glossy photos of the adders, with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us?
(Edit: Oh, please, I hope we don't get most of you saying "what the heck is that?" I'm not that old.)

...I'm sorry, Gwylifar, but I have to ask, and not just out of spite, I really have no idea what you're on about. What the heck is that?
Rauros2005-02-08 00:32:28
Yeah, I'm pretty lost there too. Must be a cultural thing. I mainly stick to zombie movies and comedies.
Daganev2005-02-08 00:39:23
I know alice's resturant. the Rest of them are just uncultured swine.
edit: by the way, its a song, not a movie.

Daganev, you know all about everything even remotely related to that kind of thing, you don't count. I mean, you even like cool stuff like Ghost in the Shell.
Daganev2005-02-08 01:58:16
"That kind of thing?"
Alice's resturant is about as Hick a song as you can get. Its not even really a song!
Its about as songy as The Daily show is a News Program.
And I think its from the 50's or 60's.
But yeah, I guess I do know quite a bit of subcultures.
Its one of the advantages of the fact that the only thing I have in common with most of my friends is that we were born into the same relgion, and who wants to talk about Religion?

Whoever posted on that giant long topic about creationism? That is in the top 10 largest topics so far?
EDIT: 3000 posts, yo.

It's a song from the sixties. Lots of classic rock stations still play it every Thanksgiving. It's about 25 minutes long, and most of it is really just storytelling with a guitar. It's hilarious in parts, and in a way it's a folkie war protest song protesting the draft, but it takes a long time to get to the point where that becomes clear. A movie was later made loosely based on it.
My quote comes from fairly early in, where the protagonist has been arrested for littering, in a perfect example of a small-town sheriff gone a little over the deep end out of boredom since nothing ever happens in his small town that needs a sheriff.
If you really care, here are the lyrics, though with something like this, it's really all in the delivery.
As for how old I am... I think I am pretty nearly exactly as old as this song.

There's five adders I can find in the valley. As for when you can kill them... IC, if you want them to remain strong and still be around, you could probably do to wait a year or two. OOC, you probably can now, because barring divine intervention (which is by no means impossible here! yay!) they're likely going to reset the same way everything else does. Though why you'd want to I can't guess: they're not good hunting and their poison is not likely to be in any demand.
Alger, I didn't turn anyone way and I didn't get anyone enemied. I don't know to whom you're referring, though, so I hope it's not me. IC you have to understand why I might be wary of trusting someone like Daevos, but in the end, for the adders, I offered to do just that. I'm not sure what more I could have done.
At no point did I do anything to exclude anyone from participation save only to discourage hangers-on that were not seeking participation (and I didn't even succeed in that).

Now if I can just find out where the chansu is... not likely to sell it, more just for completeness, really.

So it's like.. No one wants to tell anyone anything because they all want the credit..
Just like all the big strong people kill the others over the Hallifax gaudy thing.. We kill you, you can't get the credit.
I saw the dead adders..but for some reason I couldn't pick them up.

In the events post, they spelled Silvanus' last name wrong..

Heh.. What makes you think it was a mortals fault? For all we know, the Divine might be messing with you on purpose.

So, feasibly.. I could go and wipe out all the hard work of those that brought them back?
.. with no consequences?
Im half tempted just to see what would happen.
IC reason: hmm I fancy some snake soup
