Want to know what just made me laugh?
If Glomdoring comes about as a tainted, 'evil' commune, Serenwilders will be pulling in their heart-of-hearts for a leader who respects RP, who has a beef with Magnagora, who wouldn't ever act as a crony of someone else, who had too much personal pride for an alliance to ever be taken for granted.
That's right...they're going to wish Visaeris were around to lead the commune. That was your best hope of a leader who would never be trusted, and who would never trust, the city of Magnagora again. Too bad you ran him off, eh?

I'm not forcing together life with unlife. Glomdoring is a thriving Alive forest with Taint. Some members of Glomdoring are undead, and undead exist there, but non undead animals exist there too. Are the spiders not alive with the sound of Taint?
The blasted lands has the same thing, you have your gravediggers, which are not undead, and your Hairless rams, and jackals all living in Taint.

Wow, that puts me at...um...2. Overall. Sweet.

I can see Glomdoring wanting to exploit Magnagora to the fullest.
"Those dirty Serens banned you from buying their potions? Tsk, tsk! That's too bad indeed. We'll be quite willing to sell to you, of course, our Brothers in the Taint. Does three-thousand gold for a Vitae sound good? Oh, and four-hundred for a health potion. Thank you, come again."

400 gold for a 60 sip potion is better then 400 for a 30 sip.. I'd pay for that.
Of course, I usually have over 50k gold so..

Also, if I ever have the authority to do so i'll make sure no tradebans exist in Glomdoring. Heck, sure we're selling potions to the enemies, but we're still getting their gold. What I would encourage is a price increase toward our enemies, perhaps a drastic one. Keep the trade open and the gold flowing...

This is why you'll never be a political leader, Guido. You're far too smart
Elryn2005-02-09 00:50:52
Well, while that makes some ooc sense... I'm not sure I'd be selling my enemies the stuff they need to kill me.

I'd call it a 'Damage Tax'. You're hurting the commune, so you get to pay to fix up the damage with every purchase.

America sells its public technologies to everybody, including people who later sell it to our Enemies.

They can win anyway. Serenwilde can't. (And probably Glomdoring can't, since it will start out full of like 10 people, none of whom can use their skills in the slightest.)

Indeed, that's one of my biggest concern. There will be a handful of us, none with any idea what our skills do or even are. As of now I don't know of a single good fighter (As in, on par with any of the current champions*) interested in the Glomdoring.
So basically it will be a slew of confused novices, people scrambling for power, ect. One person will be able to saunter in and wipe out half the population. Just like the first days of the Beta, except ours will be the only side that is clueless.
Another thing: the scramble for power. I predict a good ten or fifteen people running for the position of city leader, most of whom who expressed either no or little interest in Glomdoring until that point, and a deluge of posts all crying out, "Vote 4 me! I am teh best candidate! P.S. Erion and Guido don't know how 2 fite! Dey sux. P.S.S. Richter smellz.".
Now you all know what i'm thinking about as I while away my novicehood at the Megalith... hah!
EDIT: *Actually, there is one person who I think would join, and has been active in the Glomdoring in the past, who really IS a guild champion. I won't name any names.
Shiri2005-02-09 01:23:35
It is going to be like that. And it will be very depressing.
Daganev2005-02-09 02:46:16
New cities and communes rarely end up like that. There is normally one person who is at the head and has gathered a support group who is followed for the first 30 years of its existance without question.
Shiri2005-02-09 02:48:16
Like Serenwilde, you mean? *G*
Daganev2005-02-09 02:49:59
Serenwilde was not a new city dropped in the middle of the game.
I mean like that new City in Aetolia, the new village in Imperian, the 2 New cities in Achaea an the new Village there also.

Well, we'll see. No one in the early Serenwilde, or ever in there that I know of, had ever really stepped forward to assume control in a strong way. They just made their little posts and sat back to await the results. I would take a far more assertive and militaristic approach, seizing support and subverting any opponents.
Say, can illusionists write messages in forest rooms? If so, i'll hire a few Geomancers to spread propaganda all through Glomdoring when the time comes

Sernewilde's political climate leaned towards the post and wait... if you spoke to loud you were declared a tyrant...
It was won more or less with backdoor politics, its why Bau didn't win, she would of been better for the Early commune then Nikua, although the best leaders didn't run, which was a shame.

QUOTE(Desdemona @ Feb 9 2005, 09:13 AM)
In Achaea, I'm pretty sure you had three guilds capable of making refills. For conviniency, most of the guild members from those guilds assembled in a village (of course, not everyone was forced to join) or were members of Oakstone, or were completely stuck to their guild. Also, to be even able of refilling meant you could spend a whole bunch of time trying to doing interviews and control checks until someone decided to give you class. In any instance, even if you were rogue and refiller, you have people from organizations like Oakstone that could enemy you the forest and wipe your chances of acquiring your own herbs. That is another huge difference between forests here and there... complain of an overpowerful Serenwilde the day that forest defences become active.

The divine had severe restrictions on wha yah hadda do to get forest enemied, infact , refilling for enemies wouldnt even get yah enemied anymore, generally it seems to be the only true way to get forest enemied now adays (achaea at least) is exterm , or inferno. Nomore pullin out the "oh yah well then we'll enemy you to 90% of the game rooms!!"
Though im slightly releived the herbs and potions were split up , least now theres no , "omg omg omg, now youse can never cure cause you made us unhappy!1!!1!"

All topics discussing anything but the Serenwilde will eventually turn toward whining about Serenwilde.
