It was Celest's choice, yes. It's also easy to have predicted that that would happen before any of the cities were populated, just as it's easy to have predicted that the members of the paladin guild would in general value honor. While some may disagree with the stance, I doubt that most people were surprised by it.
It was too much to ask for than the same lazy RP of all the other MUDs.
I could play a Lucidian that's almost impossible to tell from Spock, but I thought I'd have fun. Erion and Vesar have been two of the most interesting Celestians to date - BECAUSE they aren't cookie-cutter followers of the Light.

I want to bring up one of the earlier debates as I've only just now read the whole thread.
While it may be true that the introduction of Glomdoring will polarize the world into Celest and Seren vs. Mag and Glomdoring, that would still in no way force Seren to become this "Forest of Light" that I keep hearing about. An argument could be formulated to say that such an alliance would turn Celest into a "City of Trees" or some such nonsense.
Is there only one force that can oppose the taint? Is the Light that force? Or would your own forest spirits be sufficient to retain your rp?

mag depression...
You guys keep saying glomdoring will force serenwilde into teaming with celest... right. Everytime i fight now-a-days from way back to the fae wars its been celest+serenwilde vs magnagora. Even your jumpers run around attached to each others hip. You know you guys did that way before the fae wars even which is why Chade tried to keep friendly relations between the cities to avoid fighting such odds. No one wanted to but apparently we got forced into it. Thats one thing thats irritating... the odds sucked, but we tried... won some lost some.
Skills were pretty much even... the main thing that made mag different was that there were a lot of fighters who recognized the skillsets. So they didnt have to think of moves or combos or how to use this and that. We used to always think, hmmm, i hope they dont figure out how to use that pooka, or i hope they dont learn how to use inquesition in groups, or i hope they dont figure out how to stack up their blocks, etc etc. Theres still a lot of things you guys dont do but it is inevitable that you will figure it out. Problem is, with you guys not knowing your own skills made it look like your skills were sub-par. So what happens we get downgrades then you guys get more upgrades then you guys learn how to use them and we find ourselves having trouble keeping pace.
Economics fighting a potionban sucks. Sure we can get around it but then if you think about it if said person is caught they get kicked out of serenwilde and they loose their whole tradeskill which makes a lot of people not willing to go to such extents. Of course we still have friends and friends willing to go that extra leg and us because we're really in need ask anyway despite the consequences. Its not a good situation though and its dragging at best. Only thing that was keeping us together was us going hey at least we have the villages to supply us with other needs. But with constant teaming thats not going to last either. Now though were thinking not like it mattered anyway even though we had most of the villages the rest of you guys increased in power at almost the same rate anyway. The comms were helping us but its not that big a difference either.
Those two alone were dragging but as though it wasnt enough there are other things as well. Like news posts... you have a city trying their best in a war with odds stacked against them going day shifts with no sleep and in the end what happens oh we get our demon lords screwing us. Not only that in the end we get posted on the events as arrogant magnagorans with a tell of events which were hardly true from our perspective.
Theres also all those punishments, time and time again we get scolded shrubbed peaced maggoted and what not. Then we nod and agree say we wont do it again then next thing we know those other people are doing the same thing against us and we complain and they get a slap on the wrist. As said by liseara, i think it was, pkers and are subjected to a higher standard... nice :\\
I think ill stop this soon since this post seems to be like one big moan, which it is. There are things we can do about it too true, we just need to try a little harder... but this is my main point. Mag has always tried and tried really hard. Seriously even way back in beta all the mags did quests, hit villages, bashed like there was no tomorrow. The villages we tried our best for those... they changed so many things with influencing but hell we even had daevos and ari influencing for straight 24+ hours. The war came... The crow quest was extremely hard compared to the white hart quest. Situation is we had to defend 4 main mobs without any city defenses 24/7. We had to time all parts because the repop times on the items werent exactly friendly some going from 15mins to 1 hour. If we wanted a big amount of deer we needed to go all the way into enemy territory as if doing all this in a forest wasnt enough. Each part of the quest takes at least 2 repops to do which means yes 2 hours at least for each part. Hell if you kill Gib it takes 2 pops of grasses 2 pops of loamadores 4 pops of beasts and a tree which is basically what 5 hours? You have quest after quest after quest which all take 2 or more hours to do which has to be timed inaccordance to a 15 min period once every 32 hours. We still tried anyway and tried bloody hard. Anyway... Mag, to reach what it had reached gave in a tremendous amount of effort and this is the reason why we've had so many people leave... because for all this effort what did we get in return (look above). You know reason Valek turned on us was because he finally got tired and wouldnt take this crap anymore, we all pretty much felt the same way but didnt agree with his methods.
I said it somewhere on these forums a couple of months back when they changed contagion... such things are demoralizing. Given the amount of effort we put in, knowing our opponents will band together, knowing theyll eventually learn their skills and seeing how much leverage they do have over us getting hit with things said above will eventually just kill our drive...

Damn it, I want to be able to instantly teleport to a geomancers demense... thats just crappy.
I can't see how any other group could ever get an advantage over serenwilde while influencing unless they teamed up.
Where are my ur'gates!?
