...that's a point.

Bob vials don't really cut it, and the amount of work it would take me to massively traffic in vials, combined with the increased cost due to the increased risk my supplier takes in doing that many more at a time, makes it unfeasible.

EDIT: "So, what are you doing?" "Oh, I'm just making 120 health, 40 phlegmatic, 40 choleric, 40 frost... etc. etc. for this celest newbie. You?" We probably couldn't afford to pay someone to do that, the cost tends to go up the more you order at a time when they're trying to hide making them.

I've had guildmembers not able to get refills -at all- for a long time. Sure, the keg idea would be a great solution to the problem.. if we had Serenwilders who would fill them for us.

You see that is the great part about the Kegs, especially if a portable one can be had. All it takes is one and only one person greedy enough to side step a ban and the problem is solved. Even if it were non-portable all you have to do is get one person in the shop to fill vials. Any jeweler can make a vial. The plotting required would be great game wise.

But cost is something that I thought people were willing to shoulder, as long as the possibility was there. Now you're saying that it's the cost that is unfair?
Drago2005-02-10 01:14:00
Actually, any artist can make a vial.. as long as they have 6 gemstones (ie, things like diamonds and rubies).

All it takes is one mob and the complaints abotu alchemy get thrown out the window. Especially if the mob sells them high enough.
Unknown2005-02-10 01:19:13
It's not just the cost but the time and work as well. Getting enough potions illegally to supply all the newbies in Magnagora could easily run 1k a health vial up from the 300 or so it is now.

Do newbies need the four additional vials bob doesn't sell?
45929

Elryn, Bob sells mana, healing, bromides, regeneration, mending, fire and frost.

Which leaves alchemy with melancholic, sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic, allheale, antidote, love, liniment and quicksilver. Nine unreachable elixirs, often curing lethal afflictions like crotamine and sunallergy.

Yes, newbies need the "four" additional vials Bob doesn't sell, just like every single other person in the realm needs them.
Unknown2005-02-10 01:22:18
Why the heck would NEWBIES (people who should NOT be involved in combat) need anything other than those seven?
Elryn2005-02-10 01:23:11
I thought there were only four elixirs that bob doesn't sell that weren't replaceable by herbs, though?
Drago2005-02-10 01:25:23
Lindwyrms on Earth afflict with crotamine. Other then that one attack its quite possible for a newbie to kill them with strategic shielding. If a newbie doesn't have antidote and shields a moment to late.. bye bye newbie.
Thorgal2005-02-10 01:25:43
Elryn, how bloody often do I have to post the list of afflictions uncurable without access to an alchemist's elixirs other than Bob?

...disloyalty, crotamine, sunallergy, pox, scabies, itching, asthma, punctured lungs, scalped, slit throat, vomiting inners, vomiting blood, dysentry, worms, love potion and hypersomnia...

None are cured with hod or its lowmagic equivalent, none are cured with focus mind, none are cured with herbs. It is impossible for either newbie or veteran to survive without the alchemy Bob does not provide.
Unknown2005-02-10 01:27:22
I don't think there's herbal replacements for liniment, love, and about half the things melancholic, choleric and sanguine cure.

And Elryn, why do you follow me around the forums always agreeing with what I suggest while trying to poke holes in my arguments at the same time? Why don't you go do something productive, like buying a new pack of paint chips, you seem to have run out.
Shiri2005-02-10 01:27:35
I don't think level 21s and under can take on lindwyrms in any case? Elryn's right. As they shouldn't be participating in combat, they don't NEED the potions.

Thorgal's list basically means they can't fight lindwyrms and anemones. That's it, really.

And Jello - why must you continually insult Elryn? Do you know him? Paint chips? Just because he agrees with some points of your posts but points out the flaws in other parts, do you really have to be so childish as to insult him? I mean, come on. I'm sure you can be better than that.
Elryn2005-02-10 01:28:20
Thorgal, maybe just post the elixirs that are needed?
Drago2005-02-10 01:29:40
Well, because a child shouldn't be running around on a road, I don't NEED to be careful if I'm driving.
Unknown2005-02-10 01:29:42
So are you saying Magnagora should stop requiring that their newbies get a full set of equipment? I guess that makes sense, since they aren't meant to be on even footing with everyone else anyway.
Thorgal2005-02-10 01:30:07
BLOODY ALL OF THEM ELRYN!

If you don't know ANYTHING about curing, why do you persist on posting your opinion?
Shiri2005-02-10 01:31:14
They're not needed.
Drago2005-02-10 01:32:51
They might not be needed as a newbie/novice.. but what about once they've finished that?

They're going to need them then aren't they?
Thorgal2005-02-10 01:32:52
Brains apparently aren't needed either.
