OK...I like Lusternia.

I love forums.

I read forums and play Lusternia, and I end up spending more time thinking about the things I dislike about Lusternia then things I DO like. It isn't like this just in my free time either...Every time I think about coming to Lusternia, I stop by the forums first and I'm ENTIRELY dissuaded from logging in. I don't want to deal with raiders that can't be killed or economics that are near-permanently skewed nor increasing pressure to not PK on the prime despite the fact that EVERYTHING important is there...

Maybe its just that I'm on the 'losing*' side of all these arguments, but it feels like the normally receptive and responsive atmosphere of a cooperative game, and especially the administration of the game, is gone.

If it were just me that felt things were way crazy right now, that'd be one thing, but I don't seem to be alone...and everyone who defends Spores and Alchemy and etc just happen to be on the same side, the side that now dominates the game in terms of active and new players.

I'm honestly to the point where I don't even want to check the forums anymore, let alone play. I don't think I'm alone here, either. I wonder, when people who are long time IRE customers, MUD addicts, and forum whores are considering walking away, when will someone wonder if there really are a few key problems that go beyond whining about skills.

When will they catagorically avoid talking about important issues, saying 'don't even say it,' laughing if we do, and posting psychobabble to defend a point even when its clear to many people that the majority of pk-related conflict on the prime is because that is the only plane with any important stuff on it?

Whatever, I'm tired of hearing it. I'm tired of spending my time and thought on how the game could be made better. Obviously, Professor Whatshisname's generic comment on games and PK is far more valid then my dubiously educated but instance specific evaluation.

Someone email me when things change.

*by 'losing' I mean 'correct by my best intelligent estimation but either ignored or denied by many, often for illogical or non-existant reasons.'

Unfortunatly I don't think the Forums are all that accurate of the majority of Lusternia.

To be honest, I play quite a bit and almost everything peole talk about on the forums I don't actually encounter in game.

I have all the vials and herbs I need, I make good money, I pk only when I want to, and work on mostly internal affairs of my guild and city.

I would agree of your assesment of the forums but I kind of see the forums as a place to discuss issues of the Mud that will take affect maybe 10 IC years from now and the game as a place to develop my own charachter.

Oh and by the way THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to roark for the Arm balance thing. It has allowed me to fix so many of my attack problems allready.

I think it all has to do with perception. In all objectivity I dont think the alchemy situation is unfair. I have heard everyones arguments, and I still just dont see it as being unfair. Maybe you dont see a whole lot of the PK problem cause it doesnt happen to you, but I have been killed while collecting pilgrims by people I have never heard of and webbed while hunting on numerous occasions. So I could see how it is a problem.

People can be presented with the same information, yet end up with completely different conclusions due to perception.
