Well aside from reminding that scabbards are very important to a lot of us, here's another idea..
Knights seriously need a way to transverse or jump to other planes from our own nexus. Im betting that the mages and guardians are really annoyed and tired of giving knights a ride up to elemental or cosmic planes. Why should knights have to buy a cubix or prism just so we can get to elemental or cosmic planes without going through ethereal?
One may say that "just make a rift and then you can go through ethereal to the other planes." True, but they can and would be destroyed on sight, or distorted if nothing else.
For the lazy reader:
-Give knights a way to get to other planes from our own nexus

Invest in planar.

To 50% Mythical? You must be joking.
The situation does suck. No non-rogue should be forced to follow others or invest 250cr in a non-guild skill to be able to bash and link loose nodes.

I have to agree, unless you have Nexus in Planar or is a Serenguard, but even then we can't get past the Elemental planes. It's a pain to get to the higher planes, but the system was designed with knights to not be able to transverse the planes easier I think.
Shiri2005-02-09 22:37:31
Or you can go to Glomdoring. Or the room above the pool of stars. For Magnagorans and Celestians respectively.
But yeah, Seren can't get past the elements either.

ab planar cosmicgate
Syntax: TRANSVERSE COSMIC
You can use planar gates to travel to the cosmic planes.
It will allow you to go to Nil and Celestia, I don't see how knights can't use it.

Take the Ravenwood to Ethereal, there are Water and Earth gates there. The problem with that is that anyone enemied to Serenwilde will find themselves neck-deep in Moondancers if they stay there for more than 10 seconds.
As for rifts, why not just have a rift leading from the Megalith room on the prime to the ones on Earth and Nil, and the same thing for Celest? The rifts would be protected by the guards the same as the nexus would be.

Shiro,
Firstly, since you can only transverse to adjacent planes as a knight. A knight would have to get onto Ethereal first, but due to security reasons or whatever, there are only one or two rifts the lead from prime to ethereal, which contains the two rifts to the two elemental planes but since people don't like leaving Nil and Celestia so accessible to raiders, there are no rifts directly from the elemental planes to the Cosmic planes. Since we cannot get to the Cosmic planes, that would mean we cannot get to Astral. That is the reason behind Ixion's original complaint.
Guido,
As stated above, because Celest and Mag don't like their Cosmic planes being so easily accessible to raiders, even though it happens regularly anyway.

I understand that, I'm still confused on why you can't travel to celestia plane from the pool of stars, when you have it in planar.
Daganev2005-02-09 22:52:07
Wow you people are silly.
I'm trans planar.
A knight can not go to any other plane from prime other than Ethereal. The Nexus does not have a gate to any plane save elemental and Cosmic, and you need special skills in both Cosmic and Elemental to make that leap.
The only thing I can think of that would work is a section of Ethereal that is not connected to the rest of it that allows a neutral area for planar gates. However, those will always be distorted anyways.
I think trans planar should give you the ability to use a city nexus to go directly to any other nexus of the same name. HOwever, that breaks almost all rules of planar travel.

...because only Guardians can do that!
Shiri2005-02-09 22:52:41
Because people don't have the "gate" power just before master elementalism/cosmic that allows you to "skip" planes like that. You can only use it as a gate - that is to say, to adjacent planes. Same reason as you can't directly transverse to Water, because you don't have Gate in elementalism. (Anyone ELSE think our gate thing, that leads to an adjacent plane anyway, is worthless, anyone? )

Apart from the fact that mages and guardians already do it.
...yeees.
Terenas2005-02-09 22:53:53
The only reason I think Gate in Nature is useful is if you didn't have any lessons in Planar at all. But yeah, it's pretty useless.
Daganev2005-02-09 22:54:53
Yeah, it was a good idea but its only usefull for one group of people who have easy access to that plane anyways, since they are the ones who control what rifts exist.
Unknown2005-02-09 22:57:32
This makes no sense to me, How can you have cosmicgate in planar, and you can't use it as a knight; however, you can use it as a guardian.
Shiri2005-02-09 22:58:09
I don't know how to solve this, though, really. If we make Nexus in planar work to transport you to any level, then people who don't have it lose out considerably. If we don't, knights are kinda messed up. I like Guido's idea though, or would that not work? EDIT: Wait, it does work, they already did it in Celest. (I should know, I made the other end, hah.)
EDITEDIT: Shiro, it's because you can't skip layers. It goes Prime-Ether-Elements-Cosms-Astral. So you can use the gate power to skip to the Cosms, knights, who don't have cosmic, can't. They only know rituals, remember, not cosmic.

I'm trying really hard not to insult you, Shiro.
Cosmic gate mean you can use rifts, that does not in any form say that you can use a nexus to go directly to those planes, only if you are a Guardian or Magi. But in Serenwilde's case, since Ethereal is the first plane outside of Prime, then anyone can use it. Any clearer?
Daganev2005-02-09 23:02:27
A rift can only go to adjacent planes, it would not work.
Yes, anybody who does not have the skills will lose out compared to those who do have the skills. Thats always true nomatter what you are talking about. However, I have a trans skillset that I can not use when I want to, I have to make sure there is someone who is not busy to be my chaparon.
However, allowing anyone with trans planar to move to any plane with thier nexus will make rifts even more useless.
Basically Knights just have to accept the fact that they are not as spiritual or mentally suited to travel planes without assistance.

I was going to point that out too, but I figured I'd get crucified. The last bit that is.
