We also had upwards of 30 posts because of me. That's not exactly a good indicator. tongue.gif
Daganev2005-02-11 22:34:15
Shiri, I don't think anyone has ever talked about you ICly. tongue.gif except for an odd refrence here or there.

The 12 pages of Furloch was mostly focused on the fact that people didn't know who he was, some thought he was me, and we had a great RP thing happen...

I remember getting IMs for three days saying "why did you betray your city!?"

That was clasic, unfortunatly it all happened so fast, nobody really remembers it, and its affect didn't last more than a weak.
Shiri2005-02-11 22:37:40
Yeah, exactly, no one's talked about my character here, but there are 30 pages upwards on a topic centred about me posting too much (harhar) so number isn't exactly a good indication. Plus most of that Furloch topic was people getting PO'ed because he "wasn't showing signs" or whatever. biggrin.gif But yeahhh...thing is, I reckon no one sees that as a really good RP session thing because no one really saw it coming?

It's really too bad that the Idiots section counts towards your post count... sad.gif

I'd like to add Daganev to my list, but uhm... haven't seen him since my character was 16. He was fun though.. mmm.. bear.

Best Roleplayers?

In no particular order...

Richter
Erion
Jack
Visaeris
Myself
Daganev

A few others, but most of my interaction is with Magnagorans other tainted types, so I remember them most clearly.

I would have to say that some of the best roleplay was done by the following, which is not in any particular order:

Guido- Even though Jasper dislikes him, from what I have heard he and the way he acts IC he does do rather good.

Richter- Incorporated his histories and creating mini-events, puts him on the list.

Merloch- Holding the icey composure of High Priest and having multiple situations which increase the spiritual side of the Moondancers.

Gwylifar- He also keeps a good stance within the game, making Jasper think good things about the Serenguard.

Erion- Like Guido, Jasper hates him, but he does play a good wrathful-like being who always seems to create some conflict.

And that is all I really can think about.

My favorite roleplayers:

-Elaria. I've done some fun roleplaying with her.
-Karrah. He's got an awesome character.
-Visaeris, while he was still around.
-Daganev. Excellent 'big dumb tae'dae' bit.
-Guido. Haven't actually seen him much, but I like what I've discovered about his character.

My least favorite roleplayers:

-Munsia.
-Annabelle.
-Munsia.
-Shiro.
-Did I say Munsia?
Daganev2005-02-12 00:27:06
Yeah, my online time has degenerated over time.
Hopefully my senior projects will allow me to log on during times when people are around so I can get stuff done.
Gwylifar2005-02-12 00:33:45
I think it's hard for anyone to really get a sense for who the best roleplayers are because most of us haven't seen more than a third, or less, of the others, getting a chance to shine. I know there are good roleplayers in Magnagora, for instance, mostly because of what I hear here. IC I've had only a few small chances to be exposed to that, and the same is true the other way around.

People I have encountered that deserve some notice include:
- Merloch: has a knack for gently nudging people into staying IC
- Exarius: doing a lot for aslaran culture
- Brylle: I love her playful way of dissolving tension, and how she can be cheerful even while she's calling people pus-bags
- Malicia: her roleplay is understated and easy to miss, but it's consistent and fits her place in the guild (Gwylifar positively idolizes her... shh, don't tell her)
- Alyssandra: busting her butt to help form the guild's culture and taking it in very interesting directions
- Quentin: still new to the realm but showing great promise
- Cronnacht: another person who patiently plays out a character even when no one is watching or likely to notice

I hate making lists like this because I know that a lot of people I know are doing just as much, only not where I can see it well enough to be able to tell, and I don't want them to feel slighted.

I like the purebred Loboshi rp me and Amaru had going on.
Bricriu2005-02-12 06:35:01
I found the Etanru-kidnapping scene we all did quite enjoyable. :3
Hazar2005-02-12 06:40:45
Kudos to anyone who holds a government position in Magnagora. They (well, except the now-departed Valek) are all great at their roleplay.

The best experience I had, roleplaying on Lusternia, was with two paladins, training my alt, a viscanti. Unfortunately, I can't remember either of their names. Both from Delport, one a Merian, one a Taurian. Great stuff.

And anyone in the DoC. Whine all you like, Serenwilde, we were an elite group of amazing roleplayers. fisticuff.gif
Yrael2005-02-12 06:51:24
Etanru, Merloch, Gregori, Daganev and Lyren.

Etanru and Lyren because of the kidnapping. Merloch and Gregori, from what I've observed from afar and when I'm pottering around on an alt. Daganev - Look, do I really need to say anything?

And Akraasiel: I'm not that bad. Admittedly, I put no effort into it, and probably could, but I'm not THAT bad. And on the same list as Annabelle? Actually, noone deserves to be on the same list as Annabelle.
Akraasiel2005-02-12 07:07:04
Okay, youre not that bad, but I would like to see a bit more reasoning to your theft, make it entertaining if youre going to steal.
Yrael2005-02-12 07:17:22
I give *most* of what I steal back. I would have given Lyth all of his things back when he and Gwynevere asked, except most of it was already mixed with my things, so I couldnt, meh. I'm always polite about it, anyway. I'm going to take Typhus' suggestion, however, and start making interesting calling cards.
Akraasiel2005-02-12 07:24:57
I think Ak is one of the few well RP'd Madmen Ive ever seen, slipping smoothly between lucidity and absolute, though a bit intellectual, madness. Not insane, mad, there is a great distinction.
Gregori2005-02-12 10:52:03
I would have to say Merloch. Gregori and Merloch are always at polar ends of how to deal with things and arguing on who is right and who is wrong. Except the few times they actually agree on something.

Best roleplay experiences not mortal, would be Lisaera when She interviewed Gregori for Her order. I was not expecting that to happen, I had simply enquired to learn more about Her and got interviewed and had to suddenly search myself for how would Gregori answer these questions.

Then Raezon, for the limited interaction we had, all through tells during the war after Gregori enemied Him. (and yes I fully expected to see about 10 zaps coming through that whole conversation). Was very good RP though and I was glad to be in it.

Edit:: Add Rhysus to that list. It is always good RP to see the guy you call your enemy grow frusterated cause you are just calling a spade a spade and being your usual blunt, non diplomatic self with him. He handled it well though and for that I would say he was one of my best rp experiences.
Revan2005-02-12 11:13:04
I'm a bad roleplayer? I'm rather insulted! And if you mean Ravin, then quit confusing us both! Bleh... It's not really that I don't roleplay, it's that I don't go above and beyond the call of duty. There's nothing wrong with being a passive roleplayer! However, I'm willing to cook something up *snicker*
Gwylifar2005-02-12 18:27:52
I'd agree that Akraasiel is doing the best job of roleplaying insanity in Lusternia. But that's kind of like saying one particular dungheap is the best of all of them. Insanity is hard to play anywhere, and what I've seen in Lusternia has been almost uniformly amongst the worst of a bad lot -- most of it has no pattern to it, no history, no consistency, and is really little more than a thin veneer over "I can do and say anything I feel like and you can't ask me why because, duh, I'm craaaaaaaaaazy!"

Akraasiel at least has some reason for it, and while he uses it to justify saying things he couldn't otherwise get away with saying and then dodging the consequences for saying it sometimes, at least I don't always get the sense that that's the only reason that's why he's insane. But his insanity is way too conveniently "crazy like a fox"; he's far too lucid and self-controlled for his insanity to be really very far from being just eccentricity gussied up for a night out on the town. Seems like he's going for the "is he crazy or is he just a genius that you don't understand?" thing a little too hard. Even genuine genius/lunatics, historically, are not in very good self-control and often do things to their own disadvantage, both on a long-term scale (making poor life decisions -- which no one can say Akraasiel has avoided!) and a short-term scale (day-to-day things).

Now, I hope that the truth is, all this self-aggrandizing, misbehavior-justifying insanity I see out there really has something behind it where I can't see, and it's just a huge coincidence that it always turns out to look like convenience-insanity. But otherwise... just find something else, really.

I'm with Gwylifar in that I hate making lists about things like this - I always end up forgetting so much I meant to mention. Still, some basic thoughts:

o The kidnapping experience seems to be well-populized; I had actually quite a bit of fun with that one, for all that it went a bit farther than I expected it to.

o My faeling-to-merian conversion was quite fun, only Etanru knows the whole plot ICly, though obviously I was involved in an IRL sense. I was really pleased, though, how much other people seemed to want to help out, even if only briefly ("Has your skin always been so blue?") and so forth.

o It's the little things, I think, that really do it for me. The big events are perfectly lovely when done right, but smaller-scale interactions really pep up an otherwise unexciting day. One time Lyren started hearing strange voices in the back of her head, ended up going to Celestia to figure things out, and had some really sweet conversations with the Supernals - nothing planned, and I didn't expect it to go anywhere, but it was really neat nonetheless (thanks to whoever did that, by the way). Even small scenarios with other players, like the conversations Lyren has with a surprising number of people about Light and love, can do wonders to restore my faith in the general population's roleplaying capability.

o Most of the people here are more than capable of roleplaying perfectly well, it's the attitude behind it that needs changing (Even if it's only you, keep in practice! Speak with mobiles, use lots of custom emotes, never do anything your character wouldn't do..and so forth). If more people were willing to roleplay constantly, larger-scale effects would emerge.
