This would be the clan help file.
The Letztes Bataillon (Last Battalion) was originally a division of the Hallifax knighthood, composed solely of trill and lucidian veterans. When Hallifax used the outbreak of the taint wars to launch a surprise attack on Gaudiguch's nexus of power, the majority of the cities' forces were sent there or stationed within the city. The Letztes Bataillon was ordered to the mountains immediately outside of Hallifax to deal with any physical threats from the taint that might attempt to approach the city.
When Gaudiguch's counter attack froze both their city and Hallifax in time, the Bataillon suddenly found itself alone in a hostile and possibly dying world, without the supplies in the mountains to sustain all of them.
They first traveled west, towards the Serenwilde while avoiding the taint as much as they could. The Serenwilders however viewed them as a hostile expedition and attacked them, destroying their hopes for sanctuary. From there the Bataillon went back east, settling down temporarily in the village of Estelbar and protecting the furrikins from the mad orcs of Acknor and other villages in return for food and supplies. It is possible that Estelbar would have been destroyed if not for the intervention of the trills and lucidians, but the relationship was not to last for once it became apparent that it was safe to leave their forest, Serenwilde's forces occupied Estelbar and forced the Letztes Bataillon to leave.
Unable to take control of any of the orc settlements and unwilling to seek help from the subterranean dwarves, the Bataillon was left with no choice but to journey south into the tainted lands and the chaos that was early Magnagora. By this time the unit, which had once numbered an even 1,000 soldiers, recorded their numbers as 466. It was in the tainted lands and their attempt to assimilate into Magnagora that the Letztes Bataillon finally dissolved after nearly a year. Their final leader, Lieutenant Relsin Blossomfeather, recorded the history and experiences of the Bataillon in a book that was kept by the Feyranti house of viscanti that interbred with some of the trill.
It was nearly a hundred years after this that Jelaludin Feyranti, a trill adopted into the family, came across the book and was enchanted by it and the stories of Hallifax. He vowed to create a new Letztes Bataillon that would free Hallifax, never forgetting the debt owed to the Magnagorans or the bigotry of Serenwilde.

OOHH i love it. Die serenwilde -stabbing motions in your general direction-

But how fast did Magnagora grow? I was thinking more along the lines of it taking 400-450 years to come to a state that looked like today's city. Some people try to make it as if there was an insta-Magnagora after the taint. *eye*

That's a good point. Well I thought that Estarra came right at the end of the taint wars, which would mean it took about 50 years to reach its current state. Which does seem a little short. In any case before I actually make said clan I'll figure such things out.

I like the concept, but I think a different name? We already have stupid French (not the language itself stupid, just using it in a fantasy RP game stupid) and now German? I hope nobody murders my mother tongue and put a quasi imitation into the game.
Nementh2005-02-12 15:55:05
Like French was murdered... like my poor poor latin...
As long as no one tries to use Greek, Hebrew (Nevermind, to late for that one.), or Arabic I am fine...
I see no problem with murdering German though

Hebrew was already killed. The names of every spell in highmagic is Hebrew.

Etanru, you need to read parenthesis...
Hazar2005-02-12 16:17:42
EXCELLENT!
I like it.
EDIT: But please don't put the name in German. How about the 'Matrix Legion Reserve'?

Nementh2005-02-12 16:21:28
'Primarium Legio Matrix' would be better if it was the veterns and you wanted to use a Legion title
Hazar2005-02-12 16:31:45
Still like 'Matrix Legion Reserve'. It's got class.
Nementh2005-02-12 16:36:40
Reserve makes it sound less then a vetren group though
Hazar2005-02-12 16:41:11
Hmm...how about 'Matrix Vanguard'?
Nementh2005-02-12 16:44:34
I like Primarium Legio Matrix.. or it could always be 'XXIIII Hallifxa Matrix Primarium Legio.' (Number was randomly picked.) Or Short, XXIIII H.M.P

Maybe out what I'll post is slightly out of topic... but I always had considered that Hallifaxers would probably be all snobby considering themselves superior to the other races and civilizations.
Maybe your clan thingie could have a secret project of breeding with other races trying to make a more perfect and intelligent race amidst the scourge of the Taint, as a way to advance the performance of the individuals with the hope of gradually increasing and outperforming the other more brutish and savage races. Always waiting for Hallifax to return, and return to it with all gathered data of experiences with them.
Other than that small suggestion, your clan idea is very nice.

Well, I chose german and want to have a somewhat nazi-esq. theme going. My vision of Hallifax is some ruthless bastards who are unusually good at justifying themselves. For instance, they called Gaudiguch a "cesspool of illogical extremism" which sounds quite harsh but isn't necessarily a good reason to attack them like they did, and they made the cloud to stop the taint that resulted in others dying. So, while I don't mean it as an insult to germans out there, the Letztes Baitallon was supposedly a nazi division that fled to Argentina and set up there, hence the name in german.
At the same time, much like how Argentina and Brazil aren't run (officially...) by Nazis, the Hallifax Letztes Baitallon was too busy trying to survive to make much headway with any kind of breeding project, even if though they considered the trill and lucidians to be the superior races.
