Luckie, a female leprechaun deals you a three of Clubs and a three of Clubs.

You play with two decks.

The blackjack tables in Lusternia used the equivalent of unlimited decks. It defeats any attempt at counting cards and raises the house odds.
Singollo2005-02-12 19:16:24
Now if they had poker you'd be in pretty good shape with that.
Roark2005-02-12 20:12:38
I believe many casinos will shuffle together several decks to make card counting harder.
Unknown2005-02-12 22:19:59
Poker in Lusternia would be nice.

I can just imagine the coding on that.
Daganev2005-02-13 13:37:18
Texas holdem!
er I mean... Ankgrag Holdem!

If yahoo can code it, so can lusternia!

Card counting with one deck is -easy-.

::winks::
Rhysus2005-02-13 13:47:02
Card counting with infinite decks...not so much.
eirene2005-02-13 17:46:18
meh. Not so happy with the unlimited decks idea. I think that gambling should be a little bit easier to win at in lusternia. Anyone that knows blackjack realizes that the house advantage in Lusternia is way higher than in real life casinos.

Gambling is rigged. Its just a way to drain gold and credits off of the rich forcing them to buy more ooc credits. Nobody wins over time, bigger wins produce people who bet larger and larger and eventually they lose everything.

If you are rich in gold or credits its great fun and harmless but if are seriously gambling for gold or credits you might as well just give your credits away to your guild, at least it will do somebody some good. Ive seen too many new players throw away all their lessons on gambling and fade away to like blackjack and roulette much.

Forget poker......put in Whack A' Mole.....only instead of moles it would be Whack A' Celstian or Whack A' Mhaldorian...or... Whack A' Divine*duck*

In Orone they coded in decks of cards and dice so that players could gamble with eachother. Played lots of fun games of poker there. And even made some great illusions to cheat with the dice and palm gold from the pot. It was lots of fun!

Actually if you have enough gold to start with its possible to "never" lose at roulette. Depending on how much money you have you could reduce your odds in ever losing to about 1/16000.

Which are pretty nice odds by anyone's standards. Ive only ever made a profit on roulette.

Unknown2005-02-14 14:32:09
I have had it happen more than once in real casinos, on average most serious casinos use 8-10 decks in the shoe for Blackjack. 10 Deck card counting is close to impossible without some mechanical help.
Unknown2005-02-14 16:53:35
I wouldn't say it's rigged, if you have enough money you can win at blackjack in Lusternia. Usually my character will bet 100 gold. If he wins the bet stays the same, if he loses he doubles the bet so 100 lose, bet 200, lose 200, bet 400 and so on so that you always gain money. Granted if you don't have the gold it's a pain in the arse but if you have 100k or so to play with and you can bet 1000 at a time, it's not horrible.

That might be true with unlimited bets, but roulette is limited to 50k bet.
Unknown2005-02-14 18:32:20
Note, roulette has at best a 47.39% chance of winning (doubling money) I believe.

The fallacy of the continuing bets is that, each bet has a 47.39% chance of winning, and ignores any previous or future bets. The double or nothing mentality always has a 47.39% chance of losing - now, it is TRUE that double or nothing repeated many times has a high chance of winning at least once (making your investment back), you can not count on that at any given bet.
Veonira2005-02-14 18:35:14
Yeah. I knew some people in my guild on Achaea who won tons of lessons and gold, but then they also lost huge amounts too. The most I've ever won was 20K with 100-500 gold bets.
