I thought the love potion made you fall in love with whoever you looked at? If Guido wasn't actually in the room, that wouldn't work..more of Merloch should be falling in love with Amphitrite. Or maybe he just has a natural resistance to love potion.

There is no such thing as love potion immunity, just faster recovery from the effects depending on the ingested dosage. Also, Merloch should fall temporaly in love with Guido, because I'm sure Guido's love potion is of the "fall in love with the maker" category
