The...first one. Lasting 12.5 online days is STILL too good for what we 'ave now.

So, if you had to choose -
Would you prefer blessings are downgraded 50%, but last the same amount of time....
Or, that they stay the same, but the amount of time you keep them is halved?

The second one... cause I'm greedy like that. Actually though it adds up to about the same really. Sorta like how a cup of regular Clorox Bleach, and half a cup of Clorox Ultra will both do the same amount of whites.
Shiri2005-02-14 23:38:38
Well, it doesn't add up to quite the same. It's like...two arrows won't pierce the same hole as one bullet. (Okay, bad example, but you get the picture. You can't really use metaphors like that when it comes to a combination of power and duration.)
Unknown2005-02-14 23:53:22
Compaired to each other they are. You have a half strength version that lasts a full length or a full strength version that lasts half as long. Seems to me like they're pretty much the same in the end.
Shiri2005-02-15 00:01:22
It really isn't the same. Maybe if it was a matter of health reduced for a period of time, MAYBE. But many of these effects aren't quantitative, id est being randomly attacked by outdoors natural places, so halving the duration wouldn't really make them MUCH more bearable, whereas making only Glomdoring attack you (or something, not that but you get the picture) would.

I had a thought to the effect of people who are not involved in combat very often gaining Karma naturally, like when it was first implemented. Those with empty victims lists and ones who simply don't get involved in fights. This in my eyes helps to stop people attacking those who are pacifists and promoting fighting those who actually want to fight. Just my thoughts
Sylphas2005-02-18 19:50:06
You just made the first proposal for helping protect pacifists that I can actually stand. Positive reinforcement = good, negative reinforcement = bad.

Sorry, didn't read anything but the first post.
But...
I like the idea, except for the total time. It needs to be online. I had a similar idea, looks like the minor/major is a good idea.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Hopefully the new changes regarding enemy territory and such will allow me to actually build up karma...And I definitely think that blessings especially are currently overpowered.

The blessins are good at the moment!
If your Karma wasn't affected by Pking as it is I would think that would be an improvement. That way if you do get cursed you dont have to quest for ages to get rid of a curse as you'd already have the karma.

I have around 70% karma right now with no questing.
Jalain2005-03-01 14:46:29
I think blessings and curses are fine as they are right now.
I think that this is pretty much like the Serenwilde Totem thing.. This is how it was supposed to be from the start.. kind of. It will move a lot of the fighting off of Prime, which is how it was supposed to be from the start.

I have yet to see that happen.
I'm sorry, but if you are fighting to keep Ladantine up, no Celestian is going to walk up to magnagora and say, 'Hey! Lets go pop over to Earth plane to fight, even though that has nothing to do with the fight at hand here in the Sea of Despair!'

Be pretty stupid for the victim to curse someone if the one who pked them can just get rid of it immediately. They might as well spend it on some nice blessing and keep the suspect status. Love the fact that the longer your suspect list, the more karma you lose.
Jalain2005-03-01 15:52:14
What I dislike is that Champions are given Karma. They pretty much would PK the most, but are the ones let off easy in this whole thing. Kinda stupid.
He's the fighter for a guild, so if he gets cursed, let the guild gather corpses for him and let him offer them, or let the guild wander around gathering pilgrims, take them to him, have them fly away, and then he can lead them to the peak for karma. But simply giving them karma by osmosis, simply for being big brutes and pushing their weight around by killing instead of talking.. Really, that's kind of the oposing what karma means.
