Where is Teleport now? I don't remember and I can't get in to look (got a upgrade to Windows XP on my box here at work and now Java doesn't work). I'm at Master in Planar at the moment myself, and I'm just selfish enough to say as long as they don't move it higher than that, I don't care if they moved it. Just don't take it away! pray.gif
Shiri2005-02-16 19:01:37
It's 90 lessons in. Adept. But DON'T MOVE IT. Please! (Or at least make it lower if it does have to be moved. sleep.gif)
Hazar2005-02-16 19:45:51
Don't move teleport. It's an important part of Lusternia. Y'see, Lusternia is -accessible-. In Achaea, I never could do anything, because it would take forever to cross the continent from one end to the other to get things done. In Lusternia, I can wake up in Deepnight, portal to Celest, talk to people about getting things done, go touch a painting to go influence and buy food commodities in Delport, touch the painting, portal, and get back home. That's wonderful. Don't change it.

I'm trans planar, but as a warrior, a lot of the skillset is still pretty worthless. I'm not a big fan of anything that makes me feel worse about the investment.

That being said, I've been advocation summon to work only on mutual allies for a long time now. Perhaps with the Declare system it won't be as needed, but I do think you could cut down on a lot of crazy/stupid PK by making summon work as described. Please please please?
Unknown2005-02-16 20:31:41
On top of that, you can't teleport -everywhere- like it was in other IRE games. You can only teleport to someone being on the same plane as you are, and Lusternian world doesn't end on prime (although it's the biggest plane). If you want to teleport to someone on one plane away, you need mythical skill (tesseract), and there is no skill that lets you teleport to anyone on any plane.
Teleport is cool as it is now.

Richter, you have to be one of the most LAZY people ever if you still don't know Lusternia. The highway is a CIRCLE, and most of the time for the other areas all you need to know is the general direction. Lusternia is -very- user friendly for those of us who actually take the time to explore it.

Don't adjust teleport. Summon was already nerfed if you all remember. The world is very accessible and a neutral teleport skill was the best way to make it so. Plus there are maps for those of you who can't comprehend simple shapes. ninja.gif
Shiri2005-02-16 20:47:23
Eh, KidHendrix, I don't agree with him, but calling him lazy because he's trying to nerf an easy way for everyone to walk around so they all have to do it the hard way doesn't exactly seem very sound to me. tongue.gif
Unknown2005-02-16 20:55:51
The guy has artifacts, Transcendent skills, and a freakin manse community, but doesn't know his way around the Basin and has been playing just as long as the rest of us? He's lazy. ninja.gif

Maybe he just wants it nerfed so he can have a reason to learn the world.

Edit: Not that it'd matter. He's Transcendent Planar. doh.gif
Richter2005-02-16 21:56:22
I have pipes and a pack, kthx.

Not trans planar, thx much.

I was saying everyone else should be -not- lazy, and you call me lazy?

I've walked the circle, many times, especially when looking for pilgrims.

And people still talking about lowering teleport? That makes less sense than anything else. It's as if I said lets either get a kitty, or a tiger, and you tell me to get a toy poodle.

And lastly, about summon:

Back in Aetolia, we had to work for our PK's. Now I can just summon someone, and if they don't pay attention, and are out in the open, they're in front of me. Two seconds later, they're dead. Perhaps the easy summoning is a part of the "omgz 2 much peekay!" issue.
Shiri2005-02-16 22:01:53
It is. So yeah, downgrade summon. But -leave teleport alone.- If, as you say, if it was moved up we'd all have it, well, it's not exactly novices doing the random PKing, is it now? So yeah.

As for lowering the teleport - just because it doesn't match with your argument doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. It's like you're saying either get a wildcat or a lion, and we're saying get a kitty. happy.gif Really, I think everyone should have it. But then it wouldn't make sense with all the abilities underneath it, so eh, it can stay where it is.
Daganev2005-02-16 22:17:26
I think the only valid argument for a change to teleportation is its affects on PK. However, the DECLARE system will most likely fix that. Or As Olan says, just make Summon an ally only thing. Although, that would make me have way more than 20 allies. If they can raise the ally limit to like 200 that would be nice. Enemies can stay at 20. Don't want mages killing everybody in the world just for the heck of it.
Sylphas2005-02-16 23:14:38
I really don't see a problem with summon. You'd almost have to be already in a fight and messed up, or damn near afk to allow yourself to be summoned, unless people have come up with some nifty trick I don't know of.
Richter2005-02-16 23:22:47
It -would- be interesting to see that...

I don't think the enemy and ally list was meant to be the teleportation and summon list. Perhaps a seperate allowed list, or something.
Dritex2005-02-17 08:34:12
I think I'm one of the only people that actually agrees with Richter in that teleport is a little low on the Planar list.

If anything, you people are just being overly lazy. Overly Lazy!

I've said it before in a similar thread, and I'll say it again. I can make trip Starting in Celest, go up into the mountains(lets say through the Estengare River), and make a complete trip around the entire mountain chain back to where I enter, and return to my starting point in Celest, all in an extremely short amount of time. Roughly 8 tops(with me fmbling from room to room, making mistakes here and there), if I'm not really focusing on moving to the next room the instant I enter.

I in fact just tested myself at this, and thus am not making things up, and got the time I said.. This is a complete circling of the entire world through the mountains, in a very short amount of time. Maybe if I really lolly-gag about, enjoying the scenery, I can go around in about 20-25 minutes.

EXACTLY! It's a circle! If you are too lazy to use the circle(of the highway), how about the even more direct path of crossing the Inner Sea?

Yes, I know in the other games, it could be a pain to cross the world, as I did it myself plenty of times. And yes, Lusternia has a lot of rooms ot go through on the prime, but overall, it is extremly eazy to get around by simply walking.

As KidHendrix so kindly pointed out, the placee is essencially a big circle, starting with the sea, then the highways, and then the mountain ranges. It's not that difficult top get anywhere quickly, especially if you know where you are going.

I'd like to see more use get put into painting transporting, as I think teleportation has widely made paintings quite a small time thing to use.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one that's figured out how to jump from Celest, to Serenwilde, to Magnagora, all through manses and the Aetherplex. This makes a walk to anywhere and everywhere even shorter.

So yes, teleport makes players lazy, and miss all the beautiful rooms that all the builders so greatly made.

Exactly

Part of the reasons I'm trying to link Deepnight to all three places. Increase in traffic. happy.gif

And it takes all of what, three minutes to make a complete circle around the world? Granted, I have Thorgal's Zmud world map...
Desdemona2005-02-17 17:15:13
Psh, that about people missing the scenery? Not true. I'm very sure that there are a bunch of us out there that have even tried to contemplate the scenery about 50ft undergroud (thanks to burrow)tongue.gif Teleport is convinient to use, paintings too, and Masne travel as well, but they aren't substitute for feet.

I think is that those of you that use anything more than Teleport Nexus, or Teleport for the rare fast relocation... are either too lazy or just don't want to get your boots dirty. Teleport is there, but you can just ignore it wink.gif
